Morgan's POV
The tea party was on the rooftop room of the Loveson's Mansion. The room wasn't particularly a room but looked more like a luxurious apartment of its own. It had been well lit with golden lights on its inner walls at strategic places, to give the place an ethereal look. There were flowers in their beds, close to the lights, she raised a veil over the apartment to give room for the golden lights to illuminate in their full glory. I caught myself smiling within. She should have just made it a night party if she was looking for such an effect. And in the center of the main room, there was a table for ten. I recalled being here last year, for Mia's birthday, where she had almost fallen off the roof due to her drunken state. Typical Mia. But today was much more different. Maybe because it was morning or maybe because it was just a tea party for the ladies. But I was wrong. There, among eight of the women at the table was that bitch. "You look gorgeous." A husky female voice snapped me out of my annoyance. "Thank you, Mia." I turned to her. "And so do you." She was wearing a simple long-sleeved green flowery gown that stopped at her knees and a matching pair of green shoes while I was wearing a similar outfit, except it was white. "Thank you." She smiled with a little courtesy. "Let's get you to the table shall we?" She hooked my arm with hers and walked me to the table, taking her seat. I took a deep breath and walked to the only available seat, which happened to be beside the last person I wanted to sit with. Mia with a wide smile, stood to welcome all the ladies at the table. "I welcome all of you respectable ladies of London and thank you for honoring my invitation. I want to especially thank one of us who happens to always be a bee..." This caused giggles to ripple through the table, and I immediately knew that she was talking about me. "But amazingly," she continued. "She's here with us. Let's give it up for the CEO of Rosewood Enterprise, Morgan Rosewood. " A round of applause thunders around the table, even from the person beside me that I had been ignoring all this while. I was inwardly glad that she had decided to keep her mouth shut and not speak to me. Just as Mia was through with her speech, maids began to troupe in with tea cakes, cookies, snacks, and all kinds of tea. "You never told me that you had become the CEO of Rosewood Enterprise." "I didn't?" I asked with sarcastic surprise in my voice. "Oops." "You sure are funny." I shrugged, taking a bite of the piece of cake I had been served. "You taught me well." "I sure did. So tell me..." "So Morgan," Mia called cutting Nova short. "After all these years, how's life as a CEO treating you? " "I'm sure it's treating her terribly," Nova said before I could even get an alphabet out of my mouth. "I'm sorry what?" Mia asked tilting her head in curiosity. "Let's not talk about boring stuff like work here Mia, let's discuss something else. You know, like our love life." There were murmurs of 'yes' around the table. "Sure," Mia responded with a bright smile on her face. These were the things that made her super happy. "Let stuff get juicy!!" Thelma Ducalion opened the floor for the relationship statuses, and one by one, the ladies spoke about their love lives till it got to Nova. "I have a boyfriend and he is like the sweetest one ever, and we are planning on getting married soon." The last part of the sentence caught me of guard as I almost spat the tea in my mouth out. Nova looked at me with a wicked grin. Dante and Nova? Getting married? I shouldn't have come for this party, if only I had known. "So over to you Morgan." Nova said. "Nothing, there's no man in my life." I said shrugging. "Oh don't go lying Morgan, I know that's not true." She said touching my shoulder. "Is he better that the old one or was the old one better?" "She said that she has no man in her life Nova, so cut it." Mia snapped. "Relax Mia, I've known Morgan longer than any of you here. So tell me, is he nice to you? Are you guys getting married?" Dear Lord! If only I could stab the knife into her eye and walk out scott-free, I would have done it the moment she had begun to show her true colours. I looked at her, all traces of my smile, gone! "What's your while point about all this?" "My whole point?" She asked toying with the remaining piece of cake in her plate. "I was just wondering if he was going to stay or leave just like the other one." "Okay, that's enough!" Mia commanded, banging the table. "Stop right there Nova." "Why?" She asked with a sly smirk on her face. "It's the truth. Isn't it Morgan? Aren't you going to tell them? Come on Morgan, don't make me look like the bad person here." "You should leave my party." Mia said to Nova in a serious tone while I looked at the fork in my hands, the same wicked idea roaming in my mind. The other ladies were looking at Nova with a look of annoyance. "So tell me Morgan," Nova continued, behaving as if Mia's had said utterly nothing. "Are you going to try any keep him this time?" "I'm done here!" Veronica, one of the ladies said getting up. "Let's go Vanya, I can't stand this nonsense anymore." She spat looking at Nova then at Mia before walking out with Vanya. "Are you?" Nova repeated. I scoffed and tutted twice before looking up at her. "At least I don't steal him." I said to her with a smile. All the excitement and joy that her face held, disappeared in a flash and the next thing I felt was extreme heat on my boobs.Morgan's POVI instantly got up, the pain driving me insane. She had poured hot tea on my