Four
MORGAN'S POV: "Okay Cole quit running around! You may hurt yourself." I yelled. "Oh do leave the boy child alone." My dad said. "He took just after his grandfather." He said laughing as Cole fell, got up and continued running around with his pet dog. "Who even had the idea of getting him a pet dog dad?" I asked my father as I watched my son chasing and falling and all over again, his laughter of milk and honey. "Let him be princess." My dad said to me noticing my worry. "He is just a child of four. Let him enjoy his childhood." He was right. Children should enjoy their childhood. "But just make sure that he doesn't get hurt." I said to my dad. "Can't you count on your father, the famous Mr Rosewood?" He asked smiling at me. "Who am I not to trust you." I said giggling, kissing him on the forehead. "Now I have to go find the other half." I said to my dad leaving the garden. "See what she's up to." "No worries." He replied. "This young Rosewood, is in the good hands of the old Rosewood." This got the both of us laughing. "Okay, okay." I said raising my hands up in surrender. "He is in good hands." I smiled and left the garden. My father had always had a weird sense of humour. He totally saw himself in Cole. Infact, when he held him in his hands after I had put to bed, he called him Theodore Stefan Rosewood the second, believing he was his look alike. Cole looked every inch like his father, who I had banished to the back of my mind. The only thing he took from my were my eyes. I checked in Miranda's room but couldn't find her. She was asleep the last time I checked on her. Had she woken up and strolled off? I sighed. How would a child of four wake up from sleep and stroll out of her room? I didn't remember having such audacity when I was four. Times really change. "Miranda?" I called as I moved from room to room looking for her. As I moved through the hallways, every servant and maid I met bowed. She wasn't in the play room, neither was she in my room. "Miranda?" I kept calling her still looking in the rooms to see if she might have stroller into any of them. As I passed the dinning room, I thought I saw a form that looked like her so I walked back. And there she was clinging unto the keg if Mr Vontrap as he dishes out orders to the butlers-in-the-making and to some of the servants. There in all her innocence, was her father. Every day, I forced myself to forget him but each time I looked at Miranda, the memories come flooding back. The good times we spent together, our honeymoon, when we cooked together, ate together danced to our favourite music, our wedding. But all these memories always ended just as the reality ended. I had succeeded in keeping him from my memories. I had forgotten about him. And I felt free. I walked into the inning room to where she held onto Mr Vontrap's leg. Everyone stopped what they were doing and bowed to me. "Mummy!!!" She squealed running towards me. "Where have you been snowball? You had me worried." I said taking her in my arms. "She woke up and walked out of the room just as I was passing by." Mr Vontrap said to me. "She has been with me the entire time." He concluded. "Thank you." I said. "Don't be worried about me mummy, I was safe with Uncle Vontwap." She said mispronouncing his name. She looked at him and smiled. "He is my nwait in shining armor." She said giving Mr Vontrap a thumbs up with her little thumb. "I see." I said amused at the way she called knight. "He sure is your nwait in shining armor snowball." I said to her. "And aren't you a fast talker for a child of four?" I asked l rubbing my forehead with hers. "When mummy was this age, I couldn't even say my name." I said laughing. "I know my name." She said to me. "And what is it?" I asked. "My name is Miwanda Yosewood." This made me tumble over in laughter. She was a fast learner and I loved that. "Do you wanna go see grandpa?" I asked her. "Well... No." She said toying with her fingers. "Why snowball?" I asked her. "Because Uncle Vontwap will miss me." She said looking at Mr Vontrap. "But gwandpa also misses me so I'll have to go see him." She said looking at me. Said the resemblance she bore to Dante, this was the manifestation of my four year old self. "I'll see you later Uncle Vontwap." She said to Mr Vontrap waving at him as we left the dinning room. He waved back at her smiling. "Let's go." I said still carrying her in my arms. "Where is gwandpa?" She asked me. "He is in the garden with your brother." "Okay." Was all she said till we got to the garden. "Look who is here!" My dad exclaimed as soon as Miranda and I walked to the garden. "Gwandpa!" She said running to