Chapter 244

THEY were all staring at her when she woke up on the hospital bed the next day. Her father, husband and daughter, and even Ethan’s parents were in the room and seemed to have waited for her to wake up.

Michelle’s eyes widened in surprise and she tried to sit upright. Selene came to her to guide her like she was a fragile glass. “Careful,” her mother-in-law told her.

“Are you feeling better, Mich?” her father-in-law asked.

All she did was nod, and gaze at them with utter guilt that she made them all worry. She tried really hard not to get involved in any trouble that would cause her to be in the hospital after dealing with all the criminal cases of the people who have hurt her family, but a simple cramp made her falter.

“I’m sorry if I made you all worry,” Michelle stated politely. “I didn’t mean to—”

Selene gently tapped her arm, pouting her lips. “What are you saying? No need to say sorry because as a family, it’s our responsibility to look after each other.”
