Marsha’s optimism was so lovely to witness. Michelle crossed her arms against her chest, leaning on the doorframe of their daughter’s bedroom. She was right there, watching how her husband tucked Marsha on the bed. The way he caressed her little cheeks and pinched them gently brought warmth to her heart.

Marsha giggled. “Daddy, are you excited to see me?”

“Of course, I am. I want to see these chubby cheeks.” Ethan pinched Marsha’s cheek again that made the little girl laughed. “And I want to see my daughter’s pretty face.”

“I am pretty because I inherited your eyes, Daddy!”

“What’s the color of our eyes then?” Ethan curiously asked.

“Mommy said they are marble gray!”

“Hmm, marble gray... that’s interesting. I think it fits you well,” Ethan said and tickled their daughter once more before he kissed her forehead. “Time to sleep, princess. You have to beauty rest. Tomorrow, you promise to exercise with me.”