him. Cole had stopped causing his dog around as they now laid on the grass looking up at the clear skies as if they had a treasure in it. "How are you beautiful?" He asked her. "As stunning as ever." She said flipping her hair. "Where did you learn to speak like that?" I asked surprised at her diction. "The women in uniforms." She said to me. The maids. She then left my dad and went to where Cole laid with his dog and whispered something to him. Cole looked at her eyes filled with surprise, and together, they got up and began chasing each other while I sat down on the seat with my dad. "The Loveson family have invited us for their fundraiser next week.?" I said to him. "Will you honour it?." He asked me. "Of course I would." I replied looking at him. "It's the Lovesons." I said to him looking at the sky. "What?" I asked my dad when I noticed that he was still looking at me. "Look at you bringing the family into seven times more profit than we have ever had." He said laughing. "The latter generation sure is greater than the former." I said to him laughing too. "I knew you would be such a great leader." He said to me. "It has always been in your blood right from when you were a child." I knew where he was going. "Not down memory lane dad." I said turning my attention towards him. "Come on Morgan." He said chuckling. "You dominated where ever you stepped in. It was always as if you became the boss wherever you entered." "Okay that's enough." I said laughing going to join the kids in their world. *** The fund raiser was abuzz with life. My dad and I had met the Lovesons. So I was alone roaming the fund raiser ground while Cole and Miranda were with my dad. "Morgan?" I heard my name behind me, I turned... Dante! Then the memories came flooding back.Morgan's pov:I grabbed my champagne flute a bit too hard, the brief fear of breaking it flashing through my mind. It should be impossible, right? Breaking the glass with my bare hands. But with the emotions running through me right now, I had no doubts that if I pressed hard enough I would break the glass.Dante. Dante is here. I hadn't expected him to show up, heck I hadn't expected to see anyone I knew here! The Lovesons were a secretive lot, very few people were invited to parties they attended to.And yet Dante is here. He's looking right at me, those eyes that I can't shake off my mind no matter how hard I try. Those eyes that often gazed at me with a soft look that brought tears into my eyes. Only for me to find out that it was all fake. He had another woman in his mind as he stared at me. I grit my teeth hard, raising a door against the memories. This isn't the time. This isn't the time to be going down memory lane. He cast me out. He treated me like trash.Morgan, don't eve
Morgan's pov:"Babe, you certainly took your time getting here." I said, flashing the man a brilliant smile. With my eyes I pleaded for him to understand the situation."Babe?" Dante asked behind me. I didn't dare glace at him. I didn't date take my eyes off this handsome stranger in front of me with the champagne spill on his shirt. I didn't dare break eye contact. Nova scoffed. I ignored her.Blue eyes stared into mine, an unreadable look in them. His eyes moved down to my hand placed daintily on his chest, and back to my face.Please. Please play along. "I'm so sorry my love," The man said, bending down to my cheek. "I had a little emergency at home, I didn't intend to come late." He raised his head back up, a smile on his face bright enough to light up a small town."Did the dogs act up again?" I asked, shaking my head with a chuckle. Outside I look calm, but inside I'm screaming with joy. Relief washes over my like a tidal wave. He caught the hint! "What can I say? Molly miss
7:Morgan'sPOV:I drove as fast as I could, away from the fundraiser, exceeding the speed limit. To believe that of all the people in the world that I could bump into, Dante with that stupid bitch Nova! And ruin my perfect life!Don't don't, please don't! I pleaded with my tears. They were so close to breeching my lash line. The tears were stubborn, ignoring my pleas. With the back of my palm, I wiped them away from my face, trying to focus on the road before me, overtaking cars like a drunken driver would. I had tried all that I could to put the past behind me and create a new life for myself, for Cole and Miranda. I had moved on...or so I told myself to believe. And before I knew it, there was Dante, just there.I almost ran into the policeman waving a Barton in front for me to allow down. The force I applied on the brakes, if applied on a speed faster than the one I was on, would have landed me in the hospital with immediate surgery for a heart surgery.I quickly wiped the tears f
