Kyler's Pov

“Going somewhere, little wolf?” My voice cut through the silence,  making her freeze.

For a moment, she didn’t move. Then, slowly, she turned to face me, her breath unsteady, her dark eyes locking onto mine.

She didn’t look afraid. If anything, she looked defiant.

“Does it matter to you?" she asked, her voice steady.

I didn’t answer right away. Instead, I just smiled, because, for the first time, I couldn't deny the fact that Lena was ethereal.

The way her dark hair spilled over her shoulders, wild and unkempt, and her lips were slightly parted as if she was daring me to stop her made my wolf restless.

I shook my head, regaining defiance.

I was an Alpha, and I shouldn't be moved by beauty.

If it was about beauty,  then she wouldn't stand a chance with Alison or other she-wolves in the pack.

She was here on a duty and that was to bear me pups owing to the prophecy.

And as for the mate bond, that was just a cruel joke.

She definitely can't be my mate, a divorced Luna?

Hell, No!

My gaze dropped lower, and something in me went deadly still.

The mark on the back of her neck, the mark from our mate bond. It sat on her skin like a scar, a faded reminder of our mate bond.

My hands raced over the mark on her skin and with a force so fast, she shoved them away, her eyes burning with fury.

“Make sure you don't lay those filthy hands on me again” she roared, her voice so loud, shattering my confidence.

“I am sure you should know me by now, no one talks to me in such a manner, little kitten” I growled, my eyes widened.

She let out a cruel smirk.

“From where I am coming from, no one touches me with their sinful hands, the hands that cheated on their mates” she reiterated, breaking every iota of defense I had left.

I left out a sarcastic laugh in response.

“Cheated on my mate?”

“Tell me more of how delusional you think?” I glared at her with a hateful sneer.

“If we are to talk of cheats, you are the real cheat here, you cheated on your mate a few days before his coronation ceremony, doesn't that tell you how shameless you are” My words dropped like an octave.

As though struck with a hard truth, she quietly struggled to keep her mouth closed.

I loved the way my words put her in her rightful place. She was acting so stubborn to my liking. No one had ever dared me how she did

“You seem so stubborn but I think I like your type, they bend at the end” I muttered slowly, gripping her arms in low tones,  impossible for her to break free

She struggled with my grip but my hands overpowered her.

“And listen to me, little puppet, let me make this clear”

“You are not my mate, I own you and you would do as I choose, you add give me pups and that's your role”

“Am I clear?” My words were interrupted by a sudden knock on the door, one of the pack guards followed in shortly.

“The Council of Elders are in the meeting already, they are waiting for you” he informed as he bowed down his head and walked away.

I let go of Lena, stealing the last glance at her before walking away.

The Pack Elders were already gathered when I arrived.

Their expressions were as rigid as stone, eyes sharp and expectant, following his every movement. The air crackled with tension as I walked in.

I  knew why they were here.

They had come for one purpose — to remind me of the prophecy. To urge me, yet again, to accept the mate bond.

I  clenched my jaw, striding toward the head of the long table without acknowledging their murmured greetings. My wolf stirred restlessly beneath me but I  pushed the agitation down, gripping the back of the chair with white-knuckled hands.

Elder Marcus, the eldest of the council, cleared his throat.

"The Alpha of Shadowfang shall rise with unmatched strength, yet his fate is bound to the she-wolf of Bloodthorn. Only she shall bear his heir, the key to his legacy. Should their bond be broken, a curse shall awaken—his power shall wane, his wolf shall wither, and Shadowfang shall fall into ruin." He quoted the prophecy to everyone’s hearing and I could feel his intense gaze on me, waiting for my reaction.

"Alpha Kyler, the signs are undeniable. The omega you purchased is not just a slave,  she is your fated mate."

“You should accept the mate bond, she is from the Bloodthorn pack and the one fated to bear your pups”

My lips curled, a bitter laugh scraping from my throat.

 "Fate doesn’t control me."

“The prophecy is just a mere historical myth used to frighten pups”

“I am an Alpha with a strong bloodline, I have ruled this pack since I was seventeen without a mate and I can still rule the pack”

“My fate is not tied to an omega, a divorced Luna at that” I protested.

“And however how am I sure she is my true mate, I am sure the Moon Goddess wouldn't be so cruel to mate me with a weak wolf, a divorced Luna”

“She is treacherous, doesn't that drive my point home?”

My patience was already wearing thin and I just wanted to leave their presence.

