Chapter One

As I scrolled through the pictures on my phone, a chill ran through me. The woman my husband had been seeing dared to send me photos flaunting their affair. I tossed the phone onto the bed, my heart felt as though it was on fire. It was early summer in Dexy city and the heater was turned on but I felt so cold at this moment. He had told me he was going on a business trip, but instead, he'd gone on vacation with her. I scoffed at the absurdity of his lie. From the very start, he had made it clear—he only married me because his grandfather had forced him, and I could have refused. Tears welled in my eyes as I whispered, "But I didn’t listen... I was so madly in love with you, Julius. I needed you. I wanted to escape my own home so desperately. I did everything a loving wife would, We had so many maids in the house but I always woke up very early to serve him his favorite tea. I would make him his best food whenever he was upset. But all of my efforts only earned me a frosty glance...

Chapter Two
I woke up shortly again. I tried to sit up, but a piercing pain went through my stomach and drove me back down. Panic started as scattered memories of the attack tore across my consciousness. The cell. The knife. The chilly remarks of the woman. I looked down at my body expecting to see a bloody mess but I was bandaged up quite neatly. “You’re awake again.”I was jerked from my thoughts by a powerful, dominating voice. He was still sitting close to me. But this time around,he moved a bit closer, his violet eyes scanning me with curiosity. He looked very noble and elegant and there was something very alluring about him. “Who are you?” I croaked, my voice hardly a whisper.“My name is Jesse,” he said, pulling up a chair and sitting beside me. “I’m the one who got you out of that hellhole.”I stared at him, trying to piece together his motives. “Why did you help me?”Jesse’s lips curved into a faint smile. “Because you’re valuable to me, Bella. And because we have a common enemy.”Be

Chapter Three (Julius’s Pov)
It’s been three long years since Bella’s disappearance. I searched for her everywhere. I didn’t want to believe that she disappeared just like that. I despised her for the longest period. I loved Athena. Athena made me feel wonderful, she loved me for myself, and most importantly she was submissive and emotional. She praised me to the highs for the littlest of things. Bella, on the other hand, was always indifferent, she would cause problems all the time. And was very selfish. But for some reason, I had never felt lonelier since Bella left.I snapped out of my thoughts—I had a meeting with my business rival. Jesse Hart. He had wealth, power, and connections to the underground alliance, one of the most powerful alliances across the country. He had tried to snatch some of my business deals. But now, he suddenly reached out to me to collaborate. I wondered what he was trying to do now.I stepped into the meeting room, my eyes wandering as I observed my surroundings—until they landed o

Chapter Four (Bella’s Pov)
After we got back to the penthouse— We decided to have a drink in my room to celebrate the beginning of our plans. He sat on the edge of the bed, swirling the last of his drink in his glass, a smirk tugging at his lips. “You handled him well today. I'm proud of you,” he said, raising his glass in a faux toast. I took a slow sip, feeling the bubbles tingle on my tongue. “I wanted to hurt him badly the minute I saw him,” I replied, my expression neutral, though inside, I was still raging. Jesse chuckled and set his glass down on the nightstand. “Still, you played your part perfectly. But tell me, Athena… Do you still love him?” My body stiffened, and I blinked my eyes, my heart skipping. “That’s none of your business.” “I think it is,” Jesse said, his voice dropping, his expression changing slightly. “This whole plan depends on you keeping your emotions in check. If Julius still has a hold on you…” I felt the anger swelling inside me, but I pushed it down. “I stopped loving Ju

Chapter Five
I hardly had time to absorb the dread crawling up my spine before Julius crossed the room in two fast steps, right to where I was standing. His presence devoured the air between us; the room felt so suffocating. It had been so long since we were last alone, just like this. Before I could step back, his hands were already on me, gripping my waist with a sense of urgency that sent my pulse racing. His scent—chocolate and oud as always—I could smell it all around me, making it impossible for me to think clearly. Then, as he leaned in even closer, his lips brushed against my ear, his breath hot against my skin, sending an involuntary shiver down my spine.“Bella,” he murmured, his voice heavy with longing. “You don’t know how much I’ve missed you.”His words filled with suffering and hopelessness, coiled around me like a plea.“Come back to me. Please.”His lips wandered around my cheek before eventually finding mine—hot, urgent, and utterly consuming. It was a very demanding kiss… It did

