Chapter 2: Deal With The Devil

FOR a moment, I thought about Chester, the alpha from the second biggest clan in Asia, next to ours. He was the man I was supposed to marry. He was my mate and the only man I had admired and had given my heart to since I was a little girl. In front of my clan, he swore to love and protect only me and yet, he ended up to be the very man who had broken me.

Our five year-relationship ended with just a few words from him.

‘Let’s stop this, Katniss. I’m exhausted. I can’t help you. Doing that will only implicate my own clan. And I am not crazy enough to do that just for you. Don’t contact me ever again.’

And just three days after hearing those harsh words via phone call, I saw his gorgeous face on the television. While I was on the run, Chester was somewhere very comfortable. He was smiling to the media with my very best friend standing beside him. The two were even holding hands.

For a man who looked exhausted, Chester seemed very at ease. News of his wedding had spread. Only this time, the bride was not me. But my best friend who had stolen everything from me: my clan’s glory, reputation, status, and now, even my groom.

If even my own fated mate, my best friend, and my godfather could betray me, then what was there for me to lose in this deal with the devil? My blood, body, and soul… those were nothing compared to what I had lost and nothing compared to what I was about to gain.

I raised my chin and strengthened my resolve. In my head, I could still hear the Alpha King’s warning, but for the first time in my life, I chose not to listen to him. Our clan had strictly followed the rules all our lives. We were patient and kind to everyone.

But that same kindness had brought us in this wretched state. They had pushed us onto the brink. If we would not do anything, all of us would die. Right now, if this devil would say that he wanted my life, then I would gladly give it to him in exchange of saving my clan.

“Then you could have them all, your grace,” I answered after a while.

Not asking for my heart should make me feel relieved. It was something I was not sure I could give. He would have no use of it since it was damaged beyond repair. And he must have known that.

Blade didn’t say anything and just looked at me for a long time. From the lightning outside the window, I saw a faint smile curved his pale lips. The thunder roared once more which made me flinch, but there was another sound which proved to be more frightening than that.

It was the sound of several footsteps. There were people approaching the tower. I may not be able to shift, but my senses were better than most wolves. I could hear them despite the rain and the thunder.

It seemed like I had been found. The knights must have sensed them, too.

“Little wolf, I know you could hear me. This is our last warning to you. Get out of the tower now. I get that you are not afraid of death. But the thing is… those Mages will not just kill you. You don’t know what they could do to you once they find you. They will ruin you in the worst way possible,” one of them warned again from downstairs.

Their king had heard it, too. Blade just kept staring at me. Surprisingly, his knights were in panic because of me, but not him. Why were the so-called followers of a devil worried about someone they didn’t even know?

“The Mages are so close to the tower now. What are you going to do, princess?” Blade asked as if he was testing me.

“What do you want me to do? I belong to you now, my king. I will do as you command,” I responded as calmly as possible.

The king was weak. He had fallen a long time ago and I could see that very well. But somehow, I found it hard not to trust the strength in his eyes. Besides, where else would I go? From the start, this place was my one and only option.

“It took you a long time, Katniss. I almost believed that the prophecy was nothing but a hoax. However, now that you have found me, the waiting process does not matter anymore. Come here,” he said instead in a hoarse voice.

Prophecy? What was that about?

I was confused. I had questions, but now was not the time for them. I chose to stay quiet and just closed the remaining gap between us for fear that he might change his mind. He tried to pull his chains as he stood properly. Again, I didn’t ask what his plans were. I remained in that position even if I could feel that the guests had already passed the gate.

They were walking towards the door. My heart was pounding like crazy. In a minute or two, if I got caught, there was a possibility that I would meet the Alpha King in the afterlife. And maybe I could apologize to him there.

But all those thoughts vanished in my head the second Blade showed me his fangs. And without a word, he buried his fangs deep in my neck. With his every gulp of my blood, I could feel his aura strengthening and filling the entire tower. How did it happen?

What surprised me the most was my body’s reaction to him. I had been on the run for almost a week before I finally had the chance to reach San Jose, Mindoro where the tower was located. I was exhausted, thirsty, and hungry and I thought that aside from those, fury would be the only thing I would feel now.

But no.

