Xynathius's POV (Chapter 45)The damage was not that extensive but they destroyed part of my mother's greenhouse and some of the plants my mother and I had gathered from all over the world. This hurt deeply, this was my mother's sanctuary and I didn't even allow anyone to step foot in here and yet those treacherous creatures dared enter it. I asked for it to be fixed immediately along with everything else that was destroyed. But the biggest shock I received was when I entered my room. Someone had trashed it, the closet was hanging open, and all its contents were spilt on the floor. My bed had been wrecked, and so was my dressing. I highly doubted it was the Wendigos. Someone had gone through my room, it was clear as daylight that they had been searching for something specific and only one object sprung to mind. Sprinting to the hidden part of the cupboard I opened the secret compartment using my handprint and heaved a sigh of relief when the book was still lying inside it. I grabbe
Karica's POVThe funerals were exhilarating and emotional. Although I didn't know these people Luca died protecting us and I will forever be indebted to him. Seeing his mother all broken down gnawed at me. Losing a young son takes away part of your soul, it's a loss one can never heal from. He was only nineteen and hadn't even found his mate yet. I lay in bed staring at the ceiling, my heart hurt. I thought I was miserable in this life but at least I was alive and had this strange power brewing inside of me, one which I had no clue about. My train of thought was interrupted by a gentle knock on the door."Come in," I said quietly. The door slowly opened and his delectable scent permeated through the air even before his huge frame became visible. I sat up straight in bed as our gazes collided. It was the first time he was coming into my room after that night of the party. And the fact that he knocked showed he had started to respect my boundaries. He softly closed the door and lea
Xynathius's POVI was surprised she gave the reins to Laila, Zilver was already in control here because I was an emotional mess. Those luscious silken strands of hers were smoother and softer than a rose's petals. The unique scent they possessed was not from any shampoo, it was natural and wild. Just like her. And then she touched my face with Laila's claw, shocking me to my core. She never touched me and would mostly just clench her hands. Although it was Laila I knew Karica permitted her to. The current that shot through my body and the relief that rawly wounded heart experienced had me closing my eyes and I basked in her gentle caress. Tugging her close to my heat until there was not a fraction of space left between us. 'Ask her if we can stay with her tonight?' Zilver was in the forefront but he wanted to have Karica on board as well. And I did my hands leaving her waist and perching on her claws. Her velvety fine fur suddenly disappeared from underneath my hands and my eyes j
Karica's POVHis words rendered me speechless and dumbfounded. A friend? He wanted to be my friend? He was hurting so deeply because of my actions and yet he wished to be my friend. I had labelled him as a heartless brute and yet here he was being all soft. Soft and gooey and I couldn't help but be drawn to this side of him. Melsine and Kamryn were right, he wasn't that bad once you peeled off that tough exterior. "We can give it a try, I don't see any harm," a small smile tugged at the corner of my lips and he was quick to prompt himself on his elbow, his hand supporting his head as he slanted his body in my direction. Leaving the half-empty wine bottle his other hand stretches out towards me with an enigmatic smile illuminating his handsome face. He should be fined for being this alluringly gorgeous. "Hi! I am Xynathius, would you like to be my friend?" His deeply hypnotic voice resonates all around me and I am quick to respond. "Hi! I am Karica, nice to meet you. Let's be frie
Adiyan's POVDays lost meaning, nights became restless for she was not here with me anymore. I hardly slept, she had gotten me addicted to herself like a drug and I had been reduced to a mere addict whose life-saving elixir was taken away. Not for a second I believed the heartless words he made her say. She wouldn't have run and taken refuge if he was so benevolent in the first place. That man was a brute, ruthless, heartless brute. I couldn't even bring myself to believe what she must be going through daily. At least there were no bruises on her face and hands and I could only pray there weren't any on her body because it was covered with a long coat. I couldn't keep her safe and without her statement, there was nothing I could do. She tied my hands and threw me in a well so deep that I couldn't reach her. That helplessness in her eyes and the way her hands itched to reach me, haunted me day and night. My appetite was gone and I could hardly leave my room. I cancelled all my pendi
Adiyan's POV"It's not a joke. Didn't you ever wonder how I always had remedies for even the randomest of stuff? It's magic. Witches can do magic spells and so will you be able to. I have decided to teach you," Grandma replied with solemnity. Her cautious gaze stayed on me. This made my mind wander to weird incidents around her and I remembered she always had a potion, a weird book or herbs in her hands. She then flicked her fingers and a crackling ball of fire formed in her hand, hovering a few inches above, burning yellow and bright. My pupils dilated and my mouth hung open as I stupidly stared at that fireball in her hand which had appeared out of nowhere. My hand went to my head and I leaned back in fright. "Gosh, what is happening? Am I dreaming? Or did I get transmigrated to the world of Harry Potter?" I couldn't peel my eyes off from the fiery ball. Grandma and Mom slightly chuckled seeing my reaction. While the former put out the burning sphere with just a wave of her hand
Karica's POVI lazily opened my eyes with Tacy jolting me awake. I could hardly keep them open as my temples seemed to be pounded by hundreds of tiny hammers. Brilliant, I was hungover again. "Karica, drink this," she handed me a green and white pigmented drink as soon as I sat up in bed and rubbed my tired eyes. "What is it?" I apprehensively asked, sniffing the strange-looking drink. "It will help with the hangover, you have to get ready soon. Alpha is expecting you down in 15 minutes," hearing her speak about him made heat seep up in my cheeks. Some of the events from last night flashed in my brain. Well done Karica you made a spectacle of yourself in front of him. I gulped down the bitter drink and made a disgusting face as it left a bad taste in my mouth. "Here, get ready," she handed me a black frock coat with a matching scarf, jeans and long boots. I grabbed the clothes and headed to the bathroom. Taking a quick shower I dressed up. Tacy helped me dry my hair and I wrap
Karica's povWe wadded through the dense forest, the light hardly reached its floor. The morning birds chirped as they searched for the worms. There was this eerie quietness about it apart from birds and distant animals. Many unknown creatures lurked here and I was sure the Wendigos that had attacked us, came from here as well, although they were not native to the North. "Do Wendigos live here? I thought they dwelled only in the Western continent," I inquired, tilting my head towards Xynathius. "Recently a lot of creatures have migrated to the black forest, we have seen some unusual activity on our patrols. It is fast becoming a hub for supernatural beings and we can't figure out why. Wendigos are not native to the North but like other creatures, they seem to have inhabited the black forest. We will need powerful boundary spells to avoid what happened last time. But this area is under the witches so creatures tend to stay away," he explained, taking long strides and pulling me alo
