Christian and Retchet turned to Rebecca with raised brows.

“I beg your pardon? You’re going to pay off that bastard’s debt?” Christian questioned.

“A bastard he may be, he is still my dad,” Rebecca argued. “Besides, he may have offered to sold me, but I already volunteered myself first! You said you did not like how my father is running from his problems, and honestly, neither did I. But he’s the only family I have left. The one man my mother died believing in. This may be my dad’s problem, but it’s also my problem now!”

It was silent when Rebecca said that. Christian only stared at her with narrow eyes. Judging her, observing her action. Although it was painfully obvious how hard she was trying to put on that tough act, she still stared back at him with such determination. Teary and wavering, yes, with her hands trembling and lips a bit tense, but she still stood before him.

“Seems I’m not the only one hiding my claws,” he said in slight amusement, before inching closer to her. “Alright, we’ll play your little game. Since you offered yourself to this, you need to take responsibilities for your action."

Body a little tense from the closeness, Rebecca clenched her hands and stood her ground, asking, “What do I need to do?”

“It’s quite simple. Be my pet for a year. Succeed in that, and you and your father will be free from this debt. Fail. Well, not only will he need to pay it all back with his body, but you- for wasting my precious time in such useless agreement- will be demoted to my slave.”

Him saying such things in that cold manner made Rebecca pale, as she felt her mouth water in anxiety and stomach drop in fear. It did not help that Christian- the boy she thought she knew growing up- was looking at her with quite the dark expression in his eyes.

She wanted to say something. Anything to see if he really was that same boy she grew up knowing. But in the situation she was in? It was impossible. All she could do was nod.

“Good. Seems we have a deal then,” Christian spoke. He turned to Retchet then, and ordered, “Take her to my room.”

Both Retchet and Rebecca looked at him in shock at the command, for different reasons. A pair of expressions in which Christian was not amused with seeing.

“Forgive me for asking, Lord Christian, but are you sure? You want me to bring her to your room?” Retchet asked.

“You know I don’t like to repeat myself, Retchet. Besides, I’m her owner now. Is it not my job as the owner to care for my pet?”

Rebecca tensed at the question, wondering what he meant by that exactly. Fearing how he meant it. Yes, she agreed to being sold off to these people, to clear her father’s debt, but with the vague instruction on what she would be doing here, as well as the punishment that would be inflicted onto her and her father should she fail to uphold her promise?

Retchet, on the other hand, let out a sigh. “As you wish, sir.” To Rebecca, he grabbed her by the arm and started to drag her away. “Come on, girl.”

“N-No, wait! Let go!” Rebecca stuttered, trying to pull her arm out of his grasp.

Christian grabbed her other arm and forced her to look at him in the eye. “‘Let go’? When you volunteered for this? Who was it who agreed to taking responsibility for the situation she’s in? When she had the chance to be out of it. The moment you’ve become committed to this… is the moment you lost your freedom, pet. Now be the good girl that you are, and wait for me in my room.”

Without another word, he released his hold on her. As Retchet was about to resume in dragging the reluctant girl to Christian’s room, though, Rebecca planted her feet to the floor and pulled her arm out of his grip.

“I only mean I can walk myself,” she spoke, glaring up at Christian.

Christian raised a brow at the tough act she was putting on. An act that was clearly failing on her, given how she was trembling in his eyes. While she was not the first person to put on this facade, others before her were either criminals or other mafia- be they his men, or an enemy. Honestly speaking, he was not sure how to feel about it.

He turned his gaze to Retchet, who only shrugged his shoulders, and back to her. “Just wait in my room, then.”

Rebecca nodded at the command and resumed in following Retchet to Christian’s room.

"This is the lord’s room. Make yourself comfortable,” Retchet told Rebecca, as they stopped in front of a door with various ‘Do Not Enter’ or ‘Keep Out’ labels right on it, complete with a barricade tape forming a large ‘X’ on it. After walking up several steps from that meeting room, Rebecca had assumed she would be taken to the car to Christian’s house. Her hands were finally out of the cuffs on the walk up- most likely to avoid any suspicions when they exit out this hideout. She did not expect to just be taken to a different room on a different floor. Much less for the door before them to be one leading to Christian’s room. Retchet noticed the perplexed expression and asked, “Is something wrong?” While unsure about asking him, Rebecca grew too curious about the situation before her and spoke, “I thought Christian doesn’t live here.” Retchet narrowed his eyes at the statement and said, “It’s ‘Master’ to you. Don’t forget, you’re his pet now.” Rebecca flinched at the reminder, b

Christian was tired of it all. He was tired of these men trying to make a fool out of him. Tired of life at school, where many people bathe in his presence- be it fans fawning over him, or teammates wanting to share the glory he brings. He was also tired of the teachers trying to get on his good side, mainly the females. All because of who his father was. Rather… who his ‘caretaker’ was.Although he is of the Riverdale family, he is but an adopted son. No, he was just being taken care of by them. Yet, despite that, not only did anyone not mind the indirect relationship with such (distinguished) family- not when he had the skills and smarts to back it up- he never felt like a part of the family. Not because he was never treated well there, but more because he himself never bothered to get close to them. Not his adopted family, not the servants, nobody. Not after what happened to his mother in that household.Although he could not remember her face, he could still remember it well. The