"You cannot outrun destiny," Elder Elijah interjected.

“The prophecy foretold an omega who would either break your curse or bring ruin to the pack. Rejecting her risks everything."

“Lena bears the mark, the crescent moon at the back of her neck, that alone is a testament of the prophecy, what other proof do you need?

His words hit me hard. I  slammed my hand against the table, the sound echoing like a gunshot.

“I have a lover already, I don't think I need a mate and my choice is valid”

Elder Elijah let out a low chuckle as he remained unfazed.

“You can continue with whatever affairs you have with Alison but that doesn't disrupt the fact that Lena is taking over as Luna”

“The mating ceremony would be on a full moon and remember the next full moon is sooner than you think, just a month away” he warned, like a threat coiled in the air.

"I didn’t ask for a mate, and I'm sure as well I  don’t need a fragile omega to save me." My chest heaved, the memory of Lena flashing through my mind.

"She’s weak. She wouldn’t survive me."

One of the elders leaned forward, fingers interlocking.

"Or maybe you fear she will."

My heart thundered, the words hitting too close to the truth. I  turned away, stalking toward the window as the rain raged outside, mirroring the chaos within him.

Because deep down, a part of me knew the elders were right.

And that terrified me more than anything.

“But I am going to make her reject the mate bond, this way I won't be pressured to make her my Luna,” I promised myself.

Lena's PovIt had been two weeks of my stay in the Silver Fang pack and it seemed more cruel than I had ever imagined.I wanted to scream. No, I wanted to rip my ears off and toss them out the damn window. I hate this place. The Silver Fang packhouse was cold, unwelcoming, and filled with wolves who either sneered at me or pretended I didn’t exist. But worst of all was the nightly torture coming from Alpha Kyler’s room.I buried my head under the pillow, my entire body stiff with irritation. The walls of the Silver Fang packhouse were thick, but not thick enough to drown out the muffled sounds of pleasure seeping through Kyler’s door.I clenched my nails tight with frustration, my nails digging into the sheets as another breathy moan rang out, followed by a low, rumbling growl. It sounded disgusting.I sat up, glaring at the wall as if I could burn a hole through it with sheer hatred. Did Kyler have no shame? I was stuck here, forced into this situation against my will, and he was

Alison's PovImmediately after Elder Elijah stepped away, I stared at Lena in pure disgust. Even before now, every time I saw her, it felt like a knife was being twisted in my chest. She had only been in the Silver Fang pack for two weeks, yet everything had changed. Kyler, who had always adored me, now seemed different. Even though he pretended to treat her with indifference, I could see it, the small glances, the admiration in his eyes, which he couldn't hide, the way his eye followed her movements when he thought no one was watching. And I hated her for it.Yanking the bedsheets away from my half-covered body, my blood boiled as I headed toward the door to confront her. She had to be put in her place.Lena had no right to stand here, arguing with Kyler like she was his equal. She had no reason to challenge him proudly even in ways I had never done before and act like she was anything more than what she truly was, a cursed divorced whore, thrown here by fate to breed his pups.“Le

Lena’s PovFor a moment, we just stared at each other. For some weird reason, I felt an undeniable connection to him.My tongue was numb, and my voice was almost impossible to speak.“What should I say to him?”“Why exactly has he defended me?”The tension that hung between us was so thick that it could be easily cut through with a knife.”Kyler stood a few feet away, his arms crossed, his expression cold as it always has.I forced myself to swallow, my voice barely above a whisper. “Why?”His brow lifted slightly. “Why what?”“Why did you stop her?” I asked, my fingers tightening at my sides.“You had always hated me, so why did you defend me?”He just looked at me. Then, to my utter frustration, he let out a mocking chuckle. It was the kind of laugh that sent heat rushing to my face, like I had just asked the most ridiculous question in the world.“You are not important, so don’t flatter yourself,” he said, shaking his head.“I am not flattering anyone here. Kyler's PovI wouldn't have paid much attention to the paper in Lena's hands not until I saw the way her lips quivered, her hands trembling in fear.I took a step to walk away, but Fenrir, my wolf, stirred restlessly, urging me to go back to her.I wondered why he had always loved her. I can't deny the fact that she had heavenly features, which makes her so special, but I could attest she wasn't the only woman with such qualities.“Fenrir, can we go?” I muttered internally, confronting my wolf who was protesting that we comfort her.“We can't leave her all alone; can't you see she is visibly worried?”Clenching my jaws tight, I swallowed hard before walking up to her. I was already getting irritated by her presence and Fenrir’s persistence, but I obviously couldn't do much about it.Grinding my teeth, I turned back. “Hey.” My voice was low, almost hesitant. “Why are you crying?”Lena jerked at the sound of my voice, quickly raising a hand to wipe her tears. “I’m not.”Her watery eyes