Morgan's POVThe tea party was on the rooftop room of the Loveson's Mansion. The room wasn't particularly a room but looked more like a luxurious apartment of its own. It had been well lit with golden lights on its inner walls at strategic places, to give the place an ethereal look. There were flowers in their beds, close to the lights, she raised a veil over the apartment to give room for the golden lights to illuminate in their full glory. I caught myself smiling within. She should have just made it a night party if she was looking for such an effect. And in the center of the main room, there was a table for ten. I recalled being here last year, for Mia's birthday, where she had almost fallen off the roof due to her drunken state. Typical Mia.But today was much more different. Maybe because it was morning or maybe because it was just a tea party for the ladies. But I was wrong. There, among eight of the women at the table was that bitch."You look gorgeous." A husky female voice
Morgan's POVI instantly got up, the pain driving me insane. She had poured hot tea on my boobs. "What is wrong with you?!" Thelma shrieked running over to me with a little towel in her hands. Control yourself, control yourself Morgan. I took in a deep breath, the pain eating at my chest."Here." She said, handing me the towel."Thank you." I took the towel from her and wiped the remnant of the liquid off my chest but it was too late for the dress, it had already been ruined."Thank you so much Nova Bloom." Mia said. "For ruining my party. But also know that this would be the last party of mine, that you get to attend."I dropped the towel on the table, picked up my bag, turned and left the party.Holding everything in, I carefully drove home, like a good citizen would, reminding myself of the warning I had received the last time I had over sped, till I got home.I got in the bath, my chest red due to the hot tea. I couldn't cry, or rather, I shouldn't cry. First, at the fundraiser,
Morgan's POVMy phone kept beeping. I groaned in anger at whoever deemed it fit to wreck my sleep. Who the heck was disturbing me so damn early in the morning? I moved my hand, looking for my phone that wouldn't stop beeping. As I moved my hands, I hit the phone and knocked it down to the floor."Great." I mumbled. "Just great."The stupid nonsense was still an annoying little sleep wrecker, buzzing every now and then. Then it began to ring. What the hell?!? I got up out of frustration after the final ring and picked the phone up from the floor, eager to see who it was.An unknown number. Texts, also from the same unknown number. I opened it. The first read 'good morning, how was your night?'. I opened the next, 'How have you been?'. I scoffed. What trick did Dante exactly think that he could play on me? That he could appear all of a sudden and walk back into my life the way he walked me out? He had to be kidding.Without a second thought, I blocked the number. If he wanted to see h
Morgan's POV"You know if this persists, you will have to go see a doctor.""Are you sick mummy?""No, I'm not!" I was saying for the umpteenth time. "I'm not sick Cole, okay?" I eyed my father. "Now off you go with Molly. Come on."After he had gone out of earshot, I turned to my father. "What?!""Just because I told you how I've been feeling lately, doesn't mean that you have to talk about it," I said out of frustration. "You are making the kids start to think that I'm sick.""You are.""I am not, I'm just tired.""And how sure are you about that Morgan? What are you? A doctor?"I rolled my eyes picking up my bag to head for the office. "I'm fine dad, I'll be fine. Trust me."He made as if to say something, but decided against it. "Fine, I'll take your word for it." I smiled, kissed his cheek, and headed out for the office. The work I had been doing throughout the week was what was normally a month's work and today was to be the completion of it all. I hadn't been able to get up to
Morgan's POVWe stared at each other for seconds, wild thoughts running through my head. The man I had been avoiding, the one I had used at the fundraiser was Winston Valentine, a doctor. What in the history of coincidences is this? My heart started to race in my chest. Why?! Why?! I had done a very good job at avoiding him so far! And now he's my doctor? Finally, he cleared his throat, making us break eye contact. I looked down at my hands, speechless. I couldn't help but feel slightly embarrassed. "So...you are Miss Morgan Rosewood." He said with emphasis on the Rosewood."Yes, I am." I said quietly. Thank goodness he didn't start off with something from the fundraiser. Was he acting like we never met or was he in his doctor self or did he not remember me? I think I would go with either he first or the second."So let's hear the reason you are here."I raised my head and stared at him. "I've been feeling weak, tired and dizzy. Sometimes, my stomach seems to be in pain and then toda
