Chapter two

Hangover is one of the reasons I don't like drinking too much because it hardly get out of my system.I wake up late even after setting the alarm to wake me up which has been ringing for a long time but have to off because am just really tired and need to sleep more to gain my strength back. I picked my phone to check the time which I slipped and fell from the bed because the time I saw on my phone shows that I am totally late and I'll be in for a deep shit with the manager because she had warned me on several accounts to stop coming late. I quickly dash to the bathroom to bathe before changing into a fresh set of shirts and trousers. Just don't know what's wrong with me sometimes because I know I am already late for work. I amble out of my apartment and hail a taxi to plot 7 Labone Nyaniba estate where I work without wasting much time with the taxi driver I paid him and rushed inside the building but immediately I set my foot inside the door the manager is already at there waiting for me which I know luck is just not by my side today 

"Good day sir" I greeted him trying to compose myself

"keep the greetings to yourself. And where the hell do you think you're coming from by these time?" He asked pissed

"Am so sorry sir I slept off" I tried to tell him but got cut off

"Sorry for yourself. Why do I feel as if you're tired of your job or you just don't want to work here anymore, you know what you can just resign so that I could replace you because am getting tired of your late coming already" he finished ranting and left because I know very well he's just looking for a way to get what he wants from me which I don't think he will succeed even in future

"It won't happen again sir" I said even though he left already but he is not that far that he wouldn't hear me. I walked close to Dora who is just looking at us

"Hello Lilly" she greeted

" Hi Dora" I replied before I continued "aren't you leaving already" I asked seeing she's still here when her duty time is already up

"I will do that now, was just covering up for you before you arrived"

"Awwn thanks sweety, I really appreciate" I said giving her a hug 

"You're welcome. Let me get going, see you tomorrow" she said waving at me

" Bye Dora" I waved back at her. Dora is my coworker who always covers up for me whenever I am late. She's nice and friendly. She once told me she likes me that's why she always cover up for me when ever am late for work but still yet the manager always look for a way to complain

It's already 11pm the time must workers are free from work and time where some teenagers sneak out of their houses to go for clubbing, drinking and partying without some of their parents knowing but to me it's time for me to start my work since we're the night workers. Yes everyone that works in a bar or club is a night worker. Enjoying the view of people coming inside the bar behind the desk waiting patiently for them to start taking their orders. I could see someone waving at me from table three which i walk there to take the orders.i bring out my jotter to write their orders down since they asked of different type of drinks which I can't recall on in my head without jotting it down, done with that  about to leave when one of them touch my butt which i glared at him before walking away to get them their orders. Done with their orders I walked to the next table to get their orders, through with all orders ready to go back to my position when someone calls me from table three

"Hey give us more drink here" the guy in gray shirt shouted from table three which I had to walk back to them to take their orders when one of them grab me by waist and sat me down on his lap I stand up and glare at "this should be the last time you try such thing with me" I said to him before walking away to get them their orders upon my arrival even before I dropped the drinks on the table the same guy still repeated the same action again my putting me on his lap without second thought I slapped him hard on his face which gain everyone's attention on us "I warned you the last time and I hope this should be the second and last time you try such thing with me again, am just a server not a whore" I said glaring at him 

"Who the hell did you think you are" he said angrily expecting me to be intimated

"Am just a mere server which I know my worth. So how dare you lay your filthy hands on me?" I implore without any fear which before he could say something the manager arrived by his side glaring at me 

"Am so sorry for what she did such thing won't repeat itself again I promised" the manager said trying to make our customers calm down which I could care less

"It's better not happen again and I hoped when next I come she will be gone before then" the guy said storming out of the which his friends follow suit after paying while the manager turned and face me

"Meet me in my office right now" said the manager which I followed suit. Immediately I open the office door even before I could step my foot inside he spoke "YOU ARE FIRED" he said laying emphasis on each words

"But sir I did nothing wrong, moreover he harassed me first which I warned him but he didn't listen to me so I did the needful" I replied simply

"You still have the guts to talk back to me. What do you expect when you're serving in a bar where different kinds of people come? You're paid for a reason or do you think you're just paid for serving? You know what just pack your things and leave I don't want to see you in my sight any longer"