When Christian was told that one of his debtors sold their child to him to pay off their debt, he was disgusted by the news. A human selling their child away so easily? It reminded him much of his own mother. The pain and humiliation she had to suffer because of her own kind, especially her own blood. While he has never met his other blood relatives, he has heard enough about them and what they had done to her.Any thoughts he once had for there being good in the human world- namely in the kindness in family, the very same one his mother gave to him- diminished from then onwards. Rather, he was convinced that all humans were cruel, with his mother being the sole exception. And here he was, hearing one of the many proofs of such belief. “What do you want us to do? Shall we take the deal?” Retchet asked.“What do you think the answer is?” Christian retorted. “You can bring the girl. However, that bastard parent of hers… If they think they can just brush over their debt so easily with t

Christian never thought he would hear those words from Rebecca’s mouth. When it was clear that her father did not care for her? How could this girl be so foolish to still give her life to such irredeemable human? Even after knowing exactly how much he owes, she still dared give her life away. Seeing her act that way to her own life…It sickens him.“I beg your pardon? You’re going to pay off that bastard’s debt?” he asked, wanting to make sure if he had heard her right.“A bastard he may be, he is still my dad. Besides, he may have offered to sold me, but I already volunteered myself first!”How Christian felt his eye twitch from that retort. She ‘volunteered’ herself to this. Willingly. He thought she was pitiful before, but now, the longer he looked at her…‘No! This damn slut… is not my mother!’ he mentally snapped at himself, not wanting his memory of his mother to be ruined by this human. A false smile formed on his face, as he then spoke to Rebecca. “Seems I’m not the only one

The next day, Rebecca woke up feeling groggy. Something that wasn't new for her, having gotten used to sleeping on the floor for so long. What was new, though, was the slight warmth and comfort from her blanket and pillow. Both which should’ve been so worn out, she wouldn’t feel any comfort from them. ‘Why do they feel different?’ she wondered.Opening her eyes, she found herself in an unfamiliar room and instantly sat up in stupor. “Where am-?!” She stopped her question, recalling what happened last night. “Oh, that's right. I was sold off.”It may have been of her own volition, but Rebecca couldn't believe her own father sold her to pay off his debt. Granted, she was not sold as a slave, and her owner was someone she was somewhat acquainted with. However, she had doubts that either made her situation any better."For now, I should probably just get up,” she figured. At least as a pet she still had some form of freedom. Best not push that luck, though. As she rose to her feet, the d

One quick shower later, Rebecca emerged from the bathroom refreshed, wearing some new clothes, as Christian had promised her. At first, she had thought she was to be given some hand-me-downs to wear, when she truly was given some freshly new clothes. Words could never describe her surprise from this. Why, she ever asked the girl who delivered the clothes if she had given them to the right person. A question that gave her quite the response."You have a problem with these?"If she was given old, worn out clothes, Rebecca would understand the response given. The ones delivered, though, were relatively new, as far as she could tell from the cleanliness. More than that, the mafia woman did not seem angered or annoyed when she gave her answer.‘Even though I’m just a pet? Or is it because I am not yet a slave?’ she wondered, looking down at the new shirt and pants she was wearing in puzzlement, plain as they may be, as she gave them a feel. After some breakfast, Rebecca was being driven to school. Like when she was sold to Christian’s mafia, a bag was placed over her head to prevent her from seeing where she was being driven. Unlike that time, though, she was not bound. Though that didn’t make her situation any comfortable for her.“Can I take this off now?” she asked Retchet, who was driving her to school.“We’ve driven a good distance. You may remove that blindfold,” he allowed. With permission granted, Rebecca removed the bag from her head, her eyes readjusting to the lighting as she looked around her surroundings outside the car. She recognized the neighborhood around her, for it was the route she usually took to school. “I can walk the rest of the way,” she spoke, not wanting to make a scene if someone saw her being driven to school in a fancy car.As though to oblige to her wish, the car gradually came to a stop, and the door was unlocked.“I will return here when school ends. No surprise for Rebecca, though, as it was well-known amongst their peers how much Jenna loves him. “Nothing for you to worry about, Chris. Just trying to get rid of some garbage. Nothing new here.”‘Nothing new’. Jenna was right about that, and Rebecca knew it. She may be Christian’s ‘pet’ now, but that changes nothing. Most especially not how he would be treating her during school grounds. The pair never interacted before, and given the condition of not telling anyone of how she was now living with Christian’s mafia group- as well as Christian being leader of said mafia- it

