Ivy wasn’t sure what he was going on about, something made her sick to her stomach. “Um, Nick, no offense or anything, but I think you are crazy. Please take me home, I don’t want to you again after tonight. You are a freak and you are scary!” she said, pushing past him and to his car.

Nick knew he blew his chance to get Ivy to understand what was happening, and soon she would see it before she would believe it. He closed his eyes for a long moment, “alright I’ll take you home. I’m sorry I scared you.” He said sighing as he started the car.

“It’s just the first time I saw you in the hallway when that popular dude ignored you, and Stacy gave you that look, I wanted you. Something about you draws me into you,” he said. “I want you, damn it.” He spoke. “I feel like we have something more than both of us could understand at this moment.”

Ivy wasn’t sure where he would be, so she went to the park half expecting him to know she was waiting there for him. She was nervous, that he’d come and give her some more weird stories, she wanted the truth. Closing her eyes, she let the wind dance on her cheeks, “Hey,” Nick said walking up to her. Ivy opened her eyes, she half-smiled at him, “Hey.” “Can I sit?” he asked, pointing to the swing. “Sure.” She said pushing herself off the ground. He sat down, but they didn’t speak. She wanted to start, but she wanted him to be straightforward. “So? What are you doing out here alone?” he asked. Ivy slowed her swing down, he wanted to know what was on her mind, and she was going

Walking down the stairs, Dave was watching the news, he briefly looked up but didn’t say anything. Heading out the door without breakfast, Ivy wouldn’t stomach anything. The snow was falling hard, she didn’t want to walk to school. Most of the kids were already in the hallway, some of the teachers, too. She walked to her locker and grabbed her bags. “Hey,” Nick whispered in her ear. “Hey,” Ivy said, turning around. “You remember our deal?” “Yeah, this isn’t about that. I was wondering if maybe I could give you a ride home today after school. It looks like the snow isn’t going to let anytime soon,” he asked, taking the books out of her hand. “Sure, I guess, but I don’t want to talk about

Nick paced the floor in front of the Elder healers, his heart in his throat. “How is she?” he begged to know. The Doctor finally came out, it seemed like hours. “She’ll live, you have to watch her closely, she is the key.” She spoke softly. “Take her upstairs, watch her close.” Another hissed at him. “Alright.” He said picking her up and carrying her to a spare bedroom. Footsteps paced the floor near her. Ivy still wasn’t able to open her eyes, “Well, how is she?” Marcie asked. “She's healing, but slowly. We could still lose her. Why didn’t I go after her? Why didn’t I take her home?” Nick sounded frantic. “Nick, it’s not your fault. I am s

Morning peaked the corner; Nick was still sound asleep when Ivy woke up. She tried moving his arm without waking him, but he popped his eyes open. “Hey, beautiful.” He smiled. “Um, call me that when I've had a shower and look better,” she said, getting out of bed. “Eh, you're beautiful in my eyes no matter what you look like.” He yawned following Ivy into the bathroom. “Here are some of my mom’s clothes. I haven’t had time to get some of yours.” “Thanks,” she said, taking the clothes. “I’ll be out in a bit.” Closing the door. Ivy took a quick shower; the water was nice but burned on her wounds. Stepping out, she found a brush, and a toothbrush set out for her. She half-smiled as she slowly brushed her hair. &

Nick sat down next to Ivy; Marcie set their plates down in front of them. It smelled great, but something inside Ivy wanted out. She closed her eyes and counted to ten, the feeling went away. Ivy wanted to tell Nick about what she was feeling, but she didn’t want him to worry about what she was feeling. Maybe it was all the stress from everything from her parent's murders, from everything that happened at school. She was hoping she wasn’t losing her mind. Maybe she was losing her mind and she would find herself locked away in a padded room. Maybe that would be good for everyone, maybe she did kill her parents and the town would kill her for it. Maybe they would torture her for it. She sighed, but Nick didn’t say anything, she was thankful for that. Ivy atequicklyand looked at Nick. He was stunned. “What?” s

Sometime in the middle of the night, Ivy woke up, she couldn’t sleep. She got out of bed and went to the window. The moon was high, so it was early in the morning. She thought about going for a walk to clear her head. Looking back at Nick, she sighed. She put on her shoes and grabbed one of Nick’s hoodies, and headed out the door. She wasn’t going to go far, just a small walk. Walking down the stairs, Ivy was afraid but she forced herself to leave the house. It was still snowing, but she didn’t mind it too much. It wasn’t cold to her. She liked the snow either way. Closing the door, she rubbed her hands together, it was cold enough she could see her breath. She wasn’t sure where she would go, she would let her feet lead her walk. Closing her eyes, she let her mind wander.

