Reconciling

Maya's POV

The door opened, and Dorothy walked inside, a plate in hand, with a slice of cake resting on it.

“Hi,” she greeted a bit nervously. “I brought some cake for you two. Thought you would like something sweet.”

Generous as the gesture was, I couldn’t say I was in a mood for cake, nor did I want to be in the same room as her. Not after what she did. Sure, she was probably frightened when she saw the Rogues. Anyone would if they see a group of monsters like them. However, not only did she leave me behind, she led me to those Rogues. And going by Danielle and the others’ reactions, the fact that those guys- banished by their home packs- somehow made their way this deep in Preparatory Pack was unnatural, and thus very suspicious.

For all I know, she led me to those wolves, and wanted to leave me there to die.

“Not hungry,” Zeke spoke first, making his way to the door. “I’m using the bathroom. I’ll be right back.”
