Tapping the numbers on the keypad, the lock to the shop door clicked and beeped before the light turned green and allowed me to open it. I shouldered my duffle bag and pushed the heavy door open. Inside was like a dream. The exact dream Emmett and I pictured.
Everything was shiny and new, the floor was the non-slip acrylic floor with the sprinkle of traction. Instead of the usual black and while flecks though, they were gold and blue. A deep midnight blue and an old worn gold color. The colors were littered around the shop in the tool chests, the car lifts, even the pictures on the wall. Everything we had picked as we scrolled through thousands of options. Seeing it all together, physically, was both thrilling and painful. It was supposed to be Emmett and I. It wasn’t supposed to be a fly by night rush but a road trip of epic proportions. A ribbon to be cut and party thrown. Not coming into a dark shop, silence engulfing the space, and reminding me that I was completely
Flopping down on the bed, I’d ordered an Alaskan King, the largest bed possible. A whole 108” by 108” of memory foam that boasted the best cooling air flow to cool even the hottest werewolf down. Or so the representative I spoke to advised. It was nice, softer than anything I’d slept on in my entire life. Luxurious couldn’t even begin to describe how I felt in this room. It was like a dream. A dream that if I woke up from, I’m not sure I could take the pain of it all.‘You’re not dreaming. You’ll need to get used to it. Fill out the closet and buy good clothes. Spoil yourself a little with the money you saved up. You deserve it, Sky. After all you’ve been through, this is but a fraction of what you deserve.’Raine stated it so matter of factly but it was easy for her to say. Less easy for me to believe. I curled up on my side and closed my eyes. The world started to spin, and after a few choked
My eyes flung open and I pulled my knees up, burying my head in them. I’d felt that presence before. An unknown just at the edge of my dreams. The same one each time but now I was able to see him. I was able to feel him for the first time. Then the look on his face when I rejected him.‘I don’t know what you were expecting, Sky. The Moon Goddess chooses our fated. There is a reason for that.’ Raine wasn’t judging. She would sometimes sound more like she was a mother and this was another one of those times.‘Oh? And Justin was just a fling? For you and for me? This new person is actually out mate?’ I felt my heart squeeze, the thought of Justin. His own look of madness as he tried to stop me from leaving. Raine was quiet though.‘Raine?’‘I believe they are both our mates, Sky. I have the same feelings coming from both of them. As though both of them are tied to us.&
“Alright, that should be it. Just confirm all the information and you will be all set.”I looked over the information on the page and nodded. He smiled and typed a few things on his computer. Handing me my card back, I shoved it in my wallet. Printing out a few pages, he stapled them together and handed them to me.“I’m glad I was able to help you out. We can’t always match the drummer with their set. I’m glad we had the option of grabbing the one you’re more comfortable with.”“Th-Thank you. Seriously.”Nodding, he motioned over to the other kits on the floor. “If you want, you can those out. The one set up in the sound booth right now is DW Collectors Edition. It’s about six grand. Sometimes it’s fun to play on an expensive instrument.”I smirked and nodded. He came around the counter again and opened up the door to the sound proof room they had in the corner of t
I sat at the kitchen counter with the tablet, laptop and phone spread out on the kitchen counter. It had taken hours this morning to get everything set up. I’d decided I was just going to organize my closet yesterday and cook dinner before working out in the downstairs gym before heading to bed. There was just too much stimulation yesterday and I needed to have an outlet for it.Today though, I was going to learn and set up all my devices. I thought it would take me an hour at most but apparently, the phone and computers I were used to working on were last century compared to the ones I got. It was a completely learning curve. My email and music were now on all three devices but then it was getting everything else together that was a pain. I wanted some of the business things that Em had set up on the laptop but that was apparently crazy to try and do.Sitting up and stretched, I sighed. Moving back over to my new phone, I had inputed all the phone numbers I knew
We were driving back and the sun was going down. I had done a little shopping, grabbing a bomber jacket and a couple other single items of clothing to continue filling out my closet. It had been another really good day. Pulling into the garage, there was an 1961 Starfire Oldsmobile parked in the lot. I covered my heart as I turned off Thing and got out.“Hey, do you know the owner of this place? I’m looking to see if they have a part for my car.”I smiled. “Y-your looking at her.”“You?”I nodded. “W-what you looking for?”“I just…was having some issue with a rattling noise when at idle.”Looking over the car, the guy had taken excellent care of her over the years. Even the convertible top looked new.“D-did you check the harmonic balancer? Sometimes they separated. The rubber between the ring and the pulley has dried out.”“I…didn
The moment I opened my eyes, I knew exactly where I was. I was tied to the dungeon wall because the chains were too big for my wrists. The memory was haunting and I frowned as I looked around. A little five year old Emmett tottered into my cell, holding a piece of bread and a cup of water that had mostly splashed out on the way here. He had come every day, bringing me things and he even tried to read me a story. Really, he was just making up his own based on the pictures, but I thought he learned how to read and was mesmerized. I’d taken the fall for knocking a vase over in the living room. Apparently, it was one of Francesca’s family heirlooms or something. She pitched a fit and so this was the punishment. Multiple days in the dungeon, hanging by my wrists, with what was supposed to be no food or water. It wasn’t painful now. Now, it made look back wistfully. Emmett had always taken care of me. I did what I could for him but it always felt so inadequate compared to what he did for m
I sat up in bed, my hand outstretched to take one that wasn’t in front of me. Looking around, I tried to orient myself back into my room and not the dungeon I’d been sitting in. The bell rang again and I threw the blankets off before heading into the kitchen. Grabbing the master tablet, I pulled up the front door camera. Luna Katerina was standing under the awning, completely soaked as it was pouring outside. I flipped up on the microphone. “Give me just a moment to come down.” She looked around the door but just nodded as she couldn’t find the location of the mic or camera. I set the tablet down on the counter and grabbed my slippers. Racing down the stairs, my slippers nearly caused me to slip twice, but I pulled open three front door and moved so she could come in. “I…um…I’m s-sorry. I w-w-was asleep.” She smiled at me. “Don’t worry about it. I came unannounced at the crack of dawn. It’s my fault. I should be saying sorry to you.” I
I smiled and nodded, plopping down on the seat. “C-can you tell me a-about yourself?”Luna Katerina went back to the fridge and pulled out fruit, bacon, milk, and a couple other ingredients I didn’t see.“What’s there to tell really? After I was swept away from Silver Mountain, I stayed at Red River in a house to myself for two years.”“Not with Alpha Alan?”She shot me a wry smile. “Not at first. He’d only managed to function without a Luna and he had his son. We dated and slowly he introduced me to his son until I was just a staple in the house.”I nodded. “That’s s-sweet.”Chuckling, she pulled out a pan and turned on the stove. It was weird watching someone else in the kitchen. Not that I’d gotten used to myself being in this kitchen. It had been about a week. Everything still felt new and weird. Somehow, Luna Katerina made it feel like a real home.
