7:Morgan'sPOV:
I drove as fast as I could, away from the fundraiser, exceeding the speed limit. To believe that of all the people in the world that I could bump into, Dante with that stupid bitch Nova! And ruin my perfect life! Don't don't, please don't! I pleaded with my tears. They were so close to breeching my lash line. The tears were stubborn, ignoring my pleas. With the back of my palm, I wiped them away from my face, trying to focus on the road before me, overtaking cars like a drunken driver would. I had tried all that I could to put the past behind me and create a new life for myself, for Cole and Miranda. I had moved on...or so I told myself to believe. And before I knew it, there was Dante, just there. I almost ran into the policeman waving a Barton in front for me to allow down. The force I applied on the brakes, if applied on a speed faster than the one I was on, would have landed me in the hospital with immediate surgery for a heart surgery. I quickly wiped the tears from my face as the policeman came knocking on the window of my car. Putting on my best smile, I wound down the glass. "You know you are well above the speed limit ma'am." He said, a hard pressed line on his lips. "I'm sorry officer," I said. He requested for my license, which I gave to him. He also checked other things and began rambling on about stuff I couldn't grasp due to my involvement in the thoughts concerning Dante. "Miss Rosewood?" He called. "Yes?" I wiped tears from my eyes and turned to face him. "Is everything all right?" I nodded. "This happens to be your first time over speeding, so I'll let you pass on this with no license points." He handed my license over. "But anymore of this, would attract a fine of a hundred pounds which I am sure that you know of." I nodded, eager to get out of there and get to my room where I could bawl all I wanted to. "Have a nice evening miss." I tried a smile but failed, kicking my engine into motion. Trying my best to keep my speed limit in check. I sniffed, keeping the tears in, at least till I got home, to the comfort of my room. "You are home quite early miss Rosewood..." Mr Vontrap was saying but my mind was too clogged to pay attention. I walked as fast as my feet could carry me to the room and then broke out into a run when I found out that I couldn't keep the tears in anymore. I ran into my room, banging the door shut behind me. Then the tears came rushing in. Damn him! Damn him! Damn him! The memories just came flossing back. The night he had returned home with Nova, the way he had shoved the divorce papers at me, the way he said that he never loved me... How he sent me out of the house... All the days, weeks, and months I had spent thinking that in some sort of way, a miracle might occur and send him back to me, apologizing for all that he did, taking me back to the fairytale life we had, where we would live, watch our children grow and grow old together without worries. How I had spent time thinking of all these things... Only to meet him there, at the fundraiser, with Nova...Nova! I just let the tears keep flowing, till there were no tears left to cry. A knock on my door, got me up to my feet. "Daddy?" I checked the time on my wristwatch, and it was 8:00 pm. So fast? How did I lose track of time like that? "Can I come in?" "Of course." I shifted away from the door, letting him in. "But first..." I said closing the door behind me. "The fundraising went well. Too bad you missed it." He cut me off, dodging whatever it was I was going to say. "Dad..." "Everyone wanted to see you. Mia was even surprised you left without seeing her..." I had forgotten! Mia Loveson and I were to go out and have fun after the fundraiser. I would have to call her and apologize. But that would be later. Right now... "Daddy!" I called firmly. "Okay, you got me." He raised his hands, with a sigh. "You left because of him didn't you? " "No! I didn't." I said defending myself. "I was just tired and needed to rest." He raised his eyes inquisitively, and it was then that I knew I had fallen into his trap. He hadn't said who the 'him' was. "Okay, you got me." I sighed, sitting in my bed. He came to sit beside me, a look of worry in his eyes. "I might not know what it feels like, but I'm here to listen..." I drew in a deep breath, angry at the tears that had began to awake. "I... I.." Then they came pouring. "Shh... It's okay." He took me into his arms, patting my back. "It's okay princess. It's okay." It felt safe to cry in his embrace. And I was more than grateful that I had him with me these four years, by my side, my comforter, a shoulder to cry on, my father that came to me when I needed him. I don't want to let go but he had duties to attend to, more like an after party with his friends. After he was gone, I checked in on the children that were asleep, making a decision to protect