boobs. "What is wrong with you?!" Thelma shrieked running over to me with a little towel in her hands. Control yourself, control yourself Morgan. I took in a deep breath, the pain eating at my chest."Here." She said, handing me the towel."Thank you." I took the towel from her and wiped the remnant of the liquid off my chest but it was too late for the dress, it had already been ruined."Thank you so much Nova Bloom." Mia said. "For ruining my party. But also know that this would be the last party of mine, that you get to attend."I dropped the towel on the table, picked up my bag, turned and left the party.Holding everything in, I carefully drove home, like a good citizen would, reminding myself of the warning I had received the last time I had over sped, till I got home.I got in the bath, my chest red due to the hot tea. I couldn't cry, or rather, I shouldn't cry. First, at the fundraiser,
Morgan's POVMy phone kept beeping. I groaned in anger at whoever deemed it fit to wreck my sleep. Who the heck was disturbing me so damn early in the morning? I moved my hand, looking for my phone that wouldn't stop beeping. As I moved my hands, I hit the phone and knocked it down to the floor."Great." I mumbled. "Just great."The stupid nonsense was still an annoying little sleep wrecker, buzzing every now and then. Then it began to ring. What the hell?!? I got up out of frustration after the final ring and picked the phone up from the floor, eager to see who it was.An unknown number. Texts, also from the same unknown number. I opened it. The first read 'good morning, how was your night?'. I opened the next, 'How have you been?'. I scoffed. What trick did Dante exactly think that he could play on me? That he could appear all of a sudden and walk back into my life the way he walked me out? He had to be kidding.Without a second thought, I blocked the number. If he wanted to see h
Morgan's POV"You know if this persists, you will have to go see a doctor.""Are you sick mummy?""No, I'm not!" I was saying for the umpteenth time. "I'm not sick Cole, okay?" I eyed my father. "Now off you go with Molly. Come on."After he had gone out of earshot, I turned to my father. "What?!""Just because I told you how I've been feeling lately, doesn't mean that you have to talk about it," I said out of frustration. "You are making the kids start to think that I'm sick.""You are.""I am not, I'm just tired.""And how sure are you about that Morgan? What are you? A doctor?"I rolled my eyes picking up my bag to head for the office. "I'm fine dad, I'll be fine. Trust me."He made as if to say something, but decided against it. "Fine, I'll take your word for it." I smiled, kissed his cheek, and headed out for the office. The work I had been doing throughout the week was what was normally a month's work and today was to be the completion of it all. I hadn't been able to get up to
Morgan's POVWe stared at each other for seconds, wild thoughts running through my head. The man I had been avoiding, the one I had used at the fundraiser was Winston Valentine, a doctor. What in the history of coincidences is this? My heart started to race in my chest. Why?! Why?! I had done a very good job at avoiding him so far! And now he's my doctor? Finally, he cleared his throat, making us break eye contact. I looked down at my hands, speechless. I couldn't help but feel slightly embarrassed. "So...you are Miss Morgan Rosewood." He said with emphasis on the Rosewood."Yes, I am." I said quietly. Thank goodness he didn't start off with something from the fundraiser. Was he acting like we never met or was he in his doctor self or did he not remember me? I think I would go with either he first or the second."So let's hear the reason you are here."I raised my head and stared at him. "I've been feeling weak, tired and dizzy. Sometimes, my stomach seems to be in pain and then toda
Morgan's POVAs we walked to the lab, we kept talking. Mostly him doing the talking while I, doing the questioning. We talked about the hospital, and how he happened to be the owner of such a big hospital at such a young age."Really? How old do you think I am?"I laughed, looking at my shoes, and then back at him. "I don't know." I finally said."Take a wild guess."I looked at him trying to figure out how old he could be, but I couldn't come up with anything. I had been calling him young, and he sure looked young, but how young was he?"Twenty seven? Or twenty eight I guess." I said with a shrug."Nope, wrong." He said with a smile. "Think again."After two more failed attempts, I finally have up. I wasn't that much of a genius anyway, except when it came to business deals and evil setups."Twenty six." He said, dropping my jaw. "Twenty six? I was this close." I said, making a tiny hole with my index finger and my thumb. But he sure was young. A CEO at age twenty six? That was craz
Morgan's POVA Saturday. Finally. If only I could scream and mean that. But no! I had work as usual, and I had to finish up more and more work that had been piling on my desk, day in day out. I couldn't complain because, hell! That was the Rosewood oil mill.I got down from the bed yawning, washed up and went to have breakfast. I knew I had to get to work early, to at least get a lot done before lunch, but unluckily for me, I woke up just a little bit late, even when I knew that investors were all lined up, wanting to invest in different segments of the enterprise. Some wanted to invest in the food segment, others shoes, clothing, jewelery, but the biggest we had been expecting, was our potential investor of the year that wanted to invest in our jewelry segment. My favourite!"You overslept." Miranda said as soon as I got to the dinning room. "What am amazing good morning Miranda. Where have your manners gone?" I was surprised that that would be the first thing my four year old daugh
