Chapter 8

Asher’s POV

The office was a mess, papers littered the floor, pieces of broken glass scattered around, spilled ink all over my desk. Furious couldn’t describe what I was feeling seeing all this mess. My wolf was seething with rage. How dare she make a mess of my office?

She hasn’t even noticed my presence yet. She picked up a mug and was about to throw it somewhere else…

“Enough!” I barked out loud, voice booming over the walls of the office. She tensed up immediately, fear clouding her eyes as she dropped the mug gently on the desk.

“Ash… Asher” she called out stammering, eyes glistening with unshed tears, lips shaking, a sly attempt to try to get to me.

I couldn’t help the growl that came out next “What’s the meaning of all this? How dare you turn my office into your personal venting ground”.

Whimpering, she stepped towards me, tears glistening in her eyes. Placing a hand on my chest, something my wolf seems to despise. Ripping her hands off me aggressively i said

“Don’t touch me”

“Asher, Asher, why? Why are you ignoring me now? What is all this I hear, that you found your mate. I’m your mate Asher, we are meant to be together” she says before pausing and sniffing me

“Why can I smell a feminine scent on you? Is she the one Asher” she questions with a bite in her tone.

“You heard right Isla, I've found my mate, the one destined for me and my wolf. Moreover my wolf likes her already”. With a look of anger and disgust she said

“Your mate, that thing, i heard she is a latent, how can your wolf fancy that. She’s not worthy of you Asher, she’s not someone the pack will ever agree to be the Luna”

Seething with rage at her words, I held her by her neck, her hands crawling at me, attempting to break free of my hold, but she couldn’t. She was so furious and my wolf wanted to rip out her heart with her words.

“You will not disrespect my mate like that ever again. You won’t look at her, speak to her or make snide remarks at her, or I'll have your tongue ripped out. Am I clear?”

Whimpering she answered “Yes Asher”

“It’s Alpha to you not Asher”

“Yes Alp… Alpha” she strained to answer with my hands still on her neck. I finally let go of her, seeing the look of fear in her eyes seemed to calm my wolf.

“Now get out of my office” i growled out

Scramping out of my office, she got to the door and finally turned back to me with a look of defiance

“I’m going now, but this isn’t over, we are not done Asher. You are mine” she said before walking out back.

“You can come in now Raven, I know you’re there”. I’ve sensed the presence of my mate for a while during my argument with Isla. I knew she was standing behind the pillar, listening in on our conversation.

Her presence helped calm my wolf a little or it would have ripped out Isla's heart a moment ago.

Raven’s POV

The moment Asher stood up from bed this morning, I was awake, feeling the loss of his warmth. Something was up and I could tell from the way he tensed up suddenly beside me.

I quickly showered, putting on one of Asher’s shirts and shorts, i went in search of my mate.

I had no idea where he could be and the house was so huge I didn't know where to start from. Asher is yet to give me the tour he promised.

“Good morning miss Raven” a voice said from behind me, startling me

“Holy shit!” placing a hand on my chest, i turned around to see who it was.

“Sorry Miss Raven, didn’t mean to scare you”. A woman who looked to be in her early fifties dressed in a chef outfit gently apologized, bowing her head. She must be the cook.

“Oh no, it’s fine, I guess I'm not used to such a big house and I assumed no one was here,” I said , smiling at her.

“Do you want anything? Breakfast will be served in a bit” she said

“No i don’t need anything, but could you point me in the direction of the Alpha”

She tensed up immediately before stammering out “I…I don’t think you should see him right now, he’s with someone and it’s not looking good”.

I knew something wasn’t right but i didn’t want to put the lovely woman in a difficult position, so i gently asked her again, speaking softly

“I understand you don’t want the Alpha getting angry at you, you don’t have to tell me precisely where he is, just point me in the direction and i’ll find him myself”

Staring up at me, she finally pointed in the direction close to the stairway.

“Thank you,” I said , smiling at her. But before i could leave, she placed her hand on mine, stopping me in my tracks

“Be careful miss” she said with genuine concern in my eyes, this made me even more curious to know who it was with Asher.

“Hmm, I will”. I said patting her hand

I walked in the direction she pointed at, I could smell the faint scent of my mate, the smell of honey and cinnamon grew stronger as I drew closer.

Following the scent, I could hear raised voices coming down the hall from the office and feel the anger radiating from Asher.

The slamming of a door had me ducking behind a pillar. A woman so regal and beautiful stomped out, looking so angry. Black mascara smeared her face from her tears.

She suddenly stopped and whipped her head towards my direction clearly sensing my presence. With the look of hate she strolled towards me. I stood still as she neared me.

I could look at her more. She was taller than me at least by a few inches, had a model physique, long black hair reaching her lower back. Still beautiful even with the scowl she had on her face.

So much anger being directed towards me, she stopped in front of me, i had to look up to see her

“You, you think Asher is yours now right? You this excuse of a wolf. He is mine, he can never be yours” she snarled at me, venom in her eyes, before turning aways, leaving me staring at her retreating form in shock.

“You can come in now Raven, I know you are there”. The voice of Asher brought me out of my shock, but how did he know I was here? Guess it’s this mate thing.