Blade was rousing something inside me. Even if he was drinking my blood, to my surprise, I didn’t feel weaker. Instead, I felt revitalized. I could hear my blood thumping. My heart was still racing but for a different reason this time, and my body was feeling something that I shouldn’t, especially at a time like this. The tips of my breasts suddenly hardened and I could feel something warm dripping between my legs.

What was this feeling? Why was my body like this? And to think that Blade was not even touching me. Even with Chester, my fated mate, I didn’t feel as strongly as this before. That was the reason why I managed to preserve my virginity.

Blade took his time feeding on me. The guests had already reached the peak when he finally released me. In an instant, all the chains surrounding him were shattered. And when he roared, the tower shook and the Mages flew away before they could begin casting a spell.

When Blade snapped his finger, the entire tower lit up. And downstairs, I could hear the rattling sound from the chains of his knights shattering in pieces while I stood there, dumbfounded.

“Glory to the king!” they all said in unison. “Glory to the wolf in the prophecy!”

“How could this happen? And what prophecy are they talking about?” I asked, my eyes filled with disbelief. Did my blood really free the devil from the magical chains? Me, who was deemed nobody by other wolves? My status as the Alpha King’s daughter was the only thing that kept me afloat all these years.

“Do you need us up there, your grace?”

“No. I will summon you when I need you,” Blade replied as if he didn’t hear me. “For now, I urge you all to enjoy your first taste of freedom after twenty-five years.”

“Thank you, your grace!”

From where we were standing, I could hear his knights running free outside the tower. Their eager roars at the lawn echoed all over the place.

“What about the Mages?” I inquired.

“Don’t worry about them.” The corner of Blade’s lips turned up. “Judging by how loud the knights are, they must have already fed on the Mages.”

“Aren’t you going to escape? Aren’t you worried that your enemies might find out what happened and attack this tower again?”

He smirked. “On the contrary, I am certain that they are the ones who are worried right now. As we speak, they must already be busy thinking how to escape from this country.”

My jaw dropped. I had never seen a Mage in person, much more, a hybrid. And watching as things unfold before my eyes was nerve-wracking.

When I looked at Blade once more, his shirt had become pristine white. There were no traces of blood in his clothing as if they were brand new again. His lips were no longer pale and most of his wounds had already healed. Now that there were no more chains holding him back, he looked bigger, taller, more breathtaking, and more… intimidating up close.

When Blade stepped towards me, I was about to step back but then he caught me by the waist. Just like that and I could feel my body melting with just his touch once again. He pressed his lower half against my abdomen which made my eyes widen. He was… hard.

Blade’s eyes looked like that of a wolf who had found its meal. And tonight, it seemed that the meal… would be me.

“I know you have questions. And I will answer them after you feed me. I still feel hungry. Right now, there is one thing you must remember about me, princess. Someone like me cannot be satisfied feeding only blood. My body requires more than that to fully recover. To officially seal the deal…” Blade took my hand and brought it in his erection. “You need to feed this part of me, too.”

BACK in the old days, I heard that Blade’s tower was swarming with women. In fact, they said that all the beautiful ladies in the world could be found inside his territory that’s why countless men from noble families wanted to be there but only selected people were invited to join the revelry. So, that was the reason? He needed the women to satiate his hunger through blood and sex? I swallowed hard when Blade gazed at my body. He was only looking at me, but it already felt like he was touching me with his eyes. I stiffened when I felt that part of him getting bigger in my hand. It was my first time touching a man’s private part and I was not quite sure what to do. Blade’s unwavering gaze pierced through me. I quickly took my hand off his lower half. The air was cold because it was still raining outside, but I was sweating buckets. When I pushed him away and I stepped back, to my relief, he didn’t stop me this time. I took a sharp breath to compose myself. Tonight, I even wore my we

MY HEART was beating so fast. I was not sure whether it was because of Blade’s kisses, his touch, or the promise written in his golden eyes. His eyes were burning with desire and hunger, but his big calloused hands on my body were surprisingly gentle as if he was holding a treasure. It seemed that he was doing this to comply with my wish. I didn’t think he would do it though, that he would have a soft spot under that rough exterior. Blade leaned closer and bit my neck. He moaned upon tasting my blood. And there it was again, that carnal pleasure brought by his fangs. It was like an electric current spreading from my neck, to my breasts, and all the way down between my legs. Not long after and I found myself writhing under him. My breasts were quivering, my core was pulsing. “You taste divine, princess. You are a meal worth waiting for,” he whispered after finally leaving my neck. He showered my collarbone with kisses. Every time his teeth would scrape my skin, I would lose my mind.

