They left the office and walked towards the elevator and boarded it. Annette assumed he was taking her back to the lobby, but imagine her surprise when Xavier presses 'P' instead of 'L' of the lift buttons after the door of the elevator closes.
She shot him a confused look but kept her month shut. She did not want to annoy him, before he changed his mind and decided not to help James anymore.
It took them to the top floor of the building, and the lift door slid open.
He stepped out of the elevator ahead of Annette and waited for her to join him.
She steps into what appears to be a receiving room.
Her eyes widened as she took in the lavish decor of the room.
"This is my penthouse," Xavier informed her, while stepping forward into the room.
This pales in comparison to what she saw in the lobby downstairs. From the luxurious fluffy carpets covering the floor to the gray and white decorations that match the dark wood furniture.
"Do you live here?" She asked him, moving further into the room. The room was stunning; she was yet to see the rest of the apartment, but she had a feeling that it would not look any less elegant.
The room was stunning but void of any personal touch.
"Yes, from Monday to Friday. Weekends I stay at the mansion."
"Ok, I get it." She said, nodding her head.
"You will stay here, Annette, for the time being," he instructed. She opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but he cut her off.
"Don't argue with me on this."
Well damn, Annette detests being told what to do, but for now she would do as he said, for James.
The Michaelson mansion. A few years ago, when she was a teenager and her aunt was still married to Xavier's uncle, she had lived in a small property set aside in the estate.
There were enough rooms in the mansion to accommodate her family, but they were not allowed to live there. This has annoyed her mother, but Annette had seen the reason for their actions. They were humans, not werewolves like Michaelson and their pack, and for that reason, they did not fit in.
And now, it looks like history was repeating itself because Xavier took her to his penthouse and not the mansion, and like before, she was to be hidden and kept out of sight where she would not be seen by the pack.
They walked into the sitting room, and what greeted them had Annette grinding her teeth. It was the receptionist, sitting on a white cushion like she owned the fucking place.
"Xavier dear, I was hoping...."
Her words trailed off when she saw Annette standing with Xavier.
'Xavier?'
'Dear?'
Seriously? Wait, what was she doing here, in Xavier's penthouse?
Her voice sounded off, just like it did downstairs. It was some kind of alluring and seductive voice. What was her name again? Sofia? Yes Sofia.
She has taken off the jacket she had worn in the lobby and put on some kind of camisole top, making herself at home. Was she here for a meeting with Xavier? Do Xavier often hold meetings with his receptionist in his penthouse?
It looks like the receptionist was not happy with the site of Annette, while, bitch, the feeling is mutual.
"Is she still here? I thought you were going to throw her out." Sofia said, giving Annette a cold stare, her eyes flashing bright amber.
Xavier moved deeper into the room, eyes fixed on Sofia.
He did not respond to what was said by Sofia; he simply ignored her.
"Annette will stay here in the penthouse for some time. Get her proper clothing for the event that is to be held this evening, Sofia."
"Yes, sir," Sofia said, not meeting Xavier's gaze.
So she was a werewolf after all, but not a born wolf - a wolfling maybe.
Wolflings are werewolves who were once humans but were made wolves after they got bitten by a werewolf and went through the transformation process.
Sofia's ranking in the pack will be based on the one who bit her; she could be a high-ranking wolf or a low one. If it was a high-ranking wolf, her rank in the pack can be higher than some born wolf.
Could she have been bitten by Xavier?
Sofia turned to face Annette, taking her in.
"I will do my best to find something that will fit her full figure."
