Chapter 2

last update Last Updated: 2021-06-21 15:31:19

Maya looked through the crowd that danced around them. Everyone was happy for them but none saw that there was no love lost between them. She admired the couple that laughed and talked joyfully behind her husband's back.

If anything, she would say that it was the happiest couple she had ever set her eyes on. They weren't bothered about what people would think about them. And the way the man whispered sweet nothings to the wife and watched her blush, she knew that, since she could see the woman's ears turn scarlet from her distance.

That was the kinda love she deserved. The one that she would be able to shout to the whole world. The one that even her parents didn't share because of her father. The one that only happened in fantasy only.

Was that too much to ask? She wanted more yet she got none. It wasn't fair at all but again the world itself wasn't fair. That's why you find one owns millions in bank while another lacks food to eat.

Love wasn't bed of roses and she knew it. The sooner she woke up from her dreams, the better. The better she will come up with an immune for her dear husband.

If he already began to hurt her in front of everyone and no one could see, how far can he go when they were alone? She couldn't help and wonder if he will still bring his girlfriend to the house.

What was she even thinking? The moment he pulled her for a dance, he smelt of a female cologne which wasn't hers. He didn't have it before he had excused himself.

He had seen her just few hours after their wedding, then what makes him stop there? It's not like she was hurt or anything but she didn't like the idea of breaking the vows. They were holy since they were said in the eyes of the Lord...

She wimped out of her thoughts when she felt him step on her foot purposely. He looked like the devil himself. He was on a mission and unlike the devil who is in a mission to find more followers who will burn in the pit of fire with him. Her new partner was in a mission to destroy her and her alone.

Maya focused her gaze at him wishing he had done that by accident but the look of satisfaction she got from him was enough to tell her she was correct.

Chris pulled her close to him with a fake smile on his face making sure that he drew blood from her waist. She hissed in pain but still kept a straight smile with her.

She knew he was enjoying to torture her in front of people because she can't complain. He was loving everything so far forgetting that she wasn't at fault also. It wasn't her wish to be married to him but her father had....

"May I borrow your wife for a while, son?" her father asked from behind her.

She felt Chris body stiffen for a while causing shiver to run down her spine. It was his fault that she was being hurt right now. It was his and she was going to suffer in silence.

"Of course, Mr. Freeman," Chris let go of her and walked passed them after excusing himself.

*****

The nerve of that old man calling me son. Son? I will never be his son.

Chris walked inside his mansion with his wife still in his hands. He couldn't let the servants who were waiting for him to see that they weren't getting along with his one and only innocent wife.

They all greeted him and his wife the moment they stepped inside the mansion. This was his territory. Where he would do whatever he pleases with her. She was going to suffer in silence and he was going to be the source of her pain.

He would enjoy every time he would see her break. That was his mission. To break her to the point she would never be brought back even if anyone tried to help.

He walked passed his servants nodding to their greetings and moved on the left wing. That's where his bed room was and he really needed rest after the never ending day.

The worst day of his life. The moment they were out of the view, he let go of her hand and walked ahead of her. He couldn't shake off the thought of what she talked about with her father.

Did they come up with the new move to make on him? Did he tell her what she needed to do to him to destroy him farther? He wanted to know everything. It won't be fair if they bit him again in this game of chess. It was his turn to make a move.

Chris opened the two door that led him to his bedroom at the end of the hallway and stood to wait for her highness. Did she think he had all night to wait for her grand entrance?

When she came to a stop where he stood, he didn't expect her to ask what she asked him.

"Can you show me my room so I can rest, please," her voice was shaking with fear and he was proud that she feared him. The better because she had so much to be thrown on her way.

Chris laughed at her statement, "aren't we acting too innocent here?" he asked his hand curling into a fist, "when you know very well how to trap a man in marriage."

He saw her lower her head, "I didn't mean any harm by asking," her voice lowered, "I'm truly sorry."

His teeth were about to draw blood out of inner lip, "what are you really sorry for Miss Freeman?" He wasn't about to address her by his name. Never.

"The fact that you want to humiliate me in front of my servants when they see you coming out of a different room, " he looked at her, "or the fact that you humiliated me in front of the whole world by making me marry an ugly woman like you?"

She kept quiet and he neither wanted to hear her voice. It was the worst he had ever heard and he would ever hear again. Just like they say, an apple never falls away from the tree. She was the copy of her father. Cunning, but not to worry. He was going to trim her little by little.

Chris walked away leaving her at his bedroom door wishing that she could never step inside but he had no choice. No choice but to let her in there. He needed a drink since the ones he had taken at the party seemed not to work.

He walked on the bar room and took a bottle of whiskey pouring himself a glass. He didn't know how long he stayed there to strategies his revenge and nether did he know how many glasses he took before returning to his room.

When he walked in, there she was on his leather couch sleeping. Whoever gave her the permission he didn't care and he had to get her dirty body out of his couch.

He moved to her and pushed her legs out of it, "get up you daughter of Jezebel," he saw her wimp in pain then he pushed the rest of her body down, "you sleep on the floor. Do you understand it?"

She looked up at him with teary eyes, "yes Mr. Rollins," she answered pulling herself towards the carpet.

Of course, he noticed that, "not on my carpet, pest," he pointed towards the bathroom, "on the cold floor. Lemme not get you anywhere near my things. Okay?"

She got up from the carpet, "yes sir."

He watched her lying done on the cold floor and smiled at his satisfaction, "that's more like it, Jezebel. Now, good night."

She didn't reply and neither did he care.

Let the game begin. He said to himself as he moved to the bathroom.