them from their unavailable fatter that had magically showed up just as he magically drove me away. I went back to my room, sleep was like a farfetched dream. It was after tiny streaks of daylight began to struggle their way into my room that I manged to get a few hours of sleep, only to be woken up by the incessant buzzing of my phone. "Mm hmm?" I mumbled, sleep still clogging my senses. "Not a good morning?" A familiar husky tone asked. "Mia!" I gasped, getting up from the bed. "I'm sorry about yesterday..." "I know. Something came up. Your dad said you had to be home early so I had no right to get angry." I took a deep breath. What would I do without my dad? "There's a tea party today. Precisely, this evening, for all the 'ladiez' " she said with enough emphasis on the 'laidiez'. Of course she meant the women of money, women born into wealth. "And you are coming?" "Typical Mia Loveson." I sighed, getting up from bed. "You don't give a chance to reply do you?" "Never." She responded, laughing. "And make sure to clear your schedule before coming. You can't bail on me a second time." And the line went dead. "Mommy!!!" Cole screamed jumping on the bed. I almost lost my heart at the scare he gave me. "What are you doing here?" I asked scooping him up. "Just playing. Did I scare you?" "No you didn't sweetie. But why would you be playing this early?" "It's more like an exercise an less of play." He said as I put him down. "And who is this play mate? " I asked chuckling. "My dog, Molly." "Molly?" I asked, shocked. "Your dog's name is Molly?" But he was out of my room before he could hear my question, let alone answer it. Funny, that's the name of the make believe dog that man mentioned. Coincidence is such a funny thing.Morgan's POVThe tea party was on the rooftop room of the Loveson's Mansion. The room wasn't particularly a room but looked more like a luxurious apartment of its own. It had been well lit with golden lights on its inner walls at strategic places, to give the place an ethereal look. There were flowers in their beds, close to the lights, she raised a veil over the apartment to give room for the golden lights to illuminate in their full glory. I caught myself smiling within. She should have just made it a night party if she was looking for such an effect. And in the center of the main room, there was a table for ten. I recalled being here last year, for Mia's birthday, where she had almost fallen off the roof due to her drunken state. Typical Mia.But today was much more different. Maybe because it was morning or maybe because it was just a tea party for the ladies. But I was wrong. There, among eight of the women at the table was that bitch."You look gorgeous." A husky female voice
Morgan's POVI instantly got up, the pain driving me insane. She had poured hot tea on my boobs. "What is wrong with you?!" Thelma shrieked running over to me with a little towel in her hands. Control yourself, control yourself Morgan. I took in a deep breath, the pain eating at my chest."Here." She said, handing me the towel."Thank you." I took the towel from her and wiped the remnant of the liquid off my chest but it was too late for the dress, it had already been ruined."Thank you so much Nova Bloom." Mia said. "For ruining my party. But also know that this would be the last party of mine, that you get to attend."I dropped the towel on the table, picked up my bag, turned and left the party.Holding everything in, I carefully drove home, like a good citizen would, reminding myself of the warning I had received the last time I had over sped, till I got home.I got in the bath, my chest red due to the hot tea. I couldn't cry, or rather, I shouldn't cry. First, at the fundraiser,
Morgan's POVMy phone kept beeping. I groaned in anger at whoever deemed it fit to wreck my sleep. Who the heck was disturbing me so damn early in the morning? I moved my hand, looking for my phone that wouldn't stop beeping. As I moved my hands, I hit the phone and knocked it down to the floor."Great." I mumbled. "Just great."The stupid nonsense was still an annoying little sleep wrecker, buzzing every now and then. Then it began to ring. What the hell?!? I got up out of frustration after the final ring and picked the phone up from the floor, eager to see who it was.An unknown number. Texts, also from the same unknown number. I opened it. The first read 'good morning, how was your night?'. I opened the next, 'How have you been?'. I scoffed. What trick did Dante exactly think that he could play on me? That he could appear all of a sudden and walk back into my life the way he walked me out? He had to be kidding.Without a second thought, I blocked the number. If he wanted to see h
