Chapter 1

1

“The crocodiles will tear me apart. Please can you let me out of here?”

No matter how humbly I pleaded, Harry Somerfield showed me no mercy.

Today was supposed to be our wedding anniversary. I had intentionally left work early to prepare a candlelight dinner.

But halfway through, he called to say he wanted to surprise me.

When I arrived at the location Harry mentioned, he cruelly tossed me into the crocodile pit.

It turned out that he was giving me a scare while giving his first love, Emily Milnes, a real surprise.

Seeing me struggling by the edge, Harry stretched out his arm to stop me from getting out.

He frowned at me, then pulled out a bundle of cash.

“The crocodiles are bred and they aren’t as fierce as wild ones. After you finish the live stream, I’ll give you the money, okay?”

I looked at Harry with bitterness. At that moment, he felt incredibly foreign to me.

I pointed to the crocodiles nearby. “If I really wanted money, I wouldn’t have stayed with you when you had nothing. Do you know how ferocious crocodiles are? I didn’t expect you would abandon your wife for another woman.”

Fearing my screams would reach the live stream, Harry hurriedly covered my mouth.

He pressed down hard, making it difficult for me to breathe.

At that moment, I only had one thought in mind. I had to escape.

But he didn’t want to give me a chance to struggle and forcefully pushed me into the pool.

As the viewer count for the live stream grew, many netizens argued about wanting to see the volunteer, which was me, take on a crocodile.

Emily laughed while replying to the comments, then affectionately linked her arm with Harry.

“Harry, look, everyone wants to see the crocodiles, but it seems like Hailey is too far away from them.”

Her implication was clear. She wanted me to fight the crocodiles to the death.

Seeing his beloved first love making a request, Harry quickly complied.

He threw all the bait beside me, and as the crocodiles sensed food, they hurried towards me.

Fortunately, because they weren’t wild crocodiles, they weren’t very aggressive toward humans.

But when faced with such animals, I was still scared.

Harry kept throwing bait around me, worried the crocodiles wouldn’t come close enough.

“We have other things to do later, can’t you hurry up and put on a good show?”

As the crocodile came closer, Emily’s live stream was suspended.

Harry looked at the warning notification that popped up and angrily threw the rest of the bait around me.

I used all my remaining strength to rush to the edge and begged him to get me out of there.

However, Harry looked down at me from above with cold eyes.

“Hailey Rane, I think you’re quite useless. Don’t you know how to put on a good show? Since you like slacking off so much, then you can just stay with the crocodiles.”