Chapter Six (Jesse’s PoV)
She had lost consciousness.I had seen countless bloody bodies in my line of work. I had watched men beg for their lives, had stood over corpses without so much as flinching. But seeing her bleeding, so still in my arms, sent a fear through me that I had never felt before. A cold, paralyzing fear that tightened around my chest like a vice.I couldn’t lose her. Not again.Without wasting another second, I lifted her into my arms and rushed to the car. My men had already been dispatched, chasing after the car that hit her and fled. Whoever did this will pay.The second I got into the back seat, I pulled Bella closer, letting her rest on me. Her skin was growing colder by the second, her breathing faint. The car felt too slow. "Drive faste Luke!" My voice was intense, filled with barely restrained panic.Luke hesitated—a half-second of hesitation too long. "But sir, we’re already going way past the speed limit, what if—""You know what happens when I repeat myself." My tone was cold.Lu

Chapter Seven (Julius’s PoV)
No. Bella had to be lying. There was no way she was pregnant with Jesse’s child.I clenched my fists in anger, but then I recalled the way she kissed me. The hesitation in her touch, the fire in her eyes—she still wanted me. I could feel it.I smirked. I just need another opportunity to be with her again. As I stepped out, I could hear hushed whispers everywhere. A small crowd had gathered, murmuring amongst themselves. My gaze drifted to a small pool of blood on the ground."What a poor girl.""I wonder if she’s alright.""Yes, she had blonde hair…"Blonde hair.I froze. That sounded like Bella.I started panicking then I grabbed one of the onlookers by the collar. “What happened here?”The man scowled and tried to shove me off. “Let go of me—”I tightened my grip, and before he could say another word, my bodyguards stepped forward, towering over him. His expression changed instantly. He paled, trembling as he stammered, “I-It’s just a girl… A girl with blonde hair… She was hit by a

Chapter Eight (Jesse’s PoV)After the confrontation with Julius, his words echoed in my mind. You killed your sister. That information was supposed to be completely inaccessible. Someone must have leaked it—there was a spy in my organization. I needed to investigate properly.I turned my gaze towards Bella. Even in deep sleep, she had an air of refined beauty and grace. Pushing my thoughts aside, I stood up. I had work to do. Before leaving, I instructed to my subordinates. “No one is allowed inside this room except Daniel. If anyone else tries to enter, deal with them.”With that, I left.Later That Evening… When I returned, Bella still hadn’t woken up. My brows furrowed in concern. I was about to call Daniel when the door opened, and he walked in.“Why hasn’t she woken up?” I demanded.Daniel sighed, rubbing his temple, a habit of his when he feels exasperated. “It’s only evening. I gave her a strong dose of midazolam to ease her pain. She’ll probably wake up tonight or, at the la

Chapter Nine
When Luke brought in the food, Jesse took a spoonful and moved it toward my lips. I instinctively pulled back, shaking my head slightly.“I can eat by myself,” I protested.Jesse’s expression remained calm but firm. “Your arm,” he reminded me. “You can’t eat by yourself in this condition.”I hesitated for a moment, glancing at my injured arm. Before I could respond, Daniel, who had been watching with an unimpressed expression, muttered under his breath, "She can still eat with the other arm, you know."He let out an exaggerated sigh before coughing and saying, "Alright, I suddenly have a lot of work to do. I’ll be back later to run the tests."He had no plans of sitting through the unbearable display of affection. Being reminded of how single and lonely he was? No, thank you. Without another word, he quickly left the room.Jesse, completely ignoring his actions, continued to feed me. I eventually gave in, taking each spoonful without protest. After I finished, he took a few bites hims
