“Hey, Nat. Long time no see. Well, from your side actually.” He grinned. I propped myself onto my elbow and winced in pain at the bruises on my back. Trei saw my struggle and chuckled. “Hang on. I’ll get it for you.” He says as he reached out behind me and pressed a button on the side of the bed. There was a buzz as the bed started to incline just enough for me to be after to see my old friend.
Well, my ex-friend.
But at the moment. It seemed like the fight between us never happened because I was just too happy to see a familiar face here with me. “Is it really you?” I asked. “I am not dreaming, am I?” I asked as I reached out to pinch his cheek.
Trei slapped my hand away with a laugh as he returned the gesture. “You know that is not how it works. Silly goo
I let out a yell as I threw in a punch one after another at my sparring partner - Falco. Falco did not expect that I would be an aggressive partner that he narrowly dodged my first punch and had to block my second blow.“Ow! Hey, easy there. What’s with you today?” Falco says after jumping back to avoid my kick. “And I thought sparring with you would be a little bit relaxing since your back is bruised.”I lowered my stance immediately as soon as I realized that I was venting out my frustration at Falco. I didn’t sleep much that night because of Trei that I missed morning practice. Skyr didn’t punish me for it - thankfully. “Sorry, Falco.”“Hey, it’s cool.” Falco waved a hand. “I just didn’t expect you to go all out. Now, come o
The afternoon training went by without a hitch and Skyr no longer bothered me after that. Moreover, it felt like he was being conscious of me because I kept catching him sneaking glances at me.As I was preparing myself to leave, Eva grabbed my arm. When I looked at him he pointed at Skyr. “The general wants to talk to you.”I looked at the general after that to see him flinch when our eyes met. Then he started to look away with his arms crossed as if Jack was more interesting to look at. Then he frowned when he saw Jack pointing a finger at him and laughing. I saw Skyr gripping his teeth and cracked his knuckles before heading over to beat up Jack.I looked back at Eva with a raised brow. “Are you sure he wants to talk to me? Because right now I feel like he wants to turn Jack into a pulp.”
“Come on sweetie. There are no sharks here.” Eva insisted as soon as Falco and Duke finished attaching the underwater jets on me.“There.” Falco said as he eyes me from head to toe to check if he was able to attach everything perfectly. “Yeah. This should do well. The jets work like an extension of your body. It was specifically designed to read your suits movement patterns so you can react and dodge like you’re fighting on land. Though it won’t do much when you want to chase someone since the max speed is about 30kph. Of course that is only if you haven’t broken your helmet.” He said and pressed a button on the headband at the back of my head. Not a moment soon and there was now a thick and clear glass in front of me. “If you want to deactivate it just pressed the button that I tapped right behind your ear and it will retract.”
I missed this. Missed the annoying blabber of the students in the campus. Miss seeing the sight of these wanna be popular rich kids as they marched down the hall. I might even be losing it, but I have to say that it was nice smelling some unfiltered sweat and body odour. I swear in Atlantis, it is all about cleanliness that even if your armpits are sweating under your suit, it won’t even smell.Right now, I am wearing some plain jeans and a white shirt and couldn’t help but miss the fancy white suit from Atlantis. It feels more comfortable to wear than my current outfit. But right now, for the sake of this mission - mine and Rachel’s first mission - I will have to bear with it.“Ugh!” Rachel almost gagged when she came out of the girl’s bathroom and shivered as she sprayed alcohol all over her hands and her purple sleev
As I stared into the metahuman’s eyes I panicked and looked around me nervously. I gulped and used my hands as I pushed the mutant back into the pond in order to hide him. Then I turned to the demigod, who was still rolling on the grass gleefully.“Byron!” I yelled. I saw the demigod perked up and saw my hand momentarily rising up and exposing a bit of the metahuman’s head before I pushed it back in. “The sprinklers!”I was thankful when Byron immediately got my message as he jumped up and raised his palms up before slamming them down and facing the ground.Water started spraying everywhere; both from the building and the garden. Students started to scream and panic as they all came running outside to avoid getting wet.The metah
