Neon lights in the city shone even in day time. The man at the rear of the automobile gave orders to his driver on a thing to accomplish after his droppings at the office.

"Yes, boss," Nicholas said out loud. "I have a date with Amelia this evening, I should be done with all of these, before that time."

"Yes, thank you," Alexander greeted. He was on his way to the office as it was a new week on a Monday morning.

There was a lot to be done in his Enterprise after the hosted occasion at one of the top-rated five-star hotels in the state.

The driver quelled at the portico of a significant building. He waited for some time before a man in uniform stretched out the gate, the man bowed at the sight of the man in the backseat of the automobile. And Alexander, on the other hand, waved at him while they drove in.

The building was a big one, apparently one of the heftiest in the whole of New York.

Alexander hopped down when the man on the wheel packed at the lot, smiling. "Good morning, boss," a staff member who passed by greeted, also smiling.

"Good morning," he waved at the small woman. "How do you do?" He asked, but she was gone from his scenery and into the interiors of the Enterprise.

At the front of the main door was boldly inscribed 'Stone Enterprise'. Alexander gave a nod, he had requested the aged banner be removed and a unique one added in substitute and that had just been done.

His secretary, Jessica knew the right thing, anytime and anywhere.

"We have an update," the woman he thought of walked into the scene. "Good morning, boss. May I have your suitcase?"

"Jessica," he lauded, reflections of what it could be, cramming his head. "How are you this morning?"

"Very well," she jerked the suitcase off her boss's hand and they rolled past the reception, towards the escalator. "Come with me, I have a piece to show to you."

"Tell me you're done with the task I asked you to handle around this time last week." He scoffed, checking on his wrist for the time.

"Boss," Jessica cried. They wandered into the escalator and the man of the moment used the buttons. "Relax and wait until we arrive at the room."

Room? He knew it!

Excitement gurgled inside of Alexander at the thought of a new AI creation, created. How can he stop working with Jessica? She was his backbone in the Enterprise, even with the role of a secretary.

She was a help sent from heaven to him.

Wife material, per.

"Close, boss," Jessica looked at the timer and faced the man. "How ready are you?"

"I was born ready." He said.

And the escalator made a sound, announcing their arrival on the sixth floor. "Let's go!" Jessica said, walking out of the door. She scurried past a staff member as she, on her part, was excessively enthusiastic and ready to show the piece to her boss.

They arrived at the room.

Jessica helped with the key to the door.

"Ta-da!" She laughed and walked in before Alexander.

"Where is it?" Alexander asked. He shut the entrance behind him when they were inside and beheld the statue.

"What you are staring at, boss." Jessica laughed. "How do you like it?"

"Come on, Jessica." Alexander shrieked, walking nigher. He put off the piece covering the created technology's body and veered around to gaze at his staff. "No, this is beautiful."

"Hello," Jessica said, walking closer to the body, with a remote control in her hand. "I am Jessica, your creator."

"Hi, Jessica," the body said, her mouth moving. "I recognize your voice and face from the last time. How do you do?"

"I am well," Jessica replied. "I have brought with me the boss, he came to see how you are faring."

"I see," the creature replied. "Hi, boss, I am Synthara. It is nice to meet you."

Flabbergasted, Alexander moped. "This is the most beautiful piece we ever come up with, Jessica."

"Oh, why can't I move?" Synthara asked.

"Turn it off," the man in the room ordered. A sound came from the remote and Synthara went mute, staying in one position again.

"She has not been completely programmed," Jessica said. "I am yet to put her out for sale, too. Not until I am done with the programming."

"What more is left?"

"Core voice recognition, her second and third brain," the lady answered. "Maybe a fourth brain, and complete body parts movement."

Alexander gave a nod and walked over the room to a corner with a programmer and computer. He took his seat on one of the computers and turned to see Jessica who was all smiles. "I was choked with my speech and services at the occasion the other day."

"And then you were exhausted."

"Yes, I was," he said. "Then I decided to take the rest of the week off."

"You needed to rest," Jessica said. "It was important and I understand. Plus you allowed me to create this masterpiece." Her hand was pointed at Synthara.

