Chapter 3: Survival

Three o'clock in the morning.

Cen Xia was thrown out by that group of lunatics. She was the only one walking slowly on the deserted street. The scattered taxis were rushing with people returning home at night, but she never wanted to go back to that place.

She stretched out her hand to gather her messy hair, and there was a blister on her fair arm.

He just glanced at him indifferently, not knowing who had burned him with a cigarette butt. The scars on his body foreshadowed the humiliating nightmare he had just experienced.

Those people didn't touch her, which made her feel lucky that she had escaped again, but in addition to those dirty things, she also suffered the same torture.

She walked a long way in a daze before she dared to take off the disgusting mask. She held it tightly and dared not throw it away casually.

After returning, Chi Jinyan will appreciate what kind of work will be displayed as the gift he sent.

On a summer night, a dry warm breeze blew, but she still felt cold.

Touching the red string on her wrist, she wrapped her old coat tightly, which contained the money for 'going home' and an old cell phone. It was useless except for answering Chi Jinyan's calls, but of course it had another function ... to let that person know her whereabouts.

The lonely figure gradually disappeared into the dark night. The street lights in the pitch-black streets had long been turned off, just like her life.

She wondered when her sins would be redeemed ...

Cen Xia walked a long way before she dared to take a taxi back to the villa. She was afraid of being discovered. That was the last bit of dignity she had reserved for herself.

The first thing she did after returning home was to clean herself up. The wine stains and cigarette ash all over her body made her feel sick.

She had two places to live. One was Chi Jinyan's room upstairs, or to be more precise, next to his. There was a big bed in it, and if there were guests at home, she would move up there.

In fact ... she never even had the chance to go to the second floor.

And there was another one, which was a room that Chi Jinyan had 'specially' prepared for her.

In the far corner of the corridor on the first floor, next door is the servants' bathroom.

Compared with the villa, this place seems out of place. The house is damp all year round, and there are no windows and no sunlight.

The only place for ventilation is in the corner of the wall, half a meter above the ground. There is a square hole as big as an adult man's palm, and there is no glass on it.

Outside the wall is the backyard, where a few big dogs are kept, and they occasionally poke their noses in. Even after cleaning up every day, there are still wafts of smell.

Cen Xia could only find something to pad the hole.

Chi Jinyan would not come to her place because he thought it was dirty. It was a blessing to give her a place.

She tried hard to clean and make herself more comfortable.

The summer mosquitoes and the cold winter wind kept her company, plus the barking of dogs outside the wall, it was really lively.

The daughter of the once high and mighty Cen family, fell into the mud.

Just because of her impulsive marriage, she killed the girl.

She changed into rough gray linen long-sleeved clothes, walked to the bed and lay down. The thin mattress and the wooden bed that was about to fall apart made her dare not turn over. The slightest sway could cause the bed to collapse.

Chi Jinyan really took great pains to find such a shabby item.

Fortunately, there are no mice in this room, perhaps thanks to the dogs outside the wall.

This is how I have been living for three years.

Thinking about the past, tears couldn't stop falling. Only in this little house could she take off her disguise and release her emotions. Before the tears in the corners of her eyes dried, she fell into a deep sleep.

Even when she was hungry and tired, she could always fall into a dream instantly. It was Chi Jinyan who made her stop being so pretentious.

The next morning, Cen Xia was woken up from her sleep and dragged out the door. Before she came to her senses, the transition from darkness to bright light was so stimulating that she could not open her eyes.

In the morning sunlight, a man's face was blurred and his expression could not be seen clearly.

That unpleasant smell was extremely familiar, and Cen Xia woke up instantly.

Chi Jinyan looked at the thin woman who stretched out her hand to block the sunlight and said coldly , " Ms. Cen, I thought you were dead."

"No, it's just ... I just came back a little late."

Cen Xia didn't dare to look at him and answered cautiously, fearing that she would be unable to escape his clutches again.

“Ms. Cen, don’t try to play tricks on me. Maybe if you behave yourself, I won’t touch your mother’s family.”

Chi Jinyan kept the dying Cen family just to torture her.

"Master Chi, I will definitely obey you."

Cen Xia answered timidly. She knew very well that the Cen family was just an empty shell and could collapse in an instant at any time if he wanted to.

The man took a step forward. Although she couldn't see clearly, she could feel the cold gaze.

"Cen Xia, it would be more fun if you stayed with your mother's family. I want you to suffer and experience the despair of your own family being unable to save you. Also ... remember your identity."

Listening to his sneer, she didn't know how to make the man see that she was scared, or how to be satisfied, except to tremble.

Of course Cen Xia knew her identity. She was just living a barely surviving life under someone else's roof. She didn't want to respond, but this would make Chi Jinyan feel that she didn't respect him.

"Master Chi has great connections, you can do whatever you want. A small ant like me is not worth your trouble."

He could hear stubbornness in the trembling voice. The man pinched her face and held her pale and small cheek with his palms.

Cen Xia was forced to look up and saw his noble face clearly. His long eyelashes framed his dark eyes, and he looked like a demon who wanted to eat her alive and suck her marrow out of her bones. She wanted to reach out and struggle but slowly let go.

"Are you questioning me?" Chi Jinyan tightened his grip a little. The pain in her cheek made her frown and squint. She was helpless. Whatever she said would make him unhappy.

His hellish, cold voice came to my ears.

"Cen Xia, I will make you live a life worse than death, wagging your tail like a dog and begging for mercy."

Her face, which had just regained some color under the sunlight, turned pale again. She felt a chill on her back and broke out in a cold sweat.

Cen Xia had not eaten a single grain of rice since yesterday. After nearly half a night of torture and fatigue, his body was already at the end of its strength. Finally, he could not bear it anymore and fainted.

The man dropped her and kicked her, and only when he saw that she didn't move did he truly believe it.

"housekeeper."

Chi Jinyan called out and waved his hand, and the housekeeper walked forward upon hearing that.

He whispered something in my ear.

Rong Zhengqing called out , " Master."

"I just want results." A cold voice floated in the yard. As soon as the words fell, Rong Heng drove to the location.

Chi Jinyan ignored the housekeeper who was hesitant to speak, and took a step forward and sat on the back seat opened by Rong Heng. He was very busy, and there were many things waiting for him to deal with in the company.

Rong Heng glanced at Cen Xia's figure and nodded to the housekeeper to leave quickly.

The car disappeared in front of the villa. Rong Zhengqing looked back at Cen Xia lying on the ground and told the maid , " Auntie Zhang ... "