Dante's POVI watched as Morgan walked out of the station without sparing neither Winston nor I a glance. Something was up with her. Something she didn't feel comfortable telling me. Or maybe something she didn't want to tell anybody. "Seems like she's pissed at you." I said to Winston as he appeared beside me after Morgan had left. He didn't reply but just stared at the taxi she boarded. "Why do I feel like she has seen through your fake life and the mask of lies you've been putting on.""Believe what you want to." He said before turning to leave. He stopped turning to face me. "I saw the both of you talking before I came, did she perhaps..." He paused. "Perhaps tell me where she was going?" I finished the sentence for him. "Yes. Did she?""And why do you care." He turned to face me. "Do you really want to do this right now man? We don't even know what she's going through right now. She won't say, we won't speak to me about it and you want to fight me when things are as messed up
Sabrina's POV"Open the freaking door Rina!!" My mum yelled from outside repeatedly banging on my door. I couldn't bring myself to look her in the eye, to see her, talk to her. "Sabrina!""Go away mum." I said rubbing my hands on my face. The thudding stopped before she hit the spot one final time before it all went silent. I stared at my hands in front of me as they shook. My breathing was uneven, as my chest rose and fell. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow. She has denied killing dad, but was it true? Did she tell me a lie or was she telling the truth? I couldn't tell. Not only had she turned the study upside down, but she had also turned the entire house upside down, searching for daddy's will. I was fifty percent sure that she didn't just want to come into my room and scold me. Who knows, if I had let her in, she wouldn't have turned my room including my private set up upside down in search of the will of the man she claimed to love. If she did love him, why then wasn't she mour
Morgan's POVMy head exploded with a headache. That was the first thing I noticed. I groaned deeply and opened my eyes. It was dark in the room, and I was alone. I sat up from the bed, my heart beating frantically in my chest. I passed out....or rather he drugged me. I threw the covers off my body. He had tucked me in, lie I was a kid or something. I felt sick to my stomach, a deep sense of betrayal lodged into my belly. Scrambling for my phone, I almost screamed when I saw the time. I had been out for seven hours. My blood ran cold. With shaky hands, I scrolled until I got to Sabrina's number. "Hey." I called keeping the tremor away from my voice. "Morgan." She sounded tired so I went straight to the point."I'm coming home." I said to her. "What?""Immediately. I'm coming home now Rina.""No you can't!" She said her voice a bit risen. "I'm sorry for shouting but Morgan you can't come home. Not now.""Why?" Silence. "Rina what's wrong?""You just can't okay. Not now..." She pa
Morgan's POVI rinsed my face and mouth and returned to my room.I felt exhausted. Like a ton of weights were tied to my legs and dragged me down to the ground. I slumped over the bed, my body trembling from all that had just happened. Winston. He's acting strange. And it's funny to me because he's the one that I trust. He's always been there for me. He's never pushed me, not once. But today... touched my neck and sighed. I have no idea what got into him. He can't have been drugging me. He wouldn't. There was no way someone like that would have been drugging me. He said he'd never do anything to hurt me. He'll always be with me through thick and thin. That loving me was the best thing that had happened to me in his entire life. A man that loves me even though I had kids for another man. Even though I had nothing in my name. The perfect man... Who I had thought too perfect to be truly perfect. Was it all a fake?. He's a doctor and things like that are prone to be found in his ho