IT was over at last, I thought while panting. When Blade pulled out, I released him from my embrace and closed my eyes. I didn’t even know I was embracing him until it was over. But seconds later and my body became tight with tension when I felt something rubbing against my dripping flesh. I opened my eyes and gasped when I realized that the one touching and pressing against me was the head of his shaft. He was hard. Again.Blade laughed. The sound was rich and deep. And then he smirked. He looked into my eyes and said, “I am nowhere near done, princess.”His dark gaze then drifted to my lips down to my breasts. I felt his manhood jerk as he stared at me. And again, the heat from his body seeped into my skin, it burned through my veins. I just came. Yet, the tips of my breasts became rigid once more and my core clenched. I bit my lower lip to stop myself from moaning.“Don’t do that,” Blade demanded. “I like the way you moan under me, princess. Don’t stop it.”And as the newest additi

IN A BLINK of an eye, the most beautiful day in my life had become the most tragic one. The guests would remember this as the bloodiest wedding in history. Most of the knights who had sworn allegiance to my family were now on Uncle Titus’ side as they killed our guards who tried to protect us.I screamed when their blood splashed onto my wedding dress.“What is the meaning of this?” Dad hollered as he exposed his claws.Uncle Fredrick, one of the Council members, firmly announced, “Traitor Adam Valenciaga, your status and all of your power as a member of the royal family are hereby revoked from this moment on for committing a treason. And the Council believed you just like that? Where are your proofs that it was me?” he screeched at Uncle Fredrick. “Show me!”“As punish

I SHIVERED when I felt the coldness from the tip of the knight’s blade on my nape. I felt it pierced my skin. And I could smell my own blood dripping. “Katniss!” Archer, my eldest brother, called out just when I was about to lower my head and beg Nicole. He was bleeding profusely already. Still, when he saw my situation, he shifted and bit the knights who stood in his way as he ran to me along with Earl, my second brother, while Dad and Ronan ran to save mom. Nicole and others shrieked when Archer roared. Despite the situation he was in, pain still crossed his amber eyes upon seeing what happened to me. He quickly rubbed his cheek against mine as if to give me some warmth, as if it was his way of comforting me before he released me. He put himself in front of me like he was shielding me from everybody. Earl ran to my side and lowered himself. And when I understood that he wanted me to ride him, I climbed over him. He did not waste another minute and sped away. Earl was the fastest

THE PHONE slipped through my trembling fingers. It fell onto the floor, but the sound of the screen cracking was nothing compared to the sound of my heart shattering for the umpteenth time. I stood there for God knows how long, my body was convulsing. I pulled my hair and screamed, but even my own voice had failed me. It was hoarse because of what I did last night until this morning. My knees shook until I fell down on the floor. My mind was yelling at me, telling me to keep it all together, but I couldn’t breathe. I kept hearing the sound of people rejoicing as they burned the two most important men in my life. I remember their faces. Those were the same people who knocked on our gates, crying and begging for help in an ungodly hour because of the problems in their packs that they couldn’t seem to solve on their own. My parents were busy all the time. They were exhausted and they needed rest too, but even if we stopped them, Mom and Dad still opened their gates for their people and

He thrust himself inside me. I glared at him, aroused and annoyed at the same time, but all the irritation I felt flew out the door when I felt how hard he was. Well, he should be. I sucked him off. And no man in this world could refuse my mouth. Once they get a taste of my tongue, they can’t get enough. The Council members would die to feel my tongue against their rotten dicks once again. THE FIRST thing I noticed was his long, silver hair which I wanted to grab and touch to find out if it was as velvety as it looked. He was tall, maybe a couple of centimeters taller than my beloved. Both of them had the same built. And both of them looked… tasty as hell. So, this was the infamous hybrid, the Devil King? I licked my upper lip. When he slowly walked inside our domain, it was as if he was marking the land as his. He walked with absolute grace and power. The devil was wearing a black suit which made him look so domineering and so expensive from head to toe. This is bad. I can’t stop thinking naughty thoughts. The nonstop ringing of the bell from the tower near the castle must have irked his eardrums. The hybrid glanced at the tower and casually set it on fire which had me giggling.Unlike most of the wolves, I didn’t feel fear at all. That word does not exist in my vocabulary. Instead, what I felt was desire and it burned inside me. I didn’t think I would meet someone who

