Kaan’s POV.

But when I thought she couldn't get herself into more trouble, I saw her a few moments later, caged with barely anything on. I felt a surge of possessiveness and anger, one that I'd never felt in a long time.

My eyes narrowed, and my jaw clenched as I took in the sight of her, exposed and vulnerable. The urge to protect her, to claim her as my own, was overwhelming. I felt a growl rising up in my throat as I scanned the room, my gaze locking onto the men who were leering at her, bidding for her.

Our eyes locked. Her gaze pleaded for me to save her, but I didn't. Instead, I sat there, my eyes locked on hers as I struggled to reconcile the conflicting emotions warring within me.

Her plea for help hung in the air, a silent accusation that I was abandoning her to her fate. But I couldn't care less, or so I thought.

I was a man bound by my own rules, my own code of conduct. And yet, as I looked into her eyes, I felt a crack in my armor. Annoyed, I left the hall, feelin

Kaan’s POV. But she didn't continue, embarrassed. Instead, she went for my belt, slowly taking it off. If she could dig a hole to disappear, she would. Her fingers trembled. She was cute, bashful, and innocent, which added to her allure. I couldn't help but toy with her, to push her boundaries and see how she would react. Her trembling fingers and downcast eyes only made me more intrigued, more determined to see just how far I could push her. She fixed her gaze on my face as she pulled my trousers down. My eyes narrowed slightly. I found myself hating to see her look away from my body. I wanted her to do to me what she was fantasizing, yet I didn't want to touch her. It was a strange, conflicting desire, one that I couldn't quite explain. “What's your name?” I found myself asking. “Rena,” she replied. Rena… the name sounded musical, lyrical, and it suited her perfectly. There was something delicate, something fragile about the way the syllables rolled off her tongu

Kaan’s POV. Surprises… I hate surprises, and that was what they did. Soni and Rena surprised me. Another surprise awaited me when I entered her room. She kissed me. Her lips felt soft and warm, a gentle caress that sent a spark of electricity through my entire body. I felt a sudden jolt of surprise, my mind reeling as I struggled to process what was happening. No one touched me without my permission, no one kissed me without my consent. And yet, here she was, her lips pressed against mine, sending shivers down my spine. I was caught off guard, and for a moment, I didn't know how to react. My face darkened. I wasn't angry at her, in fact, I wanted more of it, and that irked me. “I…” she tried to speak, but her voice failed her. She looked scared. “Rena,” I breathed. The sound of my voice seemed to snap her out of her trance-like state, and she took a step back, and I followed, until she hit the wall. Her eyes widened with fear, probably thinking I would hurt her. My eyes lo

Rena’s POV. When he accepted my terms, I was happy, elated even. I leaned in to kiss him but he gripped my chin gently. The smile on his lips sent a chill down my spine, reminding me that this man wasn't a regular guy. He wasn't my playboy ex-boyfriend, Roland. "Not so fast, little kitten," he whispered, his breath dancing across my lips, making them quiver with excitement. "You're not going to get everything you want that easily.”My heart dropped, the excitement I felt evaporated. He's warning me, telling me how challenging it's going to get henceforth. But I wasn't going to give up. I pulled back and smiled, “I'm not afraid of challenges." A slow smile spread across his face, and he leaned in closer, his voice taking on a low, husky tone. "We'll see about that, little kitten,” he patted my head before walking out. I wanted to tell him I wasn't a child, but the words got stuck in my throat. I liked when he patted my head. I liked how he made me feel like a child. It was weirdly

Rena’s POV. I could see the murderous intent written all over her. She could beat the crap out of me, but I was ready for that. It would be of help to draw her father's sympathy. I nodded slowly, my eyes locked on hers, and a small, cruel smile played on my lips. "Yes. I did…” I paused, my heart was suddenly pounding faster and for a moment, I thought I might have gone too far. Soni's face slowly twisted in a snarl, her eyes blazing with unchecked fury. She took a step closer to me, her fists clenched at her sides, and I could see the muscles in her arms tensed and ready to strike. I swallowed hard, my heart racing with anticipation and dread, still, I didn't stop. "And I have to say, he was... quite satisfying.”Bang! The blow to my jaw was swift and merciless, sending me crashing to the floor the second time. I saw stars as my head spun, and for a moment, I couldn't catch my breath. Rena’s POV. My words tumbled out of me in a torrent of pain and anger. "I did them no wrong. They plotted against me. They fooled me, deceived me, used me, sold me, and killed my mom, the only family I have, and you tell me not to provoke your daughter?" I gripped the sheets tightly, trying hard to supress my disbelief and disappointment. “You rescued me. I thought you meant to protect me. You're supposed to be my protector, my guardian, but instead you're defending her, the person who tried to kill me. What about me? What about my feelings? Don't I deserve to be protected, to be loved?" I cried, my body shaking with sobs. The more I thought about it, the more unfair it was. His gaze didn't waver, his expression unreadable. His palm fell gently on my head, soothing my hair again. I tried to move away, but his palm pressed down on head. “Why did you tell her you slept with me?” He suddenly asked, but he wasn't angry. His voice was calm and surprisingly soothing. I clenched my teet

