Morning peaked around the smell of bacon and eggs made Abey’s stomach rumbled. She opened her eyes, and walked into the kitchen. Gabriela was preparing their plates. “Good morning Abey, are you calmed down a little?” she said without looking at her.
“I don’t know, have you come to your senses?” Abey said sitting down at the table.
“Of course.” She said bringing the two plates of food to the table. “You should know me better then this.” She half smiled. “I know he is with Dremis; I was trying to get an edge on what Dremis’ plans were.”
“So, you are pretending like you are against me?”
“Ah I was beginning to wonder when you were going to wake up,” a familiar voice spoke. Abey looked around, but she couldn’t see who it was. Her hands were bound above her head, her ankles were secured in place. “I don’t understand.” “You went right into the trap.” He said walking to where she could see who it was. “Adrian.” “Yes.” He smiled. “Dremis will be here in a little while, you see your friend thought she had everything figured out. Yes we cannot get to you when you are in your apartment but when you went into the new age shop, I found you,” he said touching her face. “Dremis is going to be happy that your protector got you pregnant too.” &
Abey shuffled through her paperwork on her desk. No sleep last night, she wasn’t looking forward to work today. Another nightmare, kept her eyes open, her heart thumping hard in her chest. She'd been there before, lost in her thoughts the phone startled her. “Hello?” she said putting the phone on her right shoulder, going through the mess on her desk. “You coming tonight?” Gabriela asked. Abey forgot about the Coven meeting tonight, she didn’t want to disappoint anyone, but she didn’t want to use the remaining energy she had to call on the Goddess. “Um yeah that, I didn’t sleep th
Turning on the TV, she wanted to leave right then and there, but she'd only slept for an hour and her body ached for more sleep. Turning to her side, she closed her eyes again, this time she slept through most of the night.Abey grabbed her bag, and checked out, and headed back towards the highway. Grabbing something from McDonald's. “Take exit 315, then bear right.” the GPS instructed.Driving all day and into the next was tiring, she wanted to pull over, but she kept going. Driving down a long stretch of darkness, a sign, “Hollows Way 10 miles.” “Thank God,” she said turning the radio up. It'd be another half an hour of driving. Then a small hike up to the peak. Slowing the car down to a stop, she locked her car before wandering up the hidden path into the opening that led to her Tribe. She felt at peace walking through the
Driving through the night, she wanted to get as far away from there as she could. Her Grandfather's death broke her heart even more. Clinging onto his necklace, she forced herself to get a hotel and sleep a little. She was going back home to face more death and destruction. She felt paralyzed. Walking through the darkness, she wasn’t sure where she was going. Daniel warned her coming here was a bad idea. Something about tonight was off, she didn’t want to come here, not tonight. Closing her eyes, she tried to force herself to go back to her world. “Too bad that doesn’t work here,” Dremis said appearing about ten feet in front of her. He watched her curiously. “You know you can just accept what you are, or continue to fight it. When we come for you, many will die. Including your Daniel.” he half-smiled.Abey didn’t want anything to do with this place, she wanted
Gabriela opened her eyes and screamed. Abey elbowed him in the stomach. He released her, Abey grabbed Gabriela and ran to the car. “Get in!” she growled, seeing Dremis walking towards them. Abey and Gabriela sped away, heading east as the text message said. She was shaking badly. She wanted to pull over and faint. “What was that?” Gabriela said glancing at the back of the car. “Was, was that Dremis?” Abey glanced in the rear-view mirror. “Yeah, and he wants to kill you, or well I think he wants to kill you,” she said glancing at her best friend. “Although he said that he wanted to take you back to the prison?” “Weird, I don’t know. Where are we going? We're in danger, aren’t we?” she complained tucking her short brown hair behind her ears. “Yeah, I think so