Lena’s PovAs I ran down the hallway, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the walls between me were closing on me.My feet clicked against the marble floor; each step felt heavier than the last, and my heart was pounding in my ears.I paused in front of the door to my room, my hand resting on the cold metal handle, my mind a surreal feeling of emotions and endless thoughts. Was I ready for this?My life had taken a huge turn in the blink of an eye.Being rejected, sold, and mated to a stranger as a second-chance mate was so fast to happen in the space of only two months. And now my reputation is in ruins. I am being broadcasted in the pack bulletin as a terrible cheat and whore.Everyone had heard about the news, including the omegas.Just when I thought I would earn some respect from the omegas, the news of my unfaithfulness had made it to the media and I wondered if I would ever be honored again.Different thoughts eluded my mind, each trying to mask the other.I had always wanted to

Lena's PovWe got to an unfamiliar location. The place exuded a gripping natural ambiance and wondrous allure. As we sat down, I couldn’t help but notice how relaxed Kyler seemed. He poured us both a glass of wine, his movements smooth and practiced like he had done this a thousand times before.“This place is beautiful,” I said, glancing around the dimly lit restaurant.Kyler nodded, his gaze steady on me. “I knew you would like it.”I studied him, trying to figure out what was going on. “Why are we here, Kyler?”He leaned back in his chair, swirling the wine in his glass. “Can’t an Alpha take his Luna out for dinner?”I let out a small, amused huff.“You are the one exaggerating here; we aren't mates, remember?”His expression softened just a little, a rare crack in his usual cold mask. “Uhm… Maybe I thought it was time we got to know each other better. You’ve been thrown into my world without much choice. The least I can do is try to make it more bearable.”That caught me off gu

Lena's PovI stared at Kyler, my heart tangled in knots, my tongue tied in my mouth. Before I could even begin to sort through the storm inside me, the car pulled into the long driveway of the pack. The driver stepped out and opened the door.Kyler held out his hand to me, his touch sending a shiver down my spine. I hesitated, but then I placed my hand in his, and the warmth of his skin made my pulse race. He helped me out, and we walked toward the packhouse, silence stretching between us.“They’re holding hands.”“Does this mean he’s finally accepted her?”“I thought he didn’t want a mate.”“To even think about it, she divorced her former mate just to be with him.” I heard the distant murmurs and whispers from the omegas who couldn't focus on their work as we passed.I swallowed hard, my fingers twitching in Kyler’s grip, but he held me tighter, his grip reassuring. We were almost at his chambers when Elder Elijah stepped into our path. The old man’s face lit up with a wide smile, h

Kyler's Pov I shut the door behind me, pressing my back against it as I tried to catch my breath. What the hell did I just do?My lips were still tingling from the kiss, my body still burning with the way Lena had melted against me. I could still hear her whisper my name, and I could still feel her fingers in my hair.I clenched my fists, forcing myself to breathe. That shouldn’t have happened.I had been so stupid and reckless to expose my vulnerability to Lena.My entire body was strung with shame.I was under no obligation to treat her like a wife. I shouldn't have kissed her gently and hungrily as though she meant the world to me.But the way she had looked at me, the way she had trembled in my arms, made me lose control.I shook my head and pushed off the door. I needed to clear my mind. I needed to put distance between us before I did something I would regret. But then, the hoarse voices from the other room made me freeze suddenly. The voices were muffled through the walls, but

Alison's Pov.Theo had given me all the necessary instructions on what I should do.I peeped in through Alpha Kyler's room, waiting for the perfect time to strike. Everything needed to go perfectly. One mistake, and it would all be ruined.I could see Alpha Kyler pacing back and forth through his slightly opened door, his brows furrowed in deep worry.“Poor Alpha!” I scoffed silently. “Look at the all-powerful Alpha, yet so helpless without his little Luna!” I mocked, curling my lips in disgust.I pulled away quickly and rushed back into my room. It was time to act.Slipping into the tiniest, most revealing dress I owned—a silky black one that hugged every one of my curves—I let my hair down and smeared on a glossy red lipstick. I grabbed the tiny vial Theo had given me and poured the strange, glittery liquid into the stew I had prepared.“His favorite,” I muttered with a smirk as I stirred the rich sauce. “Let’s see how loyal you are now, Alpha.”Once the food was ready and the poti