Morgan's POV"You know if this persists, you will have to go see a doctor.""Are you sick mummy?""No, I'm not!" I was saying for the umpteenth time. "I'm not sick Cole, okay?" I eyed my father. "Now off you go with Molly. Come on."After he had gone out of earshot, I turned to my father. "What?!""Just because I told you how I've been feeling lately, doesn't mean that you have to talk about it," I said out of frustration. "You are making the kids start to think that I'm sick.""You are.""I am not, I'm just tired.""And how sure are you about that Morgan? What are you? A doctor?"I rolled my eyes picking up my bag to head for the office. "I'm fine dad, I'll be fine. Trust me."He made as if to say something, but decided against it. "Fine, I'll take your word for it." I smiled, kissed his cheek, and headed out for the office. The work I had been doing throughout the week was what was normally a month's work and today was to be the completion of it all. I hadn't been able to get up to
Morgan's POVWe stared at each other for seconds, wild thoughts running through my head. The man I had been avoiding, the one I had used at the fundraiser was Winston Valentine, a doctor. What in the history of coincidences is this? My heart started to race in my chest. Why?! Why?! I had done a very good job at avoiding him so far! And now he's my doctor? Finally, he cleared his throat, making us break eye contact. I looked down at my hands, speechless. I couldn't help but feel slightly embarrassed. "So...you are Miss Morgan Rosewood." He said with emphasis on the Rosewood."Yes, I am." I said quietly. Thank goodness he didn't start off with something from the fundraiser. Was he acting like we never met or was he in his doctor self or did he not remember me? I think I would go with either he first or the second."So let's hear the reason you are here."I raised my head and stared at him. "I've been feeling weak, tired and dizzy. Sometimes, my stomach seems to be in pain and then toda
Morgan's POVAs we walked to the lab, we kept talking. Mostly him doing the talking while I, doing the questioning. We talked about the hospital, and how he happened to be the owner of such a big hospital at such a young age."Really? How old do you think I am?"I laughed, looking at my shoes, and then back at him. "I don't know." I finally said."Take a wild guess."I looked at him trying to figure out how old he could be, but I couldn't come up with anything. I had been calling him young, and he sure looked young, but how young was he?"Twenty seven? Or twenty eight I guess." I said with a shrug."Nope, wrong." He said with a smile. "Think again."After two more failed attempts, I finally have up. I wasn't that much of a genius anyway, except when it came to business deals and evil setups."Twenty six." He said, dropping my jaw. "Twenty six? I was this close." I said, making a tiny hole with my index finger and my thumb. But he sure was young. A CEO at age twenty six? That was craz
Morgan's POVA Saturday. Finally. If only I could scream and mean that. But no! I had work as usual, and I had to finish up more and more work that had been piling on my desk, day in day out. I couldn't complain because, hell! That was the Rosewood oil mill.I got down from the bed yawning, washed up and went to have breakfast. I knew I had to get to work early, to at least get a lot done before lunch, but unluckily for me, I woke up just a little bit late, even when I knew that investors were all lined up, wanting to invest in different segments of the enterprise. Some wanted to invest in the food segment, others shoes, clothing, jewelery, but the biggest we had been expecting, was our potential investor of the year that wanted to invest in our jewelry segment. My favourite!"You overslept." Miranda said as soon as I got to the dinning room. "What am amazing good morning Miranda. Where have your manners gone?" I was surprised that that would be the first thing my four year old daugh
Morgan's POVThe moment I walked into the conference room, every cell in my body screamed at me to turn around and pretend like I hadn't seen the man seated at the edge of the table."Hello, Morgan" Dante said, rising to his feet. I would be lying if I said my heart didn't skip a beat. Both at seeing him and hearing him call my name. "What are you doing here?" I spat in anger, letting my irritation and obvious distaste for him be shown. "You're meeting an investor, Morgan" Dante said and shook his head. He chuckled like it was the funniest joke ever. "It doesn't take two brains to know that it's me."Goddammit!! After all this trouble of seeing him and Nova at the fundraiser and me believing that I would never see him again, he just walks into my enterprise as the anonymous investor Rosewood had been expecting.I didn't even bother sitting down to have another second of wasted time on him. I straightened myself, looking him dead in the eye, trying to hide the feelings of hurt, love,