The food was delicious, and I couldn't help but let out a little sigh of pleasure after my last bite of the dessert. He watched me, a small smile still playing on his lips, and I felt my cheeks grow hot with embarrassment. Pulling me out of my seat, he said, “Come, you need some fresh air.”I stumbled slightly as he pulled me to my feet, but he quickly steadied me, his hand wrapping around my elbow. I felt a shiver run down my spine at his touch, and I couldn't help but wonder why he was being so gentle with me after the heated confrontation. I thought he'd be angry at me for being rude to him. He didn't look like someone who would take such disrespect. We walked to the balcony, the cool night air enveloping us as we stepped outside. Kaan’s POV. “I don't want you provoking her. She'll be your stepmother in the coming days. Respect her as you would me, Soni.” I had said to her and she flew into a fit of rage. I knew she would. But she had no choice but to accept the situation. She had done irredeemable damage to the woman I chose. Living with her and respecting her as her stepmother was already the least punishment for her, and I hoped Soni understood that. But apparently, she didn't. Soni defiled my orders after I left the estate. I was furious when I found out. Soni's disobedience was a slap in the face, a direct challenge to my authority, and the family was watching. And to make matters worse, she attempted to kill the woman I couldn't lay a finger on. As my daughter, Soni's allowed to act willfully, but the only line she must never cross, and had never crossed was to break any of the seven commandments binding the Ferrente family. The seven commandments were sacred rules, passed down through generations of

Kaan’s POV. Soni's eyes widened in alarm as she swiftly turned to face me, her shoulders squaring again as she stood up straight. She swallowed hard, "Y-yes, Father. I'm sorry. I was wrong to disobey you." The Ferrente family holds the rules sacred. Although I could choose to forgive her, after all, she's my daughter, but she needs to understand that there are consequences for going against me. "What...what is my punishment, Father?”“Read me the first commandments,” I ordered. “Obey, respect, protect the head at all costs, and have the family's best interest at heart…Failure to adhere to the commandment is punishable by dea–” her voice caught in her throat as she struggled to continue. Ever since, my dad had been distant, even ignoring me and giving my work to others. I was scared that things would never become as it was before Rena came into our lives. I was angry, bitter, and hated Rena even more, believing she was influencing my dad's decisions and wanting to take him away from me, like she promised. But then, I remembered that my dad wasn't one to be influenced, so I tried taking a step back. Perhaps, my dad would like me again if I patched things with Rena. But even when I took Rena on a dangerous ride, when we encountered those low-life assassins, my dad didn't come to see me. I felt hurt, desperate for his attention, and angry. That was when butler Marco approached me, wanting me to betray my dad. But how could I betray my own father, the man sat and watched my infant head, while I slept on my cradle bed? The man who had sleepless nights when pain and sickness made me cry? The man who had taken more bullets than I could count, just to provide a better

The doctor hesitated for a moment before responding, "She's AB negative, one of the rarest blood types." “I am AB negative,” I offered. Our Ferrente hospital had an abundance of AB negative blood types, but I couldn't take Rena to the estate hospital. Not when the enemies were rooted in our family, and wanted her dead. The doctor was related. However, his joy was cut short when he noticed that I had also lost a lot of blood from the cut on the side of my stomach. He turned to a nurse, “Make urgent calls to see if anyone in the hospital has the same–” I grabbed the doctor's arm, my eyes flashing with coldness, “I said take my blood. A hint of a smile played on Soni's lips as she said, “You played your part perfectly, Cousin. Thanks to you, we finally located their hideout.” Exhaustion and fear had rendered me speechless, but my mind was racing with a thousand unanswered questions. I wanted to know what Soni was talking about. Didn't she betray her father? How did she enter here, and my captors, what happened to them? What about Bianca and Luca? Too many questions, but my parched throat and weary brain couldn't seem to formulate the words.“Let's go home,” Soni said softly, wrapping a supportive arm around my waist, with one of my arms over her shoulder, as she guided me out of the dank, darkness of the dungeon. As we navigated the corridors, she moved with deadly precision, silently taking down the scattered guards who crossed our path, her movements a testament to her skill and training. As we emerged from the dungeon, I was stunned to see a cluster of familiar faces waiting for us. Pain. My mind registered an excruciating pain shooting through my entire body. An involuntary groan escaped my lips as I arched my back, my muscles tensing in response to the agony. Trying to open my eyes, the world around me blurred, fading into a dull haze as the pain consumed me. I felt like I was being torn apart from the inside out, my very cells screaming in protest. A faint, desperate thought echoed through my mind and my lips moved; “Make it stop...please, make it stop…” I mouthed, barely registering my own voice. “Boss, she's awake.” “She's finally awake? Why is she so slow? I've been waiting for hours. Help her hasten it." ‘Splash!’Cold, icy water hit me like a slap in the face, shocking me out of the haze. I gasped, my eyes flying open as I struggled against the chains binding me to the wall. The pain still lingered, but it was no longer the all-consuming force it had been moments before. I blinked rapidly, trying to clear the fog from my vision. A blurry figure st

