I was being sold. I shuddered. Whoever would buy me… “Raise your number again, and I will rip out your throat.” Whoever it was, they were violent. I heard a hiss of pain and gasps around the room. Soon after, I was dragged off the stage and down the hall again. Then, I was tossed onto something soft like a bed. “I’m going to untie you now, okay?” “You smell so good…” he groaned and placed a hand on my thigh. “What’s your name?” Staring at the two twins in front of me, I cannot find a word to say. They even told me about a world beyond my understanding. “You’re a hybrid. There are things you need to understand about our world before we take you back to the pack. Thousands of years ago, the Old Moon Goddess passed away.” “When she was alive, we were one large pack, but when she died, we split up. Currently, there are the Black Moon, Blood Moon, and Blue Moon packs. The Blue Moon Pack is the most powerful.” ******Lucy, a hybrid of human and werewolf from White Moon Pack, the second goddess of the moon, the only survivor of the White Moon Pack. She has the power to unify the wolves, and because of her special identity, her parents died at the hands of the alpha of another pack.
view moreA long time ago, the wolf pack was divided into four packs, including the current three packs and a White Moon Pack. The White Moon Pack and the Blue Moon Pack used to be one pack. The blue moon pack possessed the strongest fighting genes and was the dominant force of the wolf pack. The White Moon Pack advocated peace, but the conflict escalated, and the leader of the White Moon Pack led their people to break away from the Blue Moon Pack.
Although the number of White Moon packs is not large, each member is skilled in witchcraft, and each person's strength is comparable to that of an army. Their power comes from a crystal, and they believe in the Moon Goddess, praying that all parts of the wolf pack can develop peacefully. As the Blue and White Moon pack split, the whole power of the Blue Moon Pack gradually declined because their battle genes were too strong to suppress, making it difficult for them to have children, and their population began to decrease. They had to move their pack into the human world. The White Moon Pack, on the other hand, lives in seclusion in the mountains. It is said that the Moon Goddess sealed a part of her power in the crystal, and once there is a new inheritor, they can awaken all of their power with the crystal. As time flows, the Black Moon Pack has the most people and its influence spreads throughout the natural world. Blood Moon Pack is second...*********************************************
LucyIt was exactly four o’clock. Usually, a person my age would just be getting home from high school. I imagined they would come in, grab a snack, sit down to start their homework, or goof around at the mall with their friends like Stacy did.
Not me.I was shining the hardwood floors of the second floor. I still had an hour before I had to make dinner. After I served dinner, I would head to my job at the warehouse. My feet ached thinking about all the work I would be doing packaging boxes all night. The work was hard, but it was better than being here. Sometimes, one of my co-workers would bring me something to eat so my stomach wouldn’t growl all night.I was adopted by a couple when I was three years old. All I know is that he and his wife chose me out of the line of children being sent away. From the moment they brought me home, they treated me more like a servant than a daughter. After eighth grade, I stopped going to school because they felt I had learned everything I needed. I hadn’t learned much more than how to read, write, and add because they sent me to the worst school in the town. Still, I was grateful because it got me away from the house. Every day I walked across town to school because they wouldn’t drive me. Every day they told me that they only adopted me so that they could have someone to do the housekeeping, and so they would be allowed to stay in town even though they weren’t affiliated. They never let me call them mom and dad. “Where’s dinner, girl?!”I flinched at his voice and checked the time. It wasn’t time for me to start making dinner yet. I could only guess that he was upset about something.“Hurry up!” His wife shrieked from downstairs. “We have guests coming!”I pushed the mop down the hallway with a sigh. My head pounded. I hadn’t slept much the night before. I didn’t usually sleep much because of my night shifts and all the chores his wife made me do. I set the mop aside and went downstairs. She was standing by the table. Papers with numbers and information covered the table. He was sitting looking at a few pages in his hand. She turned on me and glared at me. “Well, what are you doing standing there? Hop to it!”I looked down and turned to the kitchen. I opened the fridge only to find it as empty as it had been that morning. She was supposed to go grocery shopping. I gave her my check, but there was nothing. I went to the cabinets to look for something, but all that was there was a case of packaged noodles. I sighed again. If I lived alone, even if I didn’t make a lot of money, I knew I would buy better groceries than this. I would eat well. Maybe I’d ever get to have steak if I saved up enough money. I pulled out a few packages of noodles and a pot. They started arguing, but I didn’t listen to what they were saying. They always argued. They argued about money, about me, and how hard it was to be unaffiliated with the people of the town officially. We lived in the town, but we weren’t a part of it. I didn’t even know the name of the town or who ran it, but it didn’t matter. They didn’t care about me either. No one in the town cared about anyone who wasn’t from the area. I had no one, who really cared about me. I had always wanted to leave. I always thought there had to be something better for me out there. I could have run away, but I knew I would just end up back here. I was just one person—a young, vulnerable woman who