I had always hated people messing up my orders, and I never believed Leonard could be one of them.I had trusted him to be competent and trustworthy in keeping to instructions, but he had just done the opposite.“I asked you to deliver a simple letter to her telling her how much I missed her, but you went ahead to do what you saw fit.”“Hitting her hard and making her go unconscious. Now look at the way the media has twisted the whole story…”“Read the story...” I roared at him, throwing the newsletter in his face.Leonard stood frozen, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth. My fists throbbed from the last punch I landed on him, but I didn’t care. Not when Lena was suffering.I slammed the newsletter into his chest so hard it made him stumble. “Read it! Go on—READ what the pack is saying!”He opened it with shaking hands. His eyes scanned the front page, the bold headline like

Don’t make this harder than it already is.”Before I could even take another breath, he grabbed my arm and yanked me up.I didn’t resist. What was the point?Alison trailed behind us, her heels clicking against the floor like the countdown to my doom.“Aww, look at you,” she whispered behind me, her voice sugary sweet. “All that confidence, gone in a day. What a shame!” “You could’ve at least fixed your hair, Lena,” she whispered with a chuckle. “Oh wait, you’re too busy being a criminal to care about your looks now.”I bit my lip, trying not to cry again. Every inch of me hurts.Where… where am I?I blinked slowly; my vision was blurry, but slowly I started to make sense of my surroundings. The room was dim, lit by a few glowing stones on the white walls. There was a small shelf at the other end of the room which was stacked with herbs. And then another table with bottles and glowing vials. The faint scent of burning sage mixed with bitter medicine filled the air.I was in the pack’s infirmary.I tried to lift my head, but a sharp pain shot through my neck. I winced, letting out a soft cry.My arms felt like jelly, and my throat...?It felt like sandpaper. I could taste the bitterness of herbs and drugs on my tongue. Alison's Pov Have you ever cherished something before, and then suddenly it was forcefully collected from you, and you were left with no choice but to fight for it?That was my case with Alpha Kyler. He used to cherish me.But now I was just another woman in the pack. Forgotten, ignored, and replaced. And no one should blame me for being desperate to get him back. I was not about to watch everything I once had slip away into the hands of someone like Lena.Honestly, I don’t know what hurts more: the loss of his love or the loss of my status.Because ever since Alpha Kyler stopped caring about me, the omegas in the pack don’t even bother hiding their sneers. I once used to walk with my head high, knowing fully well that I was known as Alpha Kyler's lover and no one would hesitate to keep to my orders, but as soon as Lena came into the picture, none of the omegas or pack guards acknowledged me anymore. They were already beginning to see me as another commoner, and some couldn't even hi

Damien’s POVThe stack of newspapers before me did nothing to ease the troubles in my mind as I patiently waited for Leonard's return. It had been twenty-four hours. Twenty-four long, agonizing hours since I sent him to deliver the letter. Yet still, I had heard nothing from him, not even a single word or report, and the worst, he wasn't back yet.The silence in my office was deafening. My heart had been racing non-stop since the moment I handed Leonard that damn letter to deliver to her.I know how stubborn Lena can be. I knew if she received the letter, she wouldn't hesitate to write back to me, but I wasn't sure what I expected from her.“Would she curse me?”“Would she throw some punches at me through the paper, or worse still, would she remind me of how she hated me because of the way I sold her off?A small part of me whispered the worst: “What if Kyler found out? Lena’s Pov“What do you want?” I asked, trying to keep my voice calm, even though my gut was twisting in knots just looking at her.Alison’s smirk widened like she could smell my unease. “Relax, Luna,” she said, dragging out the title like it was a joke. “I was just taking a walk and thought it was adorable how you're being shown around like the special little pup you are.”I crossed my arms, already getting uncomfortable by her presence. “I was asked to take a tour of the pack. That’s all.”“Training and a tour?” she purred, stopping a few feet from me. “You must be special.”I narrowed my eyes. “I don’t have time for whatever you are here for, Alison.”She tilted her head, her expression mock-innocent. “Oh, relax. I’m just saying, it’s sweet how Alpha Kyler makes time for you. Sending guards, planning your day. Very sweet indeed.”My fingers curled into fists. I didn’t want to give her the satisfaction of getting under my skin. “He’s just helping me adjust. That’s what a good Alp