With Christian, as it was in the middle of the day, he has some difficulties slipping through the pack. Thankfully, there was a part of the fence that had a hole in it, big enough for him to go through in his wolf form, and poorly hidden. After that, he had to sneak past the many busy people in the village. They who seemed to be in a festive mood, as was the village itself.'Is there some werewolf festival going on here?' he wondered, hiding in the shadows."I can't wait for the young lord to be here," he overheard a female werewolf spoke. She a teenager, and speaking to some other females her age."None of us can. I still can't believe the Alpha has had a son this whole time, and none of us knew about it," another one of the females stated."I wonder what the son is like. Then again, since he is the heir, he must be someone dashing," another one of them said."Strong, too. He may have human blood running through his veins, but he is still an Alpha rank. At the same time, within Fenris’s mansion, the Alpha was just finished setting up some flowers in a vase on a nightstand right by Christen’s bedside.“What do you think of the flowers today, Christen?” he asked in a low tone, looking at his sleeping mate. “These are daffodils. They are said to symbolize new beginnings. And hope for a bright future. I thought they would be perfect since… Well you know, our son will be arriving today. Though, these probably are not the best flowers to use, considering the state of things.”Despite the words coming out of his mouth, despite how he is speaking to his beloved, as expected, she has not even reacted to a single thing he said. He had hoped that hearing about their son’s arrival would trigger something in her, give him a sign that she will wake soon, at least for the son she gave birth to and raised. But alas, as he feared, there were no sign of improvements at all to her condition.“I wonder if you will at least react to him being here,” he m

  • Shattered Heart: My Owner is the Mafia Alpha   Arriving at the Pack's Perimeter

Some days have passed since Wilford’s group saved Christian and Rebecca from the Neo Krawlers. In the time that passed during their travel to the Diamante Pack, while Christian kept his distance from their werewolf guides around them, Rebecca had been making some small talk here and there with them. If only to help ease tension between him and the rest of the werewolves. Get to know them better so she wouldn’t have to fear them so much. Her opinion of them most especially improved after they managed to find shelter the first night, and one of the werewolves provided proper medical treatment for her leg. She was honestly astonished to learn that even werewolves truly would need to learn some medical knowledge from that werewolf. Namely due to some certain factors that they apparently cannot heal from. “Hoe is your leg feeling, Rebecca?” Christian asked, getting her attention.“Hm? Oh, it’s fine, as far as I know,” she answered. “If anything, I should be the one asking how you are, Ch

Meanwhile, away from Christian’s group, the pair of werewolves who were sent by Wilford to assist Ratchet and Petra arrived at the area Rebecca had told them they had left them at. A part of the woods that had a large sturdy tree with a hollow opening, and a log that may be close by to it. ‘May be’, considering how Retchet had used it as a club or bat when he helped her and Christian escape. At the very least, the trio would’ve heard a scuffle going about as they approached, only to see no sign of their fellow Diamante werewolf.“Damn it, I think we lost them!” the male with blonde hair cursed.“It was quite the run to here. I’m actually amazed those two made it as far as they did as humans. Especially when one of them was injured and getting carried on his shoulders,” the female werewolf with her blue hair in braids stated. “This is not the time to be impressed. If Retche gets captured by the Neo Krawlers, that would be as bad as any of us Diamantes getting captured. No… It would be

As they walked to Christian’s father’s pack, the Diamante-Krawler Pack- or just ‘Diamante’ Pack- the walk there was quite silent. A bit too quiet for Rebecca’s liking. It wasn’t that she disliked it per say, as it was more that, being surrounded by people who knew Christian’s father, she had thought that Christian would want to know at least a little bit more about the man who gave birth to him. This was especially considering the fact that the bits of things they were claiming about him sounded to be good things. Nothing vile as Christian believed about him. As much as she wanted to know more about him, though, the truth about the father, she also knew that now was not exactly the right time. Not while she was being carried by the half werewolf in the middle of the crowd surrounding them.“You look like you want to talk about something,” Christian said, causing her to flinch.“Was it that obvious?” she asked.“I’ll only answer what I’m comfortable in answering. "Your mother’s name… Is it ‘Christen’?”How Christian’s world seemed to have turned when the question left the older werewolf’s mouth. The one other thing he knew about his mother that a certain handful also knew of. And those handful all hailed in the human world.Or so it should have been, as far as he knew. Unless if any one of Forrest’s werewolves had actually also returned to this world at some point and spoke about his mother to others by name, or Retchet himself for that matter.Rebecca stared at Christian in worry when he froze in stupor like this. Not that she could blame him, going by the expression he had. She certainly was not told by him or Retchet what his mother’s name was. In fact, if he never told anyone about his search for his mother, then chances are that he never told them about her name either. So for this werewolf to correctly guess the name right…“How the hell did you know her name?” Christian demanded, rage slowly building up in him as he slowly came to reali

All who seemed to be far from friendly."Who the hell are you lot?" the young Alpha demanded with a growl.Rather than feel threatened by the question, the feminine werewolf sarcastically stated, "Oh, how scary. You growling like that. And they say a dog's bark is worse than its bite?"One of her comrades snickered at the comment. "A dog? When that mutt has human blood running through his veins?"The statement took Rebecca and Christian by surprise.