The hell. Who does this bitch think she is? Annette was in shock; she loves her curve very much, and she was not ashamed of how she looks.Xavier gave Sofia a dead stare; his face was expressionless. Blank. But Annette could visibly see the muscles in his jaw tightening."Down this corridor, four doors by your right; make yourself comfortable, " he said, turning to Annette. "I would like to have a word with you, Sofia." He said walking past Annette with Sofia not too far behind.Annette stood in the sitting room for a moment trying to process what just happened. She knew that she should mind her business and not get herself involved in whatever is going on and follow Xavier's instructions, but curiosity got the better of her, and she found herself silently trailing behind them. Could Xavier be fucking his receptionist? Gods, if that is the case, she would have to get her eyes watched. The thought alone made her feel nauseous. She knew that some bosses mess around with their recept
Annette walked back to the setting room, heading to the receiving room. The door to the lift was closed, and the light above showed it was moving downward. She could not find any keypad on the elevator; there was no fingerprint scanner. That means the elevator can only be accessed by card. There was no way out of this apartment. Shit. She ran her fingers down her face in frustration. Damn. She decided to explore the apartment since Xavier had not said anything was off limits, so she did not see anything wrong with snooping around a little. She returned to the living room: instead of taking the door leading to the hall, she took another door and walked into what appeared to be a large and luxurious kitchen. It was equipped with white cupboards and granite countertops. Luxurious appliances and stainless steel pots and pans were hung up on the wall. The island in the middle of the room was stunning; bar tools lined each side. Stepping out of the kitchen and into the sitting room. The
Annette jerked awake. Something had woken her up; it was the sound of breaking glass and growling. The sound was loud and intense. She sat upright on the bed, pushing her hair away from her face. The room was bathed in darkness; the moonlight shimmering in through the window was the only source of light in the room. The sun had long set. She had only wanted to take a nap after the messed up day she had.She must have fallen asleep. How long has she been asleep for?"Motherfuckers."She heard someone cursing. It seems to have come from one of the rooms down the hall. Who was it? Was it Xavier? Was he back? He sounded furious and annoyed with something. Annette thought was racing as she slipped from the bed and pushed to her feet. Leaving the room, she walked down the hall; her bare feet made no sound as they came into contact with the thick plush carpeted floor as she went in search for the origin of the sound. As she walked down the hall, she realized that the noise was coming from
Fuck. He was so muscular and ripped. He towered over her; her head barely reached his shoulder. His body was tensed, and both of his hands braised on the kitchen sink. His head was bent, his silk hair cascaded over his forehead. Annette reached out to pick one of the cotton balls from the kitchen sink; she was determined to help him. His wounds were dripping blood; it was a gruesome sight. But before her fingers could come in contact with the cotton balls, Xavier's hands shut out like a cobra, grabbing her hands, and stopping her. His sudden movement made her lose her balance. She was stunned by it.She placed her hands on the countertop by the sink to steady herself."I thought I asked you to leave, Annette?" "Please, Xavier, let me help. I want to help you patch up your wounds, please." she said, literally begging him with her eyes., trying to convince him. Xavier gave her a hard stare, studying her face. Perhaps it was to check if she was sincere or something, but she didn't car
"Ms McKinney?" The high pitched voice of the receptionist cut through her thoughts."Are you certain you have an appointment with Mr. Michaelson? I have gone through his schedule, and your name is not here," says the receptionist seated behind the glass and steel desk.Holy fuck. Annette was in deep shit, and a very nasty one at that. Annette McKinney sat in the expansive lobby of the Michaelson Empire and did all she could in order not to have a heart attack. She really did, but it appears that her body have a mind of its own. She could feel the tell-tale sign of a panic attack setting in. Trying to control her breathing, she did a little bit of breathing exercise.Until one month ago, she had never suffered stress or had any problem with a panic attack.Annette was an independent woman, making her way in the business world. She may not have an empire as big as the Michaelson but her pastry and small chops business down town was doing well. A business she single-handedly establish
That had been the end of their relationship and the last time Annette had seen any of the Michaelsons. Not physically per se. She had been keeping track of them on the news like the rest of the world. However, she refused to give her opinion on the looks and appearance of Xavier, the current alpha of the Michaelson pack, whenever her colleagues swoon over him. But as good looking as Xavier might be, appearances does not make up for his cruel attitude. And this is the same man she has to persuade into helping her. Fuck. This appears to be impossible."3:30 you said, that is unlikely because he has a 3:30 meeting with a client," puckered her blood red lips in confusion.Seriously, did Xavier demand the women working for him to dress like barbies in desperate need of sex or did they decide to look like this on their own in the hopes of snaring the billionaire werewolf."It is a brief meeting," replied Annette. Well, very brief. Annette thought.Enough time for him to get security to come
"I do know you." His voice sharp as a blade cut off her sentence before she could complete it. Arrogant bastard. She thought. But it did nothing to calm the storm she was facing, not in the slightest."What I am more interested in is why you are here." He said."Mr Michaelson, she claims that she have a 3:30 meeting with you," the receptionist said. Her voice seems to have changed, she was doing all she could to sound sexy and attractive, perhaps trying to get Xavier's attention at all cause, but in reality the sound of her voice was annoying. Annette had to stop herself from making a comment.Xavier gave a silent nod, not looking away from Annette."Please, I need your help.. For James."She finally said it. She could feel the gaze of the receptionist on her as she waited for his reply. The receptionist gave Annette a once over, sizing her up, and Annette gave her a dead stare in return. Annette was a woman who had curves in all the right places. She was provoke to run her hands al
He might as well be leading her to the lion's den.Xavier thought as he stepped to the side, making room for Annette to leave the elevator ahead of him.He was in shock when he spotted Annette McKinney in the lobby today, she was the last person he was expecting to see.She stepped out of the lift, giving him a small nod of the head and walked past him. Xavier took the opportunity to study her; he swept his gaze over her body while she wasn't paying attention. And damn, she was no longer the little girl he once knew; she had grown into a beautiful woman and a hot one at that. Her once slender figure has developed into an irresistible hourglass figure, taking the look of a seductress that can bring any man to his knees. She had her hair in a ponytail; the length of her hair reached her ass. She had on a simple dress that gave a perfect outline of her curves but not too much. She looks like a seductress without even trying. She was absolutely gorgeous. As he studied her, a feeling sw