could barely look other people in the eye. What was I going to do out there without anyone to help or protect me?I was painfully shy. I couldn’t help it. Even when I went to work at the cafe, I couldn’t say much to customers, even when they were mean to me.I shook my head at that thought. Neither of them protected me. I didn’t know, but as soon as I was eighteen, I could leave this place. It didn’t matter where I would go. I would somehow survive. The doorbell rang as the water started to boil. I added the packaged noodles to the boiling water. “Come in here!”I turned off the pot and walked out. There were three men there. Two of them were very large. One of them looked at me. His lips quirked. “She’s skinnier than you said…”My gut turned. What did that mean? Who were these people? I tried to ask. My eyes caught sight of the symbol on the man’s tie. I recognized the crest. It wasn’t of a family that owned land in the area, but some other group that someone at work told me to beware of. They were up to no good. Instead of owning their own land, they had agreements with towns. They provided some sort of service to them in exchange for being able to do business in the area.Somehow, I knew that whatever had brought them here wasn’t good.“And, you’re sure?” The man asked, still looking at me.“Absolutely,” she said. “She doesn’t know anyone. Not even at her job. She’s more of a mouse than a wolf.”“We’ll see.” He pulled out a briefcase. “Here’s the advance. You’ll get the rest when she’s sold.”My blood ran cold. Sold? Sold to who? For what? I was so scared I couldn’t move. I couldn’t think. He gestured to me. I stepped back as the two men with him walked toward me. One of them grabbed me. I tried to twist out of his grip. “L-Let me go,” I said. He yanked me around, twisting my arms behind my back. I tried to resist, but I couldn’t.“Let me go! What are you doing?”“Just in time too!” His wife said as she pulled out a stack of money and began to count it. “The little whelp was just about to lose any value. Don’t they like them a bit younger?”Was she talking about me?“What—mmph!”A cloth gag was shoved into my mouth. I twisted and tried to get free, but they were too strong. He and his wife didn’t even look at me. She counted the money. He walked into the kitchen and came back with a bowl of noodles.“They’re soggy,” he scoffed. “What an idiot.”“This is the best thing we could have ever done,” she said. “We should have picked up more than one.”He sighed. “Shame. Hopefully, the next one can make a decent meal.”The man who had set the money on the table adjusted his tie. “So long as she sells for enough, the rest of your debt will be taken care of. Whatever’s left afterward will be brought to you.”I dug my heels in as they pulled me towards the door. Then, one of them hauled me onto his shoulder. As they carried me out the door, I caught a glimpse of the calendar on the wall. His wife liked to write lists of tasks for me and stick them on the day. She would cross off the days to let me know what day it was. I screamed, but the street was empty in front of the house as they threw me into trunk of a car. Then, they slammed it closed over me, leaving me in complete darkness.Today was my eighteenth birthday. Most people I knew in our neighborhood would be out with their friends, celebrating. Maybe they would be on dates or finally leaving home for college. Not me.I was being sold.LucyThe morning sun, a mischievous wink through the blinds, painted golden stripes across our bed. I snuggled deeper into the warmth of David's embrace, the rhythmic rise and fall of his chest a soothing lullaby. He slipped his hand across my lower back. The warmth of his bare skin against mine set a spark of pleasure through me. He rumbled low and content into my hair. “Wake up,” David rumbled. He kissed my head and twined a curl around his finger. “We have things to do.”“You shouldn’t have kept me up all night.”He chuckled. “You didn’t say that last night.”I nudged him. He dipped his head to nip my lips. “You know, if it’s too much, you can always tell me to slow down.”He’d been saying that for five years now, and I never found a reason to tell him to. He knew that. His eyes flickered between colors. I nipped his lower lip. “Give me a reason.”He smirked and rolled me onto my back. “To slow down or…”“To get up,” I said as he kissed
LucyI sat on the cold stone, watching her, but she didn’t move another muscle. I didn’t know how long it had been, but it didn’t matter. The spectral glow around her was starting to dim, and my mind was just too stressed to do too much thinking. The light of the ritual, the spell I’d used, the blood on my hands all flashed through my mind, and part of me wondered if it was all just a dream. I looked down at the stained and ruined gown. The armor was as pristine as ever, but most of the embroidered roses were torn or stained. This dress would never be white again, let alone whole. I flicked a piece of the long, gossamer fabric and shook my head. I really liked this dress.“Lucy!”I turned my head toward the sound of David’s voice, wrung out and relieved to hear him. He was rushing through the air towards me. He dropped down a few feet from me, looking so worried I could cry.I smiled at him as he dropped to his knees beside me and threw his arms around me,
LucyI sailed through the air, landing with a jarring thud within the ritual circle. With a trembling hand, I pushed myself up, my senses on high alert. A figure, cloaked in darkness, appeared in front of me. My blood ran cold. Selene."Well, well, Lucy," her voice, honeyed yet laced with venom, slithered into the darkness. "Thank you ever so much for making this easy at last.”I grit my teeth. I wouldn't go down without a fight. Straightening my shoulders, I met her gaze, my voice shaking but resolute. "You underestimate me.” “No, Lucy,” her voice dropped, and a cruel smile twisted her lips. "You underestimate me.” The chanting grew louder around me. I lunged for the necklace, my fingers grazing its cold surface before Selene snatched it away, a triumphant gleam in her eyes. But that touch, fleeting as it was, ignited something. I felt her pushing at my mind. I felt her shoving me back until I could see the forest from before, and we were fighting in a ci
