Chapter 1

She was sitting there, quite in the cold narrow lobby of the clinic . She was waiting for her name to be call by the nurse assistant. She was trembling and wanted to leave the hospital. While her line was near her heartbeat became faster, and it sounded like a train approaching. She got goose bumps on her arms and legs. She don’t know why she was feeling that way.

“Miss Khlea Magalona you are next!” the nurse called her name and that brought her in reality.

She stood up and took a carefull steps. Going to the door of the doctor’s office as if moving too fast might set something in motion that hadn’t yet begun. It was a tall, colorful door with a bright brass handle and a large picture of a pregnant woman on the door. At first she hesitated whether to continue entering that door. But finally, she made her decision to enter the doctor’s office to know the result of her laboratories. After a few seconds of thinking. She sighed and opened the latch of the doctor’s office door with a soft click and made her way to the doctor’s table. The doctor is in his fifties. He looks nice, decent, very professional in his white coat. He raised his head in a slow motion and stared at her for a second.

“Miss Magalona? Have a seat please.” the doctor’s said to her with a smile plastered in his long face. Congratulation! The result of your test is positive, you are one month pregnant. He added.

She couldn’t believe her ears when she heard the result. She was shock, terrified, and didn’t know what to do. Shocked and speechless, she looked in the mirror hanging on the doctor’s office wall. She raised her eyebrows, pursed her lips and shook her head back and forth. She covered her head with her arms. Inside her there was a white noise, and she couldn’t hear what he was saying. Consciously, she tried to breathe, to fill up her lungs. She raised her head up and took in great gulps of air. As if in the distance, she heard an odd choking sound that wasn’t exactly crying because her face was dry. Others would be grateful and happy hearing that result. But for her it’s the other hand around, she is not yet ready for that. The pregnancy was unplanned!. In front her, the doctor was looking at her as if worried and confused.

“Are you alright?” he asked.

She voluntarily shook her head and quickly made her way out of the doctor’s office.

Later on, she didn’t realize how she got to her boarding house. The boarding house was located in a quiet street, near the clinic where she came from. The room is decent, small but spacious. And was equipped with everything she need for a comfortable stay. She sat on her bed and began to sob. She can’t believe this is happening to her. She decided to call her boyfriend Jack to tell him that she was pregnant. She took her cellphone in her bag and called Jack. She dialed her boyfriend’s number but he doesn’t answer the call. She dialed it again but the same no answer from him. She was so worried what is going inside his mind. Anyway, that’s not new to her because since they begun their relationship, he’s been like that. It’s like she’s not his girlfriend if he treated her. So she send him a text messages.

“Where are now Jack I need to talk to you.”

“ Please, answer my call..we have an important thing to talk with.”

But still no answer from Jack. While she is holding and staring at her cellphone memories pop-up to her mind.

She came from Philippines all alone to New York to study at the prominent University. Yes all alone, because she was an orphan, her parents died in a car accident when she was twenty years old. Thanks to her parents because they saved money for her so she had a savings to used. Because she was good at school, she was able to pass a scholarship to a university here in New York.

“Ouchhh!.”She uttered. Because she is in hurry she didn’t notice that someone was infront of her so she bumped on it.

“ What the..” he stopped in uttering when he saw that a girl bumped on him. “ miss look at your way”. He said.

“Sorry.” The only word that came out to her mouth as he raised her head and looked at the man’s face. She was flattered the man is handsome and tall. His tanned skin glistening under the sun, his broad shoulders are muscularly hot. He has deep set of brown eyes, pointed nose, prominent jawline and a brown waxy hair.

The man nodded to her and went through her side. They were in Fourth year college that time. At their classroom she saw the man sitting at the back together with a beautiful girl. She regretted it because it look like he has a girlfriend, she had a crush on him. When the class started that’s when he learned the man’s name. That was how she met Jack. She can’t denied that she was the one who show affection to Jack. But didn’t notice her because he has a girlfriend. After their graduation, she had no news from Jack. But she saw him again after few months when they had a batch reunion. She saw that Jack was not okay. That time seems he had a problem and Jack told her that he was a broken hearted. She became the comfort of Jack until Jack court her and with out hesitating she answered Jack.

Ringgg..ringg.. her phone chirped that bring her in reality. She grabbed her phone thinking it was her boyfriend Jack calling. She took a look at the screen of the phone but to her dismay the caller is not Jack but it was Joan, calling her.

“ Why is she calling me at this moment? Is she home now, what I know is she was at America “ She whisper while ignoring the call because right now she doesn’t feel like talking to others.

The call ended but it rang again. Out of curiosity she decided to take the call when the call was almost at the end. She answered the call as she placed the phone gently on her ear but the filthy sounds she heard left her flabbergasted and anxious.

She again look at the screen of her phone to be sure that if was Joan that pulled a call across, She placed the phone again on her ear and heard the same filthy sounds, they were hard and loud mo-ans that despicts clearly that someone was having a heavy round of sex with her.

With the few times that she had spoken to Joan during their college she recognized her voice and she knew that the mo-ans was definitely that of Joan. Did she mistakenly dialed her number during her intimate session with her boyfriend? Khlea thought of it could be a mistake so she decided to hung the call up but what Khlea heard next made her head almost fall of her neck.

She had to top the speaker of her phone just to be sure she heard the right thing, she listened clearly again and Joan repeated..” dee…peer…oohh..my !

