I gave a few instructions to my men before shutting the office door and locking it behind us.

I turned to her, a smirk playing on my lips. “Didn’t you like the stares you got, my little slut?” My voice was low and teasing.

Athena stepped closer, her hands immediately going to the buttons of my shirt, slowly undoing them. “I only like the attention I get from you, Julius,” she purred, looking up at me through her lashes.

I grabbed her wrist, stopping her movements, my grip firm but not painful. “Are you sure?” I tilted my head, my eyes studying her face. “Because you seemed to enjoy seeing those foreigners stare at your breasts.” I scoffed, tightening my hold just a little. “They were probably fantasizing about having you in bed the entire meeting.”

It doesn’t matter what was going on in their heads, does it now?” She continued unbuttoning my shirt, her fingers brushing against my skin. “What matters most is that I fully belong to you.”

She always knew exactly what to say. Al

I was finally getting discharged. The moment Daniel told me I was free to go, I spread my arms in happiness."Let’s hang out sometime later, beauty," Daniel said with a grin.Jesse shot him a look of jealousy."All of us, of course," Daniel added quickly.I laughed heartily. Over the past few days, we had gotten a bit closer. I turned to Jesse. "Why didn’t you introduce your funny friend to me earlier?"Jesse smirked. "I was going to, in due time."As I stepped outside the hospital, the fresh breeze hit me."Finally," I sighed. I never wanted to be stuck in one place again. But just as Jesse and I were about to leave, I saw a face I hadn’t planned to see anytime soon.My mother. She rushed to me, pulling me into a tight hug.“Bella, why didn’t you tell me you were in the country? I’ve missed you so much all these years. If not for someone reaching out to tell me you were around, I never would’ve known.”Someone? Who was that? I was curious, but I didn’t ask her anything. She cupped my

As soon as I got into the back seat of the car, I collapsed into Jesse’s arms."Why doesn’t she love me?" My voice cracked as I buried my face in his chest. "Aren’t I enough for her?"A single tear slipped down my cheek, the pain clawing at my heart.Jesse gently wiped it away. "You’re more than enough," he murmured. "She just can’t see clearly."His voice was soothing, but the bitterness inside me only grew."She’s lost a diamond for a stone," he added, his tone darkening. Then, after a brief pause, he asked, "Should I handle her for you?"I tensed immediately. "No. No, Jesse."I had seen how he "handled" people at his headquarters. It never ended well. Death. Mutilation. Fear.I was angry—furious, even—but I didn’t hate her enough to let that happen."Just leave her," I said, taking a deep breath. "Let them suffer the consequences of their own actions."Jesse nodded, but I didn’t miss the calculating glint in his eyes.He wouldn’t touch her—but the business? He’d make sure it crumbl

My vision blurred as I read through the words. The article painted me as a selfish daughter who turned her back on her struggling family, choosing instead to live in luxury under Jesse’s protection. It made it seem like I had never tried to support them, never cared for them, and now I was ignoring their desperate pleas for help.Worst of all, there was a direct quote from my mother:"Bella was always a difficult child. We tried our best to raise her with love and kindness, but she was never satisfied. She cut all ties with us. It’s heartbreaking as a mother to be treated this way after everything we did for her."I stared at the words, my hands shaking.Difficult child? Love and kindness? Was this woman serious?Who was she to make those types of statements in the first place? I felt like I was going to be sick.I scrolled further down, finding even more fabricated lies. My brothers had given statements as well, backing up my mother’s claims. They even went as far as to say I had st

I leaned back on the chair, tapping my fingers against the desk as I watched Luke stand waiting for my instructions. Jesse’s men were nothing if not efficient. Within hours, they had dug up more dirt on my dear brothers than I could have imagined."How bad is it?" I asked, my voice calm but laced with anticipation.Luke placed the thick file in front of me. "Bad enough to bury them alive," he said simply.I opened the file, my eyes scanning the pages. The deeper I read, the more disgusted I became. Jacob and Edward had turned the family business into their personal playground of corruption.Jacob had been siphoning funds from investors, creating fake projects to funnel money into offshore accounts. His reckless gambling habits had drained millions. And Edward—always the smarter one—had been covering it up with cooked books and falsified reports. But the worst part? They weren’t just ruining the business. They had involved dangerous people. Loan sharks. Underground deals. If I releas