"Yes, yes," the man said. "I don't seem to like her hair colour, though." He said again. "I want it dark, not blonde."

"I'd fix that."

"She looks human."

"That is why this is New York," Jessica scoffed, reaching the door. She opened and a staff member walked in. "We create anything beautiful. Beautiful is the word."

"Yes, we do." Alexander agreed, seeing the man who walked in. "Have you seen this piece, Mark?" He asked the man. "Jessica should be employed as a staff, not a secretary. Not anymore."

"No, I love my role, I can do both at the same time," she argued.

"She loves taking your suitcase," Mark chipped in. "...and searching for chocolate in it."

"I don't do that."

"Yes, you do."

The CEO let out a sigh, shut down the computer and walked to the door. "I've got tons of files to attend to, in my office. Guys."

"Jessica might want to help." Mark teased.

"She's done enough already," the CEO laughed, then turned to look at the lady. "Thank you." He greeted, opening the door and walking out of the room.

It was a task-full day at the office. The files he scheduled on attending to were all treated, all to his satisfaction. Appointments were fixed for the next day, and a part of him did not know how well he would attend, and what his words to the clients would sound like."Everything has been fixed," Jessica had announced earlier that afternoon. "Including her hair.""Body parts movement?" He inquired, wanting to go with her to the space to see the creation. At least, a conversation with Synthara would not have been a bad concept. But then at the same time, he was unproductive from the day's activity and waited patiently for Nicholas to do what had to be done."Yes," Jessica replied. "When I say 'everything', I mean 'everything', boss.""Good," he nodded, dismissing her from his office. He would check it out tomorrow, then put it out for sale and expect the creation to be purchased in at least, less than two weeks. His phone beeped, and when he checked, it was a text from his driver wh

His hand rubbed on the skin of the card, a dirty smile on his countenance. The last thing to think of was the woman, but Alexander could not help but think about her. There was just something special about her, something he could not bring his hands to lay upon. Heaven knew he didn't plan that sex, but then Emily's beauty pushed him too much, and he could almost not rest because she was in his cranium. What was the next thing to do with the entity in his hand? He wondered, his hands still getting on around it. Call her.Text her? Which was better? He thought, reaching for his device that kicked back on the bed. He took the yield of it up and sat up the next moment, unsure of the right words to type.Hello, he typed. Can we see tomorrow? I've got a thing to tell you."No," Alexander corrected. How about we make out again? I enjoyed it the last time. "No," he changed his mind, clicking on the minus sign at the end of the message page. "Emily Hartley, who am I unto?" Her harmless voice spoke into the device, her thoughts centred around who the caller might be.There was a soft cough, and somehow it bothered her that she took a call from an unsaved number. This person, whoever it was, had called for a while, since the night before from what she saw when she got up from her sleep early this morning. She had tried to reach back to him or her, but somehow it wasn't connecting and she let it be. Why should she care? What does he or she want? It was a man. Who else stalked in this manner?"Emily," she heard a man's voice this time. "Emily Hartley." He said this time, coughing again. Her jaws dropped. That voice. It was deep—familiar, sort of. He sauntered into the main hall, muttering something to himself. Staff who saw him approach them gave a nod, and a smile to complete the silent formalities. “Where is Jessica?” Mark, who strolled to the spot he graced with his feet, was asked. “Good morning, Mark.”“How do you feel, Mr. Stone?” Mark asked, grabbing the briefcase from his hand. “Jessica is in the room where Synthara lives.” The young man was attempting to be humorous, and the young CEO, who figured out the gesture, smiled shortly. “Get her for me as soon as possible,” he mandated, this time headed for the elevator that guided him to his office. Alexander did not turn around to look for Mark who held his briefcase—there was a kind of trust he had for his staff. Two especially. Arriving at his office, he shut the door after he walked in, still muttering words. Moments later, Mark was in the office, panting. “Here, sir.” He simply said, dropping the entity on the boss's desk. “Jessica will join you shortly.”Jessica