“What was that thing?” Andrew asked as he looked at the back of the truck once again, where the metahuman was sleeping soundlessly. After we were able to subdue the metahuman, we all leaped out of the window. The boy, Andrew, was pretty shocked and scared at the fact that we were able to jump as high as the gymnasium windows. Byron had to carry a struggling Andrew as Skyr had to carry the meta. Rachel and I were the ones who opened the window after we did some basic cleaning in the gym. Then I called Jack and gave him our location as we hid in a narrow alley until they came and picked us up. Along the way, we made a detour and transferred to a truck that could accommodate us all. Duke and Falco were the ones in the front while the rest of us stayed at the back and sat on the cold metal floor in two lines. Grey, Jack, me Skyr, and the meta frog on one side while Eva, Vie, Andrew, and Rache
I let out a wild grunt as the hold of the intruder loosened because of the mucus all over my body.I then faced my attacker just as the lights went on. I saw Trei with a look of disgust on his face as he wiped the mucus on his green suit.Green? Does that mean he took on agriculture?“What are you doing here?” I hissed at him. Then I remembered his promise that he made to me when he came back. “Have you...have you found my father?”He turned towards me with a grim look on his face. “No. I came here for a different reason.” There was a look on his face that I didn’t like. It was as if I had betrayed him for some reason. “Then what?” I demanded.Trei bit his lip and wiped the mucus off of his cheek with his shoulder. &ld
“Have you guys been to another sector before?” I asked and then Falco pushed my head down on the floor just as a bullet zipped past my head. I looked back at the spot where the bullet met with the wall and saw a patch of red. I gulped.“You won’t even live long enough if the general finds out about you slacking off during training. Remember what he said earlier?”I nodded. “If our squad loses then he will throw us in a water with Byron’s Megalodons?”“You guys called?” Just as we mentioned his name, Byron suddenly appeared behind Falco, making him scream. Dozens of laser pointers were suddenly aimed at us. “SCATTER!” Falco ordered as we scrambled to our feet just to dodge all the paint bullets that were being fired at us. I jumped and hid inside
“Take her. Quick!” I felt Skyr lowering me down into the sub as Byron reached up to grab me. I heard the lock clicking above us before Skyr started yelling again. “Get us out of here. Now.”“What about the others?” Byron asked after he lowered me to the cold ground.I reached out to touch Byron’s shoulders and shook my head weakly at his question. Both of his brows shot up in dismay before he bit his lips and started rummaging through the first aid supply kit.I felt the sub starting to move and lowering itself into the water. “Can’t this thing go any faster?!” Skyr demanded.“This is the fastest that we can go. My allies are still opening the gate!” Trei yelled.
“Is the afterlife really that boring that you decided to come back to life?” I grinned as I pulled Skyr back to his feet.“More or less. I heard that you got captured and figured that it is not the time for me to die just yet. More importantly, we have to keep on going.” He ruffled my head and pointed at the attic from where he came from. “Come on. Let’s get out of here.” He helped me climb up on the air vent first before climbing in himself and closing the vent. “Move over so I can guide us.” He whispered.I pressed myself closer to the wall and allowed Skyr to crawl past me. The vent wasn’t as narrow as I thought because we could even crawl without hunching our backs, which is a huge relief since I am a bit claustrophobic.
I was doing some sit ups when an unexpected visitor arrived. At first, I was smiling because I thought that it was Byron. But when I saw Lord Ylgarr entering along with 4 freir sentinels, my smile dropped and was replaced with a frown.“Took you a while to visit. I was starting to wonder if I actually scared you.” I smirked when I saw his face forming a frown.“Insolence!” One of the sentinels tried to grab my shirt but I grabbed his arm first and twisted it.“I may be insolent but I am still a demigod. Do not think for one second that I couldn’t break this arm of yours.” I threatened him before letting go of his hand. A look of pure hatred spread across the man’s face as he returned to his position. He was probably trying to act cool to threaten me.