"Am sorry sir" I said trying not to be rude

"You can feel sorry for yourself but when the next such thing happens again, know that you will be fired for real because I won't take such a thing from you again. Now get out of my side before I changed my mind"

"Thank you sir" I said and quickly walked out of his office. Not that I feel any remorse i just say it so I could keep my job and he won't continue to nag

"That was awesome gal" one of my colleagues said immediately he saw me coming

"Seriously? I almost lost my job" 

"Forget it he can't fire you, his just the manager not the boss and moreover your one of the best around here he can't afford to lose you" he declared

"Humm whatever. Let me go out for a while" I folded my apron neatly before placing it on the shelf before walking out to the backyard to have some time alone since it's break time. 

"Hey Lilly let me join you" Paul said talking about the cigarette in my hand which I hand over it to him we spend some quiet moment before walking back to continue our work since the break is over 

The closing hour is normally 4:30am but I had to leave by 5:00am since we needed to clean up everything before leaving which I had no other choice than to wait before I went home. I arrived at home by 5:30am because I couldn't get a ride on time. Immediately I step foot inside the comfort of my home I walked straight to the toilet to freshen up before going to bed to sleep

When I woke up it's already after two in the afternoon when I took another warm bath. Done with my business in the toilet I walked out which I saw someone walking in my apartment which with no doubt i know it's either one of the two Sam or Mia which I didn't bothered to check which one of them it is

"Bring your fucking ass here Gal" I heard which I know already who it is

"Oh my fucking ass is not coming anywhere closed to you" I replied which made the both of us to laugh when he came in view "Sam what are you up to early this morning?" I asked curiously knowing it's not a crime for him to com

"Like seriously? I can't visit you any longer unless I seek for permission"

"Yes you need to" I smiled Which he hits me on my head "ouch" I shouted

"Serve you right. Well I just felt like coming over because it's been a while I set my eyes on you so I decided to spend some quality time with you"

"Aww that's nice and thoughtful of you. Let me call Mia it's been long we hang out the three of us" 

"No need because I'm here already" Mia said coming inside which I dropped my phone which I intended to call her with

"Guessed Sam called you already" I said looking at them both, which she just shrugged and got comfortable on the chair. Since I'm still in my bathrobe I walked into my closet and changed "Let's go guys" I said which we all walked out. Oh less I forget Sam is my best friend but his a gay 

We walked to a nearby restaurant not far from my place. We ordered what we want before we continue chatting

" So Sam, how have you been these days?" I asked munching on my cake looking at him

"Fine and coping. But seriously it's quite stressful" he said sipping on his drink

"Mia" I called her name knowing she knows what I mean

"Fine babe, just tired of office work already. It's time consuming and frustrating" she sighed

"Don't worry dear it's gonna get better, you don't need to stress yourself over it. It's normally like that at some point but with time you will get used to it" I said trying to encourage her

"Yeah I know. So how is yours" she asked

"Hectic as always I wish I can just quite but I can't" I breathe in before I continued "you know i need the money to survive and pay my debt off" 

"Sorry dear. It's going to be well" they both said giving me the I know what your going through look

"Hey, you guys should stop giving me that look. I have this feeling that soon i will pay them off and will be able to live freely like others" I smiled reassuring myself and them

"That's the spirit babe" Mia smiled at me lovely

"That reminds me" Sam said

"What is it" I inquired

"If you don't mind and you think you can have extra time and energy then there's this fashion designing shop close to my work who are looking for more workers you can apply there since you're good with designs" Sam suggested

"That will be a great idea but I have enough on my plate already. I can't just start looking for another job again because this particular one is already stressful" I replied honestly because I know what it is to work at a bar

"I know dear, I'm so sorry you're going through this all alone"he said calmly before changing the topic " so what your plans for next weekend"

"I don't know yet. Maybe I will just rest at home and sleep throughout the day simple"I said with shrug

"No no we need to go out for clubbing because it's been long I tag alongside you girls"

" That's a brilliant idea" said Mia 

"Friday it is then '' Sam said while both of them were staring at me waiting for a reply . I had no other option than to say yes which I did and they both embraced me. We left after some time to go shopping since it's been a long time since I went for one. Mia couldn't hold her excitement since she loves shopping and that's where she spends most of her money