EIGHTEEN YEARS LATER. The chill in the air warned of approaching winter. The night sky was lifeless without a single star or the moon in sight. Silent, cold, like death. On the roof of a fifteen story building were two men, one younger and the other older. The younger man had his face hidden with a dark hood, but lifeless blue eyes peered out of the darkness. He had his arms folded, muscles bulging under his hood, his skin covered with scars, bullet holes, and tattoos. He had a handsome face, quite striking. But there was no emotion on that face. He watched the street below, the people who hurried about trying to get home before the storm came. The young man stood deathly still one would think he was a statue. "Do you understand your mission?" The older man asked in a gruff voice. He walked up to the younger man's side, making sure to keep a safe distance. "Yes." The younger man replied, coldly. "And please, don't bring in dead bodies. I need them alive, are we clear?" From a
THIRD PERSON POV:"You abandoned me!" Nova screamed at her brother. "Do you know what that felt like?""I fucking didn't abandon you!" Winston yelled back. "Didn't you see? I was also in jail."She screamed so loud, the men around them, had to rub their ears. "It's all that bitch's fault." She screeched. "I'll make sure to tear her apart when I see her.""You have to sit. The plane is in transit." Exhaling in anger, she sat down as the jet moved off the runway and into the air. "What of mum?"Winston smiled looking out the window. "What do you think?" Before his sister could reply, Dr. Shirley walked in, handing Winston a tablet. "It's still in position." She announced with a smile as Nova walked over to them. "What is that?" She asked."Well my dear sister," Winston said as he looked at the red flashing dot on the screen. "Four years ago, Morgan was Dr Shirley's patient. I had Dr Shirley plant a small tracking device in her."Nova gasped and faced him. She grinned impishly and wi
Morgan's POVMy foot bounced as I waited for the video call to connect. My entire room was in a mess.Come on!The ball connected and Sabrina's face came on the screen. "Morgan?""Okay Rina. I'm freaking out!" I started as soon as she picked the call. I jumped to my feet and placed the tablet on the table. "I need your help!""My help with what?" She asked. She had a sheet mask on her face and was eating a bowl of cut apples.I picked up three gowns and held them up. "Which one?"She bummed and stroked her chin. "Hmm, this is really hard.""Oh come on." "I'm serious Morgan. I can't say. ""Just try.""Okay..." She started. She narrowed her eyes and leaned closer. "The white one... Purity... Nice. The red one... Sexy... Good. The pink one is cute and also good. How do you expect me to pick?""That's not an answer. ""What is this even for?""I have dinner with Dante."Her eyes widened and she let out a long squeak. "Oh my goodness finally! That took longer than I expected!"I rolled m
Morgan's POVSIX MONTHS LATER:I lowered the music blasting through my car radio as I tried to parallel park. "Morgan?!" Sabrina's voice came through the speaker. "Guess what I just saw?" I asked Sabrina on the phone as I made to park my car."What?""Listen and don't interrupt.""Okay..." From her voice, I knew she was confused but nevertheless, she'd figure it out. I cleared my throat and began to recite the headline I had just seen. "CEO Sabrina Emily Rosewood, tops the chart as the youngest CEO of Rosewood enterprises to top first three in profits, assets and company growth in less than seven months.""What the hell?" She burst out laughing. "Seriously... You shouldn't sing my praises like that. It's creepy.""I'm creepy." I said with a chuckle. I took my phone and purse and walked out of my car. I headed up to the building in front of me. "Yeah. You are." She said fondly. "I gotta go. My dad needs my help with something.""Again..." She groaned. "I barely even see you these
Morgan's POVThe consistent ping ponging of the door bell shut me out of my haze of confusion and uncertainty. I stared at the screen of my television watching as the investigators were ceasing boxes an boxes of files from Winston's office as they announced that he had been arrested last night as an accomplice in my dad's murder. How was I supposed to take that? The man that I had lived with since I was disowned by my dad happened to have a hand in his murder. But I couldn't understand it at all. Nova killed my dad, while Winston was an accomplice. How and why? It didn't make sense. The ping-ponging continued, but it seemed too far away as I slipped back into the news. The news droned on saying the had been sent an anonymous tip and we're grateful to whoever it was."During the investigation," The anchor continued. "The police have discovered evidence of slush funds, unethical medical practices alongside malpractices and other law punishable offences that are yet to be discovered.