Bianca's voice cut through the air, "Rena, you may leave now."I stared at her, bewildered. What did she mean? Was I being dismissed, cast aside like a used pawn, now that they'd gotten what they wanted?I narrowed my eyes, a spark of defiance igniting within me. "Why should I leave?" I retorted, my glare locked on Bianca's.But she held my gaze, her eyes flashing with a sharp, malicious glint, her expression a masterful blend of sweetness and venom. Oh, wow, she'd finally dropped the facade, I thought, a wry smile twisting my lips. Finally, the real Bianca had emerged from behind the mask of sweetness and innocence. "Don't force me to throw you out, Rena," Bianca's voice dripped with malice, her threat hanging over my head.My eyes flashed with anger as I turned to Luca, my gaze piercing. "So, I've been used?" I had reservations about this plan from the start. A nagging feeling told me something was off, but I wouldn't uncover the truth by staying behind. Still, nothing could have prepared me for the shock that awaited me at the coffee shop. As I entered the VIP area, I was met with a room full of familiar faces - Luca, Bianca, Butler Marco, and Alessia, all gathered in one place. But it was Soni's presence that caught me most off guard. She lounged in her chair, exuding an air of nonchalant superiority, her arm draped lazily over the backrest as she gazed at me with a smirk. My eyes widened in shock, threatening to pop out of their sockets. Didn't Demir assure me that Soni would never betray him? A pang of sorrow struck my heart as I thought of my husband's unwavering trust in his daughter. He had confided in her, relied on her, and yet… "Welcome, Rena, we've been waiting for you," he said, his tone implying that I was a long-overdue guest at a party I never wanted to attend.

The meeting with Professor Orhan had left me reeling in shock and wonder. The scarf, it turned out, held a secret map, intricately sewn along its edges rather than prominently displayed in the center. At Demir's request, the professor carefully transcribed the map onto a piece of paper, which was then handed to me. As for the pendant which I originally thought was a family heirloom, was cracked open to reveal a folded paper, yellow with age and adorned with intricate shorthand writing. Much to my surprise. The professor translated the message, which not only hinted at the betrayal from Bianca's family, but also at my Yaman family's good relations with Kaan of the Ferrente family. The box holding the pendant also held its own secrets. After the first skin was peeled off, it revealed a letter written in shorthand. It was a message for me. My father had told me to seek out Kaan of the Ferrente family, and give him the scarf and pendant, claiming Kaan knew what to do. Now it dawned

When we got to the villa, I hurried into my room to look at the shemagh. Luca said there was a map on it. I found the knitted scarf among my designer scarves in my walk-in-closet. It hung oddly, looking different and out of place. Taking it out, I held it up to take a proper look at it. All I saw was a black and blue knitting in the middle. There was no map or any other visible markings that looked like a direction. I turned it over, studying it carefully, but there was nothing. Just as I was about to give up, I heard footsteps. It must be Demir's. With that, I took the scarf along as I walked back into the bedroom. The moment I stepped into the room, our eyes locked and he strode over and yanked me into a fight hug. “I heard what happened at the mall,” he said. I was stunned, “So soon? Was it Soni?” Who else would tell him if not Soni? It hasn't been long since we were attacked.“This is my territory, Little one.” He pulled away, staring into my eyes, “Soni doesn't need to tell

My eyes widened in shock as I spun back around to face Soni, my mind racing with questions. But before I could ask any of them, Soni grabbed my arm and pulled me towards her car. Opening the door, she pushed me in and bent over, opening the compartments in haste, “Don't open the door unless I say so.” Her stern voice suddenly rang as she pulled out two silver guns. “Are we under an attack?” my mind was racing with worst-case scenarios as I slid into the passenger seat, my heart pounding in my chest. Scenes from what happened in Turkey clouded my mind and I subconsciously gripped Soni's elbow. “Let's run.”She halted her movement and locked eyes with me, the corner of her lips raising ever so slightly, “I don't know how to run.” With that, she snatched her elbow from me and checked the guns. Seeing they were loaded, she cracked them and straightened her back. “Don't open the door no matter what,” she repeated before running towards the fleet of cars packed in the garage. I watched i