Khlea’s heart become troubled, very disturbed that she had to stand. That’s not possible. She concluded and hung the call up. He trusted Jack with her life and loved him deeply.

It can’t be possible that Jack will be cheating on her with Joan. He hated so much Joan when she broke with him and went to America after their college graduation. Khlea has not heard of her coming home to the New York .That’s not just possible. And Joan must just came home from America. She shook her head trying not to believe that, Perhaps, Joan had just decided to suddenly turn herself into a villain in their relationship but sadly, that would not work.

Khlea sat back and wanted to ignore what just happened but a gentle voice speaking inside of her would’nt let her mind be at rest. In a world where anything is possible, especially that Jack didn’t bother to call her for almost 1 week from now.What if Jack was actually cheating on her.

While she was in a deep thought her phone chirped briefly and seeing that it was a text message, she picked up her phone , but her heart raced when she realized that the sender of this message is none other than Joan.

She read the message telling her to come to a location, the location was a hotel and the exact room she was to come was stated in that message. Khlea’s mind became even more troubled. She was very exhausted from crying, but she decided to go out and find what’s really going on.

Khlea arrived at the hotel and walked towards the room. She thought of knocking the door but suddenly she thought that it is not a good move. She twisted the door knob and…..

What the..!! she was shocked to what she witnessed. Jack and Joan was in the bed and barely naked. Her bag fall down in the floor and tears suddenly came out of her eyes. She was getting a bit lightheaded, and she felt that the room was spinning. She felt like she can’t breathe and her heart was racing. She closed her eyes, clenched her fist and tried to calm down, but it didn’t help. She felt like she might throw up. Quickly she searched for the wall and leaned against the wall for support. She was momentarily shocked, but trying to regain her strength but she couldn’t help it, her voice were gone. She hadn’t known that her body could abandon her so, could give out like that

“I can’t believe this is happening.” a whisper coming from her mouth and gently close her eyes wishing that what happening is only a dream.

“ hello! baby nice meeting you here” but Joan’s words as if mocking at her proved that she was not dreaming. She forced to open her teary eyes and saw Joan with a big smile plastered in her face looking at her like she wins a jackpot.

Jack! Why did you do this to me, I gave everything to you. All my life I trusted you but why?” that’s the only word that came out of her mouth.

Hey, stop acting! Now that you find out about us you can leave us now! Joan drive her away with out caring how she feel.

Sorry Khlea,to be honest,I really didn’t love you, I just make you a covering hole when Joan went to America! Jack said without any regret on his voice and still hugging Joan and didn’t even hesitate to help her.

She shook her head after hearing what Jack just say.She felt like her body was shaking as she was trying to digest what he said. She can’t believe it, yes she felt that Jack didn’t really love her but because she love her she ignored it. But now hearing what Jack just said , It was a huge blow in her heart. She wanted Jack to look at her and tell her that he made a mistake. But there are no words coming from Jack after he said that she is just a cover hole all she was hearing was Joan’s laughter. She want to came near to them and slap them both but she can’t move her feet. She felt like she was going to lost consciousness.

“but Jack, you impregnated me. I am one month preggy now and you have to take responsibility of the baby” she yelled at Jack as soon as she regain her voice. She saw that Jack and Joan both shocked and quite for a while.

“ how come I am responsible for the child that is festering in your womb? It would be anyone’s child! Why would I take responsibility.?” Jack replied angrily

“ but you know the truth Jack you are the only one whom I slept with. You are my only boyfriend! She yelled again even if she already felt she didn’t have strength anymore.

“what now! I don’t care whether that’s mine or not! I will give you money and have that child aborted!” Jack added.

“ Go away, you foolish! Don’t blame Jack if you are pregnant now. You spread your legs for Jack voluntarily, without any shame, so that’s your problem not Jack’s problem whether you are pregnant or not! You took the opportunity when he was broken hearted with me and flirted him knowing that I’m the one he love.” Joan yelled with an evil look on her face. She knew that Jack is wrong but she don’t want to loss Jack again..not anymore.

“You both people are evil more than an evil! But that won’t stop me from fighting my rights.” She yelled back as she recovered her strength. She grabbed her bag and step forward and lunged at Jack who is standing right now at her front. Trying to protect Jack, Joan picked up the big crystal flower vase under the table and without thinking she hit Khlea on her head.

Aghhh…blood gushes on Khlea’s head and her weak petite body fell down on the ground, completely lifeless. Just like that.

Jack subconconsciously took a step back, her hands and feet were cold with the shock.

Joan stared at the lifeless body with a dumbfounded expression. What had she done? She could not believe that she actually hit Khlea and killed her. With a little hope left in her she stepped forward and checked the pulse of the woman that was now laying on the floor, but she was no longer breathing.

Jack! Jack! , what should we do? I think I killed her!she yelled as she held to Jack who was also retrieving from her own shock. Joan broke down with her pale face, and raised his eyes, and then he finally burst into tears.

Jack! she wailed and then added. You have to help me, you have to help me in covering this!”

Jack looked at Joan with a dazed look. He is an arrogant and selfish man but she has never committed such a heinous crime. Not to mention, the laws are much more strict now a days so getting away from murder would be very difficult and it will also bring shame to their family. But because he love Joan he must help her cover that crime. They both took a little conversation and later on Jack is talking to someone on his phone.