Morgan's POV:An hour later, I was calm enough to leave my room. Dante was still sticking around. He paced the floors of the hall and paused when we stepped out. "Where's Sabrina?" I asked.."She left. Something urgent came up." "Aren't you leaving?" I asked him noting that day was beginning to break. The only person I wanted to be around with was Winston and no one else. "If you have nothing else to do, leave.""I just want to know if you're alright.""I'm fine. As you can see." Came my reply. "Morgan,""She said she's fine. Why is it so hard for you to simply understand?" Winston snapped at him."I wasn't talking to you man." Dante replied. "In fine. You can leave now." "I'll be back." He said as he turned to leave. Once he was gone, I exhaled a breath of relief."Are you alright?" Winston held my arm and turned me to face him. "I should be asking you." I said to him touching his face where Dante has punched him . "I'm sorry for this.""It's fine. It can heal and go away. But
Sabrina's POV "I don't trust him." Dante said once we were outside leaving. Just as if he had been reading my mind and was able to say what I was about to. I nodded at him. "Me too." I exhaled. "I don't trust him." He seems off but I knew Morgan couldn't see it–couldn't sense it. She saw him as the boat that sailed her from the turbulent sea to safety and I didn't want to take that from her. But what if Winston were to cause her more harm than the turbulent sea? "She'd sick." Dante said. "She looks sick like..." He exhaled. "Something is wrong with her. She's not okay. We need to do something." "Like what?" I met his gaze. "Why should we do? Morgan is not one to back off because of talks. We need evidence of these things we suspect. True evidence." My phone began to buzz. "Mum?" "Come home right now!" Her voice was fidgety, shaking to the core. "What's wrong?" I asked getting on my feet. "Immediately Rina. There's trouble." Hanging up, I turned to Dante. "There se
Morgan's POV:"You're up." I looked to my right to find Sabrina seated there. She looked exhausted to say the least. "I guess so." I said. "Don't worry. The door's locked. None of them will disturb you."None of who? Uh, right. Winston and Dante. "Is Winston okay?" I asked. Sabrina tilted her head to the side looking at me from head to toe. When she didn't reply, I slowly shook my head, demanding an explanation. "Is anything wrong?..." But I had barely finished the sentence when the news came crashing in me like a boulder. The screech I heard in my ears that was my own voice screaming without realizing it. "Morgan..." In that voice, I could hear the struggle to keep it cool, to keep it together... To play the big sister. "Morgan?!" I but down on my trembling lip trying to swallow. Impossible with the sobs taking inside of me so I just let it all out, wailing my eyes out. The void was too hollow. So deep and empty that I could call out and hear my voice bounce off the walls of
Dante's POV"Get your hands away from her." I hissed at Winston, hitting his hands off. He exhaled with a scoff before fully facing me."What's your problem?" He spat in disgust and anger. I didn't care in the least bit. I am not scared of him neither was I ever. "Like hell you don't know." I spat back, coming to stand in between him and Morgan. "You would not lay a finger on her. Not while I'm here." He raised a brow at me, stepping back a little before smiling like a maniac. Just as the smile appeared, it disappears as he stepped forward, covering the steps that he had taken back. "You won't let me lay a finger on her..." He repeated cocking his head like a complete nut job. What the hell was this guy? "Why? You think I'm poison for her? Bad luck?" I walked up to him, our faces barely an inch away from each other. "Mmm. You're bad luck. You're poison for her.""Proof?" He asked with a cocky grin before his eyes widened as he shrugged, putting his hands in his pocket. "The only ba
Morgan's POV"What the fuck?!" Winston yelled, anger swirling in his eyes, but he didn't move away from me just like at the doctor's dinner party when that girl had caught us kissing on the rooftop. But Dante didn't even let him speak anymore. Before I could breath or even utter a word, Dante had pulled Winston away from me and began punching him in the face. "Shit Dante?!?" I yelled in panic, jumping down from the table. But that didn't stop him from punching Winston. Winston on the bed the hand just laid there watching Dante mercilessly hit him. God I came let things happen. "Get off him Dante! Stop this madness! Dante! ..."Shit shit shit! How much more would this man embarrass me?! I swore I heard a crack as his fist collided with Winston's jaw. Looking around trying to find something, anything that would get him off Winston. Looking around,I spotted a mop stick I hadn't seen tucked away in a corner. Picking it up, I smacked it into the back of Dante's head, masking him pause