Nick knew it was a bad idea to go to school tomorrow, but he wanted to keep it as normal as possible for Ivy. She was going to go through the ritual and it was going to be hard enough on her to not be able to control where she would go. Just the fact the Shadow Dwellers forced their magic into her body, she would be with them first, he wanted her to fight, but she would lose the fight. “Damn.” He said out loud, but Ivy didn’t hear him, and he was glad. Nick wanted to know what she was thinking, but he didn’t want to force her to tell him. He wanted her to be upfront about her thoughts, but she didn’t know him, so that put her guards up. He knew a lot more about her, but he didn’t want her to know that, not yet at least. “Tell me something, Nick,” Ivy said turning to face h

Nick knew this was going to be hard on Ivy, he’d already been through this, and it wasn’t going to be easy. She was going to fail more than once, and there wasn’t anything he could say that was going to make this any easier. They had seven days to plan for this, the Council would arrive a few days before start setting things up and to make sure she knew what would happen, and to make sure she didn’t run away. “I’m scared Nick, I don’t even know anything about this, and now I have seven days to deal with everything and accept my fate?” she said putting her hands to her face. “That’s like asking me to accept a whole new life without question.” “I know, this isn’t fair to you.” He said wrapping his arms around her. “I will do everything I can to make this as easy as I can. Samuel didn’t want to answer him on that one, but he was right. If the dark dwellers surrendered to the white dwellers then it would be over for everyone. She didn’t want to, but she wasn’t going to have a choice in the matter. “Quinn?” she whispered, hoping he was still alive. “I’m still alive, are you okay?” “I’m dying slowly still but something is coming and I don’t know what it is.” She said wanting to touch him but h

She didn’t do anything wrong that night, and he just happened to be there. “So your greed is what made you kill my life.” She said getting to her knees again. “So I am going to give you a little reminder of what you’re not getting.” She said sitting up. “You see my son bound my powers.” She said almost wanting to stand but her body was gone. “Oh look she might have some fight in her.” He laughed. “Don’t bother, because they are coming now.&

Everyone will come and try and take you this is going to become a fun and entertaining game.” Ivy wanted to show him that she was stronger than he gave her credit for, but she was still strapped down to the table, and he wasn’t about to let her try and get up. Her body burned from all the torture and she was already coughing up blood. She knew her time was limited. Ivy jerked her eyes open, the sun was shining through the window. She wasn’t sure what time it was. She sat up, the room was still spinning so she didn’t bother to try and get out of bed until Samuel came into the room with the tea. He didn’t come for a few hours and when he did he didn’t say anything. She drank the tea without much effort; Samuel helped her out of bed. She managed to walk down the stairs with help, but she still felt like crap. She tried to reach Quinn but he didn’t respond to her. The house was a lot less noisy today, she didn’t mind that. She wanted to go outside and see if she could get some air, but she knew she wouldn’t get that, so she didn’t bother to ask.

Ivy opened her eyes; she wanted everything to be a dream. She wanted to be lying next to Nick and everything to be back to normal, but she was in a dark room. She wasn’t sure if she would have enough strength to get out of bed, but she needed to find out if they found out any more information on the whereabouts of Nick and if Quinn had tried to attack them again. Getting out of bed, the room started to spin, so Ivy sat down for a moment to regain her ground. She wasn’t sure why she felt drugged but it didn’t matter. Getting to her feet she felt for the wall, and then for the doorknob. Slowly pulling open the door, the house was dark and she didn’t hear anyone moving around or talking. She still felt very weak, but she continued along the wall in hopes