Driving into Colorado made Abey's heart skip a beat, she knew that was a sign this state is where they must settle. “I think we're safe here,” Abey whispered.Gabriela rubbed her eyes, she wasn't ready to stop their road trip, but she wanted to start somewhere new. “Colorado? This state doesn't seem so bad,” she said smiling at the beauty of dead grass and not much else. Turning into a leasing office for apartments, Gabriela followed Abey into the building. “Welcome, how can I help you?” the lady behind the desk said smiling. “We're new in town, and we need an apartment for maybe six or so months, I have a new job starting here next month and figured we'd come out here early,” Abey said smiling.“ Ah well fill out this paperwork, and we'll see what comes u
Abey didn’t want to hear any lies, she wanted the truth. Her being an old soul? Hard to believe. “Look Daniel doesn't do me any favors and play this up any bigger, I don’t need it. I already have to figure out how to kill Dremis, and end my dreams.” Abey said crossing her arms. “You should just go back home, we don’t need more blood on our hands. I already owe my life to Gabriela, I don’t want to bear more blood on me. Understand?” Abey said before she walked into the darkness, she looked over her shoulder Daniel sat there watching her. Walking back to the apartment was painless, she wanted to go to bed and get a good night's rest but knew her dreams were probably haunted by Dremis. Closing her eyes she sat on her bed for a long minute. Daniel sat dow
Morning came around faster than Abey wanted. She rolled over again to an empty side of the bed. Rubbing her eyes, she grabbed some clean clothes and took a shower before finding Daniel asleep in the chair. She gently touched his shoulder. Daniel opened his eyes, “Good morning.” Abey said half smiling, “why don’t you come to bed, it's still early.” she said glancing at the seven-o-clock on the fireplace. “I'm okay here,” he said trying to stretch, but sleeping in a sitting position wasn't what he liked. “Come on, I'll stay out here and sleep,” she said pushing him up. “Come on,” she said pulling him along. Daniel's half-awake body followed Abey into her bedroom, she closed the door behind her. Daniel laid on the bed, Abey sat nex

Abey looked around the room, it was a plain bed with a black blanket, nothing special. Walking around the room she found a bathroom, a window that she could look out but it was too small for her to climb out of.Sitting down on the bed, she didn’t want to sleep but Dremis was right. She was tired, but she was also hungry. “Here,” Dremis said opening the door. “I had to go to your realm to get you food.” He said handing her a bag from McDonald's. “Thanks.” She said pulling out the food and laying it on the bed. She was starving, she devoured it quickly. Putting the empty bag and trash on the floor, she climbed into bed and slept soundly. “Abey.” Whispers in her ears. “Follow me.” “Where?” she said waking herself up. She was alone in the room; she wasn’t sure if it was a dream or if someone was calling to her. She wasn’t sure
Abey didn’t want the magic to be around, but Gabriela was right, there was no point trying to hide. “Go ahead.” She said shaking her head. “I am going to the store; I will be back later.” She said grabbing her jacket. It was a chilly day, but luckily it wasn’t snowing. Abey walked to the farmhouse first, she wanted to see if she would see Samantha again, she wasn’t sure if Dremis was lying about her being his sister. “Looking for Samantha?” Dremis said appearing near her. “Maybe.” She said turning to face him. “Why are you here?” “Because you are out in the open, I could take you and there isn’t anyone to stop me.” He said taking a step towards her. “Demon there is,” Daniel
Gabriela jumped up and moved in between the two of them. “You are not going to be getting anywhere near her!” “Oh, not right now I am not.” He said walking closer to Gabriela. “However, I am going to take you.” He said grabbing her before she could react. “Let me go,” Gabriela said struggling to breathe. “As I told you last night, you are isolated.” He said disappearing with Gabriela. “No!” Abey whined trying to stop him from taking her. She wasn’t sure what
Abey backed away from him. She wasn’t ready for this. “What do you want?” she growled. “Now that your boyfriend has been away, your guard is down.” He said walking closer to her. “I knew you were under magic, I just didn’t know who. At least until my informant told me so.” He said stroking her face. “I missed seeing you when you sleep. I know you haven’t told anyone about me recently.” Abey pulled away from him, she wanted him out of her dreams, but she knew he was a lot stronger than she was. “Go away.” She said walking away from him. “I want to dream in peace.” Dremis grabbed her. “Oh, I don’t think that is possible.” He said pulling her close. “You see I want you under my control again. Now that your boyfriend is gone, I should bring you here.” He said with his face inches from hers. “I love your fear of me.