“Betray Mom.”I said it coldly, knowing it was the best way to hurt her. If there was anything that would break her, it was having her beloved son—the one who could do no wrong—turn against her.Jacob scoffed. “You’ve changed.”I let out a cold laugh. “Oh, don’t pretend to know me, Jacob. You never cared enough to get close. You were only ever nice when you needed something.”His voice hardened. “You’re so cruel to family. No wonder Mom never really loved you.”For a split second, it felt like he had driven a knife straight through my chest. But I refused to let it show. I straightened, my voice turning ice-cold. “I don’t care about her love.”I stepped closer, my tone sharp and unwavering. “You have two options, Jacob—save yourself or go down with the rest of them.”I could hear the hesitation in his breathing. He exhaled sharply before answering, “What do you want me to do for you?”Just as I expected. He bent.Jacob had always been the selfish one—when pushed into a corner, he’d a

"Do you still love him, Bella?"Julius. I parted my lips, wanting to deny it, wanting to tell him that I had moved on, that I had left that part of my life behind. But the words wouldn’t come.I didn’t still love Julius. At least, I didn’t think I did. But what was this hesitation? Why couldn’t I just say it?Jesse pulled away slightly, just enough to look into my eyes. His expression was unreadable, but the slight furrow in his brows told me enough. He was hurt."You won’t answer me?" His voice was quieter now, but there was an edge to it.I turned my gaze back to the water, avoiding his eyes. "It’s not that simple, Jesse."He let out a bitter laugh, stepping back entirely. The loss of his warmth sent a cold chill down my spine."It is that simple, Bella." "Either you love him or you don’t. Either you’re mine or you’re not."His words sent my heart into a frenzy. Mine. He really wanted me to be his."Jesse—""Forget it." He cut me off, shaking his head. "I shouldn’t have asked."I r

The maître d’ greeted him with a deep bow. “Mr. Jesse, your private table is ready.”Private table? Didn’t he just decide to bring me here? I wondered when he was able to make the reservation. As we walked toward the secluded corner near the floor-to-ceiling windows, I couldn’t help but admire the breathtaking view. Jesse pulled out my chair, his fingers brushing my back as I sat. A shiver ran down my spine, but I quickly masked it.A waiter approached carrying a tray, then he poured us wine as Jesse instructed before disappearing.I picked up my glass, swirling the liquid inside. “You do realize I’m capable of pouring it myself, right?”Jesse leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table, watching me with sharp amusement. “I do. But I prefer spoiling you.”Spoiling me.I almost laughed. If only he knew how foreign that concept was to me.Instead, I rolled my eyes and set my glass down. “Is this your way of distracting me?”His smirk deepened. “Well, is it working?”Noticing my unc

Edward, Jacob… it’s not true, right?” Her voice wavered, a mix of disbelief and desperation.Jacob shifted uncomfortably, avoiding her piercing gaze.Edward, however, was quick to react, his expression twisted with rage. “It must be Bella! Marcus stood waiting near the end of the corridor, arms folded, eyes sharp.“He talked?” he asked.I gave a tight nod. “Just enough.”“The black ring and dragon tattoo?”“Yeah.” I looked at Marcus. “Find every known criminal, agent, mercenary, and ghost in the underground with a dragon tattoo and a black ring. I want a list by tonight.”“Yes, sir.”“And Marcus—” I added, stopping as I reached him. “Double the security. If this masked bastard is watching, he’ll know Damon’s alive. And he’ll want him dead before he says too much.”Marcus’s jaw tightened. “Understood.”I walked past him, down the hall and into the war room. The lights inside flickered to life as I entered. I sat down heavily, opened the folder labeled “B-67 Blacklist,” and began scanning. It had been over a week since I left Dexy City—since I left Bella.I’d promised her I wouldn’t be gone too long, yet here I was. “Still nothing?” I asked Marcus without looking up from the intel sprawled out across the table. He shook

