Chapter 8: Hell

After a brief silence, Chi Jinyan asked her again, "Did she disobey today?"

Mo Ran didn't dare to lie and whispered , " I ... asked her to clean the whole villa, but she didn't finish it."

"Really? Then she doesn't have to sleep today." Chi Jinyan remained cold, and his playful eyes swept across her expressive face.

His words made Mo Ran's heart boil with joy. She stared at the incomparable, nearly perfect man in front of her with affection. His family background, appearance, and abilities were impeccable, and most importantly, he was loyal. He was the man of her dreams, but he was too stingy to even look at her.

"If you want to live here, be quiet."

Mo Ran accepted his "threat" in a daze. He didn't get angry because he was on his side. He was thinking about how to vent his anger on Cen Xia.

Chi Jinyan ignored the dazed Mo Ran and stood up to leave. He didn't want to pay any attention to such a vulgar and ostentatious woman.

Mo Ran's gaze followed him as he left and went up to the second floor.

After coming back to her senses and thinking about it, she couldn't figure out this man.

Although he has an extremely handsome face, he is reserved and always keeps people at a distance.

Even Gu Xia was unable to make him show passionate love, but her death was the most memorable.

She was very curious about what such a man would be like when he became gentle, and what kind of woman could completely conquer him.

But he must be in her pocket. Thinking of this, her eyes sparkled.

Chi Jinyan stayed in the study for a long time. He had almost no intention of working tonight. He felt that he was changing, which was a very bad sign. He didn't like things that he couldn't control.

He didn't even notice the butler coming in to bring him coffee.

Rong Zhengqing looked at Chi Jinyan, who was about to speak, but hesitated before speaking , " Young Master, the old lady wants you to go over there."

Chi Jinyan thought about it. He hadn't been there much since he got married. The last time he went there was several months ago. He told the housekeeper , " Let her pack up and go see grandma tomorrow." He didn't want the old lady to worry too much about him, and he knew very well that grandma just wanted to see Cen Xia.

Rong Zhengqing knew that the young master was talking about Cen Xia, "Then what about Boss Mo ... "

Chi Jinyan frowned , "... Let's put aside the unimportant things for now."

He thought for a moment , " Forget it, I'll go in two days ... and give her some medicine."

"Yes, Master."

"Also, today ... you don't have to ask her to work for the next few days."

His original intention was not to let Cen Xia get hurt and make the old man worry, but the housekeeper didn't think so.

This explanation made Rong Zhengqing pause for a moment, and then he responded , " Yes, Master."

"Tell Moran that if you like pretending to be a hostess, go somewhere else."

...

Cen Xia waited in the yard until Chi Jinyan finished his dinner before she could eat.

Her meals were always just leftovers.

At first she was unwilling to lower her proud head, but her biological instinct after two days of hunger made her succumb.

She knew that if she didn't eat, she would lose even those things. She had to live well for the sake of the Cen family. From then on, she no longer had any pride.

But today she was surprised. The housekeeper told her that she didn't have to work anymore and that the dinner would be rich.

After eating and drinking, she returned to her cabin, washed up and lay down on the bed with her tired body. It was a rare opportunity to go to bed early but she couldn't sleep at night, thinking about her elderly parents.

Somehow, she has been missing home lately. She hasn't seen him for three years and has no means of communication. She has never had the chance to see him again since he took her away on the wedding night. Apart from the occasional news about his parents that Chi Jinyan brought her, she knew nothing else.

Her parents had been strict with her since she was a child, and she followed the path they had planned and finally raised her to be what they wanted her to be.

She has always been very obedient, except for the issue of marriage, when she went into a tough cold war with her parents.

In the end she won, but her only rebellion ended in hell, and the misunderstanding caused by her boyfriend's death in a car accident actually killed another life.

Her brother also left this world three years ago. The Cen family lost its pillar, the company was acquired, and she became a canary in a prison. She had made mistakes and thought about escaping, but repeated failures only wore away Chi Jinyan's patience and her spirit. She wished someone could come and save her.

Unfortunately, even though the dream of being able to stand in the sun and perform on the stage was alive, it was already covered in filth.

She was in hell, and next to Chi Jinyan was another side of hell that she had never explored. That was not her place, and she dared not covet it.

Cen Xia fell into a deep sleep while daydreaming.

Only in dreams is there a sunny day that belongs to her.

The moon had not yet set but the sun had already risen. Cen Xia felt like she was woken up just as she fell asleep.

Her biological clock was always very accurate; now was not the time for her to get up.

I rubbed my sleepy eyes and saw Aunt Zhang wandering in front of me. "The young master was afraid that you would oversleep, so he specifically asked me to wake you up early."

After saying this, she twisted her fat body and walked out. The servants were unwilling to stay in the house where Cen Xia lived any longer, and Chi Jinyan would not come here either.

Cen Xia shook her head helplessly. She knew that she could only be at the mercy of others and had no right to choose.

She got up and washed. The housekeeper sent some ointment last night, saying that Chi Jinyan hoped she would get better soon.

I looked and saw that there are many kinds of medicines, such as those for anti-inflammatory treatment of external injuries, reduction of swelling and removal of scars, and those for oral and topical use.

She didn't know whether she should feel relieved and have a certain status in that person's heart.

She put some ointment on her neck. After all these years of hard work, she has always been in good physical condition. She rarely gets sick and recovers easily from illness.

The scars on his hands had scabbed over overnight. Some wounds healed quickly, but some never healed until they festered and the person died.

But she didn't have time to feel sad. She opened her mouth and tried to make a sound. Fortunately, her vocal cords were not damaged, but she couldn't speak much.

I quickly wrapped some gauze around my hands and wanted to go out and start working.

When she pushed open the door, the oppressive atmosphere reacted faster than her eyes could sense, and the fear made her sober up a little.

Chi Jinyan was standing in the corridor, but he didn't mean to leave.

Cen Xia's heart sank and her good mood instantly collapsed. Her fear of him was already engraved in her bones. She clenched her hands and walked slowly to him, wanting to ignore him but afraid that he would be angry.

The soft light of the morning sun sprinkled on half of his handsome face, carving out a perfect outline. He casually wore a white shirt with the sleeves loosely rolled up at his wrists. Although he was a little thin, he was keen on exercising, so the beauty of his smooth muscles was faintly visible under the shirt.

But she had no intention of appreciating him. After just a quick glance, she was overwhelmed by the man's powerful aura and felt it was difficult for her to breathe.

Even though my throat has healed, I don't want to speak. I don't know what I will say to anger him.

She raised her head to glance at his face, then took out the small notebook she carried with her, applied slight force with her left hand, but she ignored the pain and quickly wrote something on the notebook and held it high before handing it to him.

I knew he wouldn't read it, but he rarely turned his head and looked at the few beautiful words on the paper.

"Master Chi, good morning, I'm sorry." She knew that no matter what she did, she should apologize first. The three words "I'm sorry" had long been Cen Xia's label.

The man glanced at her without giving her any extra looks, and didn't seem to have any intention of giving in.

"I'll go back to see grandma in a couple of days." His voice was devoid of any emotion. "Together."

He only left Cen Xia with his back and walked towards the black car in the yard with his long legs.