The story of her one-night-stand experience with a CEO in the city came as a shock to Olivia who refused to take the news. Emily on the other hand, did all she could do to convince her friend, with proof of the call from an unsaved number she received moments before she sauntered into the room that day.“So—” Olivia started, sipping from the glass of juice she held. “When will you join me at the Cafe?” She asked.“Don't do this, Via,” Emily laughed out a bit. “I am not joining you at the Cafe, for any reason.”“What do you expect when you have bluntly refused to take the job offer Alexander is proposing?” She asked. “You cannot annoy me less.” “I had sex with him, Olivia!” It was Emily's turn to cry. A glass of juice was picked from the table where it rested and brought to her lips in a second. “Put yourself in my shoes and tell me if you would want to have something to do with a man you had sex with, unplanned and impromptu.”“I can't bring myself to imagine such a thing, Emily,” O

Back in her office, she paced the footing starting from the moment of her walk into the space. What would she do? She thought aloud, stopping her trek at the window side. For the first time in a while, since she played her game, she felt somewhat guilty. No, not guilty but frightened by what would become of her if she doesn't fix her mess right on time. She thought Jonathan didn't care for Emily, and would not be so concerned about her leaving. Why then did he seem to care so much about her, to the extent of inquiring about her house address? “Victoria, you must do something,” she heard herself say. “You will be dragged into the mud if something is not done.”She took her seat on the chair before her computer system, turned on the device and began to type. There was a lot to be done for the day, she would rather do what she had to do than think of a way out when there were a million and one ways to sort out herself from the mess she was in, already. It was a new day and the first day of a new month when Victoria wandered into her office. The air freshener she kept at the window side stuffed her nose and a pleasant smile appeared on her face. What will the day hold for her? She wondered as she took her seat on the chair ever-living in the office. Her handbag was flung to the desk, and the system before her was turned on. There were several emails to be sent to partnering companies on this day and appointments that were left unfixed she would need to attend to.Somehow, she felt fulfilled for the first time in a long while. At least, after her master plan on Emily, the young lady was gone and gone from the company forever. Olivia walked out of the kitchen with two trays and positioned them on the table. Where was Emily?Past eight in the night and she was yet to return from the Enterprise. Such a thing rarely happened and when it did, there was a problem. She grabbed the glasses on the table and headed to the kitchen. By the time she returned, the door made a sound. “Emily?” Olivia positioned the new set of glasses on the table and walked to the door. She unlocked it from inside and when it opened, there was Emily at the entrance of the apartment. “Well, what happened to you?” There was worry in her tone. She supervised the older woman walking into the house, while she latched the door and veered around. “Emily, did something happen at work?”“Good evening, Liv,” Emily, who was exhausted, plopped down on one of the couches. “I was assisting Mark with his task. He had a lot to do at work today.”“Ohh,” Olivia sauntered past her and caught up with the dining table. “I organized something for us to eat

I feel I am not good at a task like this. It feels as though she is hiding something and doesn't want to talk to me about it.”"Damn it!" Whatever the woman had come up with this time, had better make some sense. Olivia boarded a cab and headed to the location as asked in the text message she received last night. It was better than ending her moment in the office to be there, she thought while the man on the sterling did his job. When would all of these be over? Her thoughts drifted and she sat up on the seat, clutching her handbag tight to herself. This was not the right time to bother herself with these questions. All she knows she needs in the meantime is to know why Victoria had called for another meeting. Well, she was going to know in the end. So why bother? She lifted her head to look outside the cab and rays of sunlight came off at her, reminding her of how the day had just started. Soon, the cab halted at the front of the gate. “I have arrived, ma'am.” the man who handled the journey process called the attention of Olivia who looked like she was lost in a world of her thoughts. “Thank you.” She greeted

Shit! Why did she forget to tell Olivia of the little idea that popped up in her head before leaving the office? The woman hopped in her car and heaved a sigh. It was not so hard to return to the office, take a seat and discuss with her about her plans. But on second thought, she thought back to Mr. Steele and how he was everywhere, seeking answers to the questions he asked Olivia the other day. The man was clever and wouldn't think twice before knowing that the woman lied about her answer. This way, he would pursue other ways to know and even go as far as bringing some of the other staff into the picture. It was a long day at the office, there was a need to be at home. But after many thoughts and unanswered questions, Victoria started the car engine and