Morgan's POVThe moment I walked into the conference room, every cell in my body screamed at me to turn around and pretend like I hadn't seen the man seated at the edge of the table."Hello, Morgan" Dante said, rising to his feet. I would be lying if I said my heart didn't skip a beat. Both at seeing him and hearing him call my name. "What are you doing here?" I spat in anger, letting my irritation and obvious distaste for him be shown. "You're meeting an investor, Morgan" Dante said and shook his head. He chuckled like it was the funniest joke ever. "It doesn't take two brains to know that it's me."Goddammit!! After all this trouble of seeing him and Nova at the fundraiser and me believing that I would never see him again, he just walks into my enterprise as the anonymous investor Rosewood had been expecting.I didn't even bother sitting down to have another second of wasted time on him. I straightened myself, looking him dead in the eye, trying to hide the feelings of hurt, love,
Morgan's pov:"May I join you?" Winston asked, his eyes sparkling with a smile."Sure" I replied. He took the seat opposite mine and turned to the waitress. "I'll have the fettuccine pasta and a side of chicken.""And I'll have the beef Wellington and some wine.""Wine?" Winston asked and chuckled. "I know it's the middle of the day but I need it." I said with a sigh. " You don't want to know why.""Okay that will be all?" The waitress asked, her gaze travelling between us both. "Yes thank you," I said. She walked away to get out orders ready."Actually, I do." Winston said, making me turn to him. "I want to know what happened."I thought back at the conference room, seeing Dante sitting there so smug and so proud. And anger flared up inside me."I met someone I didn't want to ever see again."Winston nodded solemnly. "That can be hard.""Tell me about it. And the audacity he had! Urgh! ""I'm so sorry you had to deal with such," He said, sincerity in his eyes. "It's not your faul
Morgan's POVI stared at him while he waited for me to say something. "My father?" I repeated, more to myself than to him. I was at my father's funeral only for his exact look alike to show up, calling himself my father. "I think you should leave." I voiced out going to sit back down on the seat when he blocked me."Morgan let me explain.""I'm not in the mood." And truly, I wasn't. I was already a mess thanks to my dad and Cole's death. Just thinking about them made my heart heavy all over again and the last thing I wanted to hear was that my dad wasn't my real dad. A clap began to echo as Cammy walked into the hall with Sabrina. "Wow!" She announced turning to Sabrina. "Seems your sister has known the truth Rina." She cocked her head at me then back to Sabrina. " Why didn't you tell her?"My breath hitched up in my throat while my attention snapped to Sabrina. "You knew?" No matter how much I tried, I couldn't hide the disappointment in my voice."Morgan..""You're hiding things fr
Morgan's POVI smiled as Miranda walked out if the car, waving at me as she headed into the school. Yesterday, I had heard her tell her classmates, who were Cole's friends that her brother had travelled because he wanted to be a billionaire and couldn't handle how dumb they were.It brought the years back but I smiled when she spotted me and came running. It was best for her, because I couldn't see how I could break the news to a four year old that her twin brother was dead and his funeral was in two weeks. Driving back to the apartment I had rented when Miranda and I had been discharged from the hospital a week ago, I opened the door to find the maid that had been coming from time to time inside making food and some side dishes while stocking them into the fridge. I wanted a maid and she had popped up one of the days, so I employed her. I couldn't stomach visitors, especially sympathetic ones and I hadn't told anyone where I had moved to. Not even Sabrina. "The clothes arrived few
Sabrina's POV As I sat turning the stylus in my had over and over again, the happenings of the past eight days replayed in my memory like a screen in a cinema. The sharp piercing straight to my heart as I watched from the glass in the door as Morgan hugged her daughter crying bitterly. That scene alone was the stamp on all that had been happening around me. Cole was really dead, and I didn't see it coming, neither could I do anything to stop it.Perhaps, if I had found them sooner. If I wasn't so scared to find out. If only I had been bold. That was why I had been apologizing. I would have been able to stop all of this, had I known earlier. A knock sounded on my sore, framing my focus back to the gate that I was in the office. "Yes?"Nora poked her head through the door. "The hearing is in twenty minutes." She announced to which I nodded.I had sued Nova for the kidnapping of the kids and the murder of my Dad. I wasn't sure if the latter but all my instincts pointed their fingers a
Morgan's POVBlinking slowly, I realized I had been out for some time. Dante was no where to be found and the hospital suddenly felt too quiet for a hospital. Gooseflesh popped out all over my skin as if a cold wind had blown all over me. The sound of a door opened, diverting my eyes in it's direction to see Winston walking out of it with a doctor and some nurses. I had barely gathered enough strength to stand when he squatted before me hugging me tightly. There was something like reassurance and... Sadness in his hug. When he pulled away, he jet my eyes with some gloom that my heart began to pound."I'm sorry." He said. His voice sounding like someone who had been shouting. "Sorry...? For what?" He lowered his head, avoiding my gaze. I got up from the seat looking over the medical practitioners who all had looks of dismay on their faces. "What's going on?" I asked with panic evident in my voice. Winston got up, taking my hands in his. "I tried all I could. We tried.""No..."I whi
Sabrina's POVFor a complete ten minutes, I sat in my car, thinking about nothing and everything at the same time. I couldn't bring myself to walk into that hospital and see Morgan in so much pain and agony, but I had to do it anyway. I paused my walk as I saw her and Dante on the bench outside the OR with her fast asleep on his shoulder. She looked just as worried as she was when awake as she did while in her sleep. Dante's eyes turned to me as of sensing my presence. "How did it go?" "As planned. She's been taking care of. ""And you?""And me what?" I exhaled walking towards them, getting a clearer view of Morgan now I was close by."When are you going to come clean?" Before I could respond, he added. "And you know what I'm talking about Sabrina. I know you're hiding something. we both know that." I nodded in response. "I know.""So?""Soon.""Soon could be anytime." He remarked. "Morgan has been through a lot and I hope that what's ever it is you're hiding wouldn't cause her a
Morgan's POV"Keep your hands up and stay right where you are!" The police ordered rushing into the building. There on the floor, all I could see was Miranda crying her eyes out with Cole still unmoving. No matter how much I wriggled, the bonds couldn't come loose. Nova sprouted to her feet making to run when a lot of lasers pointed at her making her freeze. "Hands above your head!" She obeyed. Unconsciousness tried to take over from the force of the metal edge of the seat digging into the back of my neck, together with how tight the bonds were now that I was head first on the floor. "Morgan!" In a flash, hands were all over me trying to loosen the bonds from my hands. They had barely finished when I rushed to my kids only to be stopped by the paramedics that had just rushed in. "I'm sorry ma'am we have to rush them to the hospital.""And I'm their mother!" I yelled trying to get past them, a jab finding my heart with a closer look at Cole. He looked dead. "Mummy..." Miranda cr
Morgan's POVSomething cold was dropping on me, in droplets every now and then. No matter how I moved, my feet and hands wouldn't comply. They seemed to be obeying a force greater than me. I was cold, my entire body ached, it was all dark. Open your eyes! Open your eyes! Someone seemed to be screaming. But I couldn't comply, couldn't bring myself to open my eyes. Then I began to fall into a dark and deep tunnel, head first. Move your arms! The same voice in my head screamed but I couldn't. The force holding my feet and hands were far stronger and seemed to be digging into my wrists, causing pain to splutter through me. I couldn't die with my twins. That's right! My twins... Where were they? I had to find who had kidnapped them, had to find and rescue them. Had to live with them, tell them their father. I couldn't die here. Or was this just my inner motivation while I was falling rapidly towards my death? Was I really going to die here? Struggling more and more against the force ho
UNKNOWN POV"Why me?!" Cammy's daughter screeched shaking her legs and folding her arms while pouting."Come on sweetheart..." Cammy started but her daughter wasn't having any of it. She got up from the seat she had been shuffling her leg wanting to go into her room, when she knocked down a cup from the dinning table. Looking at the cup for some time, she began throwing all the plates on the dinning table down. "Sweetheart listen..." Cammy tried to calm her down but she wasn't having any of it. "Why me?" She screamed at her mother who had gotten on her feet to stop her, tossing more and more plates to the floor. "Why do I have to be the bait? The scape goat?" When cammy didn't reply, her daughter threw a cup at the wall, screaming."Aren't you going to do something about her?" Cammy's voice rose an octave as she questioned her son who sat at the table eating macarons while watching his sister throw tantrums. He shook his head. "Let her enjoy herself." He said with a smile. "Is this
Dante's POVSabrina's grip on my hand felt like breeze compared to the pounding if my chest. All I heard as I rushed towards Winston in anger was the thumping of my heart. I bet Sabrina was screaming but I didn't know for sure. She was gone. And Winston was juts walking out of her hotel eve after I had given him a wrong one. How? He was a shady one and I wouldn't be surprised if he had trackers in her or even asked someone to tail her or even tail me.I punched him in the guts and was about to punch him again when he gripped my hand, shock evident on his face but I wasn't taking it. Taking my hand from him, I raised it again only for him to block the punch. "Can't you speak about your problem with me? Nuts you be violent?""Speak?" I scoffed taking a look at him from his head to his toe. "You want me to speak when you're just walking out of Morgan's hotel seconds after she's gone missing?""What the hell are you talking about?""Don't play smart with me bastard.""Play smart? I came
