Fia was touched and she quickly nodded. “Once his right leg has healed, I won’t owe him anything anymore.”

“Alright,” Lucifer said without hesitation. “Then, I’ll take the kids for now. If you miss them, you can give me a call anytime.”

Fia nodded. “Thank you.”

“You can pretend that I owe you one,” Lucifer said as if making a joke as he left with the children.

Fia looked at their departing figures. When she could no longer see them, she sighed and turned back to Conrad’s ward.

“Why are you back here alone? Where are the kids?”

Listening to Conrad’s anxious voice, she sneered. “You’re overstepping your boundaries.”

Conrad frowned but realized that she was right.

“The children’s father is here?”

“Yes.” Fia poured herself a glass of water and then stood by the window, looking outside.

Conrad looked at her. Every time he did, it was like looking at his wife.

But when she turned around, her expression and her skin color would pull him back to reality.