Sabrina's POVI ended the call, feeling disgusted with myself. I had just lied. A lie that would come back to bite me in the ass. I hadn't told Morgan anything. Infact, I had told her that I wasn't hiding anything from her while I was hiding tons. And Winston, I wasn't looking into him one bit. I already knew everything. I had known everything since the reading of daddy's will. And here I was, going to his house as the sun was setting. By the time I got there, it was night. I rang the doorbell, and was ushered in by a butler with a smiley face as if he had been waiting for me to show up. I was led to Winston's study where he stood by the window, sipping from a glass of wine. He didn't turn nor acknowledge my presence until he had finished his glass of wine. "Does Morgan know you're here?" He finally said. His voice sending chills down my spine. "It's isn't proper of you to visit your sister's boyfriend in the dead of the night. " He turned to me with the most lifeless eyes I had e
Dante's POVI rang her doorbell, shifting from one foot to another. Today, she wasn't going to push me away like before. I was going to make sure of that. The speed she used in opening the door told me that she was expecting someone. Was it Sabrina, or was it Winston? I prayed it wasn't Winston. The last thing I wanted was him him in Morgan's life. "Hey." She moved the door to shut it in my face when I blocked it with my leg. "I won't let you push me away today or ever again Morgan. ""I don't want to talk to you. I have nothing to say to you." We struggled against the door till I exhaled and poured it all out. "I know Morgan. I know. I've always know. " Her grasp loosened making me take advantage of the opportunity and opening the door "You know what?"I paused looking at her as she gasped for breath after our little struggle with the door. "I know about the kids..." She went silent. Including her breathing. "I know they're ours."I finalized, exhaling."What?" Her voice was barel
Morgan's POVA knock sounded, alerting me of Mark's presence. "Hey." I nodded, stepping aside for him to enter. "You live here." He said rubbing his hands together as I moved him to the sitting room and disappeared behind the doors of the kitchen, returning with a can of soda."Sit wherever you want." I said sitting down in front of him. "Right." He sat, staring around the house. "Explain yourself." I said."Explain what..?""You." I exhaled, adjusting myself and exhaling. He nodded, setting the can down in the table in front of us. "You must have a lot of questions." He said."I sure do. And you're taking a long time to answer them.""What do you want to know?""How about everything?"He took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. "Everything. Okay. Let me start from the top. I'm Stefan's twin as you know already. He was the golden son of the family and I was the delinquent."I nodded. My father is a delinquent. Good. "My brother and I weren't on good terms because of the judgemental
Sabrina's POVThe stillness around the house was deafening. Morgan hadn't taken anything I had said seriously, and I couldn't blame her. I knew important things about her and didn't tell her about it. I had hurt her and even if she pushes me away when I try to make things right, I wouldn't be surprised. I deserved it. Including what the future held if I was ever to come completely clean and tell her the rest. I couldn't imagine–didn't want to imagine. It would be best for the both of us it I were to tell her the entirety of the truth, but she was still in shock about all that had happened. I couldn't add to that. My eyes drifted to the door, recalling how she had banged the door as she left, and how my mother had spoken to her. How could she be so insensitive? Did she really care for only daddy's will? Did she really love him?Morgan didn't deserve this sort of wickedness. From my mum or any other person. She had lost way too much for no reason and the last thing she needed was s