He started talking the moment the offer left my lips—his words spilling out like floodwaters from a broken dam.“I was working for him long before I started working for you,” Damon said, his voice hoarse, unsteady. “He... he saved me. I can’t even remember when it began. One day, I just started having these unbearable headaches—pounding, violent. It felt like my brain was cracking open. I was losing control.”His cuffed hands trembled violently. Sweat glistened on his temples, trailing down the curve of his jaw.“I started hearing things… seeing things. Paranoia took over. I’d black out and come to in places I didn’t recognize. Then one day—he appeared. Like he knew I needed help. He said he could fix it. Took me to a doctor, promised they’d make something just for me. A pill to silence the madness.”He paused for breath, voice cracking under the weight of memory.“Since then, I’ve taken one pill a year. Always on June 16th. He told me that was enough to keep it in check. Later, he as

The adrenaline from the mission still pulsed in my veins, but I didn’t let it show. My focus now was Damon.Betrayal had a price.“Lock him up in Interrogation Room A,” I ordered coldly, wiping the blood from my busted knuckles as the president’s men dragged Damon out of the vehicle. One of them hesitated. “But… sir, shouldn’t we—”I cut him off with a sharp glare. “The president gave me full authority over this mission. I want him here. Under mycommand.”The soldier nodded slowly. “Alright, sir.”Marcus didn’t even speak—just yanked Damon forward and shoved him ahead of us. He looked like he wanted to kill him on the spot, but I gave him a look that said not yet.We reached the underground level of the headquarters. Metal doors lined the walls. Interrogation Room A was the coldest, most unforgiving room in the entire place.Exactly where I wanted him.Damon was shoved into the steel chair, arms wrenched behind his back and locked in titanium cuffs. His legs were chained to the floor.

Jesse’s POVLeaving Bella was the last thing I wanted to do. As I walked out that door, my chest felt heavy—like I’d left a piece of myself behind with her. She looked so small wrapped in my arms before I let go, her voice trembling slightly when she asked if I had to leave again. I hated this—having to constantly walk away from the one person who made me feel at peace. But some things had to be done. I decided to take the job because there was something I wanted from the president."Let’s get this over with," I muttered under my breath as I arrived at headquarters. "The sooner this is done, the faster I can get back to her."Inside the secure compound, I summoned Marcus and Damon—two of my most trusted men. They showed up fast, already geared up and serious.“I want five more men,” I said without wasting time. “We’re infiltrating the enemy base today.”Damon raised a brow. “Only five, sir?”“Yeah,” I confirmed. “We just need to extract a few materials. Julius leaned forward, his voice low and venomous. “No, Bella. It’s all true. Jesse’s sister, Emma.” I shook my head in disbelief, unable to process what he was saying. “This doesn’t make sense. Jesse would never—”Julius cut me off with a harsh laugh. “You still don’t get it, do you? I’ve got the evidence. And so do you now.”He brought out another folder and gave it to me. Inside were more documents—police reports, coroner’s photos, and a handwritten confession. I flipped through them in a daze. Each piece was more damning than the last. My mind felt foggy, the words swimming in front of my eyes. The confession was chilling.I slammed the papers back onto the table, my breath coming in ragged gasps. “No. This isn’t true. You’re just trying to manipulate me, Julius. Why? What do you want from me?”“You think this is manipulation? You think I’m the bad guy here? I’m trying to protect you, Bella. The investors leaned forward slightly, intrigued. I smiled inwardly, knowing they were now hooked.I zoomed in on the global map. “Here, we can see live data streams from multiple international sources, processing billions of transactions per second. This is real-time data aggregation from diverse sectors—finance, health, retail, government. It doesn’t just sit in one database. It integrates seamlessly into various networks worldwide.”I glanced at their faces—curiosity was beginning to replace skepticism. The woman in the navy-blue suit, who had been the most critical so far, raised an eyebrow. “Live data? So this system adapts dynamically?”“Exactly,” I said, clicking through to another screen. “But it’s not just about gathering data. It’s about interpreting it. This is an AI-powered engine that learns from every interaction. The more it works, the smarter it gets. Predictive algorithms adjust in real-time to forecast market trends, consumer behavior, even weather patterns.”I could