MattMy vision pulsed and flickered, a strobe light of pain blurring the edges of reality. Tony rained blows down on me, slashing with claws. Each hit chipped away at my resolve and my control, leaving behind a raw desperation to end this quickly. My armor protected me from most of the damage, but still. He was always the stronger of the two of us. I thought it was just because he was the older of the two of us, but this was different. I thought for sure he was going to bite off my head. Then, a flash of golden light arced through the air, and a spear lanced past my shoulder, catching Tony square in the chest. I turned back to see Ginevra hovering in the air. Her golden dress glowed as she passed me with a glowing winge spreading from her back. What the absolute fuck?Tony staggered, falling to the ground, and Dad darted forward, encasing Tony in a shimmering web of light. The wave turned to chains. He thrashed and howled, straining against the magical bonds, but t
LucyPeter's breath hitched, rasping, and shallow, then deepened into a cough that wracked his battered body. His eyelids fluttered, eyelids so pale they were almost luminous in the dim torchlight. He struggled to get up, leaning on his Spear and on Michelle. The light pulsing through the Spear rippled over his skin. He let out a soft sigh and stumbled a little. “Peter?”“I... It’s gone.”“What?” Michelle gasped as his hair started to change, losing the gray color and growing dark. His face turned younger until I was sure that he was all of twenty-something. He grew a bit taller, too, bigger until his shirt strained against his chest and his buttons popped. He flushed. “Well… that’s not…” He cleared his throat as Michelle smiled up at him. “So this is what you looked like in your youth?”He scoffed. “I’m much younger than you think.”He grunted, pressing a hand to his side. “Wish the Spear would heal the wound, though.”I winced. “Sorry… it’s a
PeterMy feet pounded a frantic rhythm against the uneven earth, branches whipping at my face, thorns tearing at my clothes. How long had I been running? How much further did I have to go? I didn’t know, and it didn’t matter so long as I got there. My lungs burned, legs screaming in protest, but still I ran. The trail of blood behind me and the patchwork of wounds across my body, chunks of missing and regrowing flesh, weren’t my concern right now. The creature—the wolf was after me, and unlike before, it didn’t seem willing to back off or slow down. It was going to kill me, and what happened after that was anyone’s guess. Behind me, the guttural snarl of the wolf echoed through the trees. Too close to be comfortable. Too close to make sense. This was too much like that dream, but worse. So much worse. The sky was a kaleidoscope of images I could barely make out. They flashed in the sky and in my vision, making it hard to see. I saw Lucy. I saw Michelle. The long
LucyAdrenaline surging, I grabbed Michelle and pulled her after me deeper into the inky depths of the tunnel.“Quick!”She panted. “What’s going on? Peter—”“He’s possessed,” I said. “Just keep running for now!”I saw my Allison up ahead, leading me down another tunnel. Behind us, I heard Peter's guttural snarls, the rhythmic thud of his feet echoed eerily in the confined space. We had to lose him and the other one quickly, but we didn’t seem to be putting enough distance between us. Panic coiled in my gut, urging me to run faster and push my body beyond its limits. Michelle kept up relatively well. We twisted and turned, navigating the treacherous path by torchlight and the spectral murmurs of White Moon's fallen. But the passage seemed to twist back on itself. When we were back at the forked path, the faint light that had been illuminating the tunnel went out, plunging us into darkness.Michelle shuddered. She drew closer to me and tightened her grip on m
LucyI was back in that house with that couple that adopted me. I felt the floorboards creaking as I went downstairs. I saw the men in suits. I shrieked, turning. Not again. I couldn’t be back here. Where was David? How had I gotten back here? I looked down. I wasn’t… wearing the dress or the armor. I had no daggers. My hair was just as uncombed and dry as it had been then. When I looked in the mirror, the skinny young woman who had barely had anything more than ramen and school lunch stared back at me. My stomach lurched. The door opened, and I turned to run, knowing what was about to happen. I dug my heels in as dark shadows pulled me towards the door. I felt myself being lifted onto someone’s shoulders. I fought and kicked, but all my training and all my strength were gone. I saw the calendar on the wall, but the date was different. It wasn’t my birthday. It was the day of the Crescent Moon Festival. I screamed, grabbing anything I could manage. Then, Sele
DavidOren's head arced through the firelit air, landed, and rolled. His body dropped to the ground, still spurting blood. Then, all hell broke loose. The shimmering barrier around the Ball faltered, rippling like a pond, before collapsing entirely. Hunters poured into the arena, their snarls blending with everyone's shocked gasps. “Defensive measures, now!” I yelled, my voice carrying over the sound of the attack. A group of dragon shifters took to the sky as my blade clashed with the first hunter. How had they gotten through the barrier? I saw a flicker of a ghost and growled. “Selene!” I shoved the hunter back, slicing through him before sending out a shockwave of air. She’d been behind this, and maybe she’d been planning this for years, using the werewolf virus to spy on the preparations. It would make sense to try and get rid of me. I was the direct descendant of Fenris. More than that, it was their movements. Each and every one of them moved e