She looked like a little ball of sunshine with her yellow school uniform, yellow sandals, and yellow ribbons. “Were you eating chocolates again?” I asked. She averted her eyes and denied, “No, daddy.” I grinned. She had traces of chocolates on her plump cheeks. Even her tiny fingers had them. Anyone from a meter away could smell them in her. “Really?” She pouted. “Fine. I lied. Sorry, daddy.” She took out her chocolates and with a proud expression, she added, “But I worked hard for these! You can’t take these away from me.” “You worked hard?” I asked, amused. “Alright. Tell me, princess. What did you sell this time?” Last time, this tiny negotiator sold her stick drawings to the council behind our backs. We only found out when Katniss and I came home and saw countless cakes and cookies in the kitchen. The ministers were so fond of Isabella that she c

(Katniss) EARLY in the morning, I woke up, ran to the bathroom, and threw up. I was already on my second trimester but there were still mornings like this although the doctor had already assured me and Blade that there were some cases when this happens. It was not easy carrying the baby of the most powerful man in all the kingdoms but I was told that our mate bond was helping my body recover from fatigue and the difficulties. And I think it was true. Whenever I see Blade, the stress seems to fade away all at once. I sat on the tiled floor, leaned against the toilet bowl, and took a deep breath. Not long after, Blade showed up beside me. He wiped the sweat off my face. He often sees me like this but his expression was still the same. He looked like he was the one in pain. “I know what you’re going to say next, love. And no, you don’t have to call a doctor for this. This is perfectly normal,” I told him in a hoarse voice. “I wish I could carry her for you,” Blade said instead in a

‘DON’T be like me, son. Do not let them down: your woman and your child. I saw it when I held her hand.’ Those were Pierre’s last words. When I heard it, I felt like cold water had been splashed onto my face. That was when memories of me and Katniss started flooding back in my head. And now after all this time, here we are. When I opened the door, I saw her there. The woman who told me to hurry back home was now peacefully sleeping. It was only two in the afternoon. A soft smile curved my lips when I saw her nesting, it was what female shifters do when they are in heat or pregnant. They would wrap themselves with the clothes of their mate to calm down. She was covered by so much clothes that I could only see her face. “Blade…” she whispered in her sleep. “Yes, love. I’m here now,” I replied and gave her a kiss on the forehead. I quietly took the pile of clothes off her to make sure she would sleep more comfortably. My throat went dry when I saw that underneath all my clothes whic

(Blade)I DID not think that a day like this would come, a day when I would look him in the eyes and I would feel nothing. Today, I received a call from one of the nurses who was in charge of Hawk saying that he was hysterical and was calling for me.I looked around. This place was where Katniss had sent him. In a mental asylum.“What did you do? You are not supposed to look like that! You don’t look broken at all!” Hawk screamed. “Why? You have to suffer! You owe it to me!”He wanted to get up but his knees wobbled and he fell back onto the bed. After I took away his mana, his old age caught up to him quickly. His hair had turned gray. He may look like he was only in his fifties but his body was rotten and was dying inside.Hawk’s glorious days were gone. Now, he appeared as an old miserable man, a fitting end for someone like him.I dragged a wooden chair and placed it in front of him. I sat there and stared at him. OUR wolves immediately sniffed the air. There were no signs of intruders anywhere. My mind went blank. While Blade rushed to check their bodies, my knees trembled and I fell onto the floor.I stared at their blood on the carpet. All the memories we had made together flashed before my eyes. “No, this isn’t happening. Not them.” My voice trailed off. “This can’t be real!” I held my mentor’s hand. “Get up, please! Don’t do this to us!”“These bunch of morons,” Blade uttered after some time. His jaw clenched.“What are you saying?” I asked, confused.“They are alive.”“I don’t understand. I can’t hear their heartbeats anymore, Blade.”“There is still a faint heartbeat. These idiots are like this because they tried a spell without informing me.”And he was right because after a while, I heard the hybrids cough. And when they opened their eyes, their hair started to change its color. From blonde, I witnessed how their hair had turned… dark.“Please don’t scream. You are ruining our eardrums
