105. Ending It All Tonight

When his eyes opened again, the exhaustion floated out of the window. Lucas's heart was as light as a feather, and his lips pulled into a bigger smile.

Knowing that Heidi was right beside him, and all was perfect, every misunderstanding would be cleared. From now on, the same way every day, she'd wake up in his arms.

But the reality was far more brutal than the fantasy Lucas was reveling in. Light flooded through the opened window, blinding his vision.

The weight on his arm was gone, and beside him was a cold hard bed.

Sitting up, Lucas realized Heidi was gone, and his heart sank and sank until his face was masked with gloom.