I have no sense of time here, but I do know when a day would pass. There was a schedule for when I would eat and when I would bathe. If I want to use the toilet in between, I would simply need to call for them with the red button. The only time that I ever get any visitors is when Byron would drop by.About six escorts would pick me up everyday to take me to the bathroom and then back to the holding cell where they are keeping me.Byron rarely visits. It was making me anxious just thinking about him all the time that I started doing some training on my own. Nothing too strenuous. Just the normal exercises that we do to keep in shape. But if this really keeps up, I might lose my sense of combat. There’s only so much that a few pushups and cardio can do.
Byron squeezed my hand to prevent me from saying anything. Among all other things, I remembered that there was one thing that we have not shared with the others. It was the fact that we know about the burned marks. And it was an advantage that Byron doesn’t want to let go. Well, assuming that it would help us.“I thought Atlanteans never got any scars. Why do you have one?” It was a smart and safe move coming from him. It would clear some doubts on why I hesitated when I saw his mark.Ylgarr immediately covered his chest with the hanging cloth from his torn suit. “It was a war from a long time ago.” He answered and pointed a look at Byron. “Byron, for now I will overlook this simply because I am at fault for provoking your sister as well. But I had to do something to
My footsteps echoed inside of the stoned floor of the building. Numerous advanced looking drones floated in the air and guards were lined everywhere. Two double doors waited for us at the end of the hallway that automatically opened as soon as we entered.A long table greeted me. At the end of it was a man with long white hair and very pale skin. His eyes were almost white and his fingers were long and bonney. He smiled when he saw me. “Ah, Nathalia Trayce, welcome. Please join me for breakfast.”I saw the two royal sentinels giving me a warning look before I addressed the man in front of me. “Lord Ylgarr.” I bowed. “It would be an honor.” I am not sure of the formalities here, but I am just going on instinct and bowing. I wasn’t sure at first if the person was exactly Lord Ylgarr, but by the small c
Black cloud surrounded an island. An eerie and ominous aura emitted from it. There were no signs of life there. No grass, no tree, and not even a single fish would roam around the island. It was like the island was dead.Isolated from the world for a reason.‘Come to me.’ It beckoned. I felt a sudden strange pull, but I resisted. The voice was kind but there was something about it’s tone. The acidity that it kept hidden. ‘Master, it is me. Come and set me free.’No.I tried to say the words out loud but I cannot seem to do that. I have no voice. My vision suddenly darkened. Then I saw three strikes of lightning followed by the appearance of those glowing red orbs glaring at me
I was disappointed. It has been a week after our trip to the amusement park and I haven’t seen Byron or Skyr within those days. It’s not like we all got into a fight. It’s just that we were only following Skyr’s orders. To lay low for a little while.Because of that I didn't even get to train with Byron and learn more tips and tricks on how to control my gifts. Thankfully, aside from my abnormal strength as they would call it, my other gifts only manifest when I am near sea creatures. But I did confirm another gift though. Breathing underwater. It did not sit well for me at first because I grew up on land. I do not find breathing in water natural or even possible. That was why I did it whenever I took a bath. I changed my
“What was that? Who screamed?” Byron jumped onto his feet in full alert as screams erupted all around us. I had to grab the back of Byron’s collar just as he was about to run towards the location of the screams. “What are you doing, Nathalia? People are in danger! Let go of my hand.”I sighed. All I want to do right now is to run and hide. We were still at the entrance, lining for our ticket and people were already staring at us. “He’s...roleplaying. He can be such a weeb.” I said and forced him to come closer to me so I can whisper in his ears. “They’re just having fun! It’s called an amusement park for a reason!” I hissed.Byron seemed to realize his mistake and finally calmed down. He looked up at the roller coaster that could be seen from where we were. “So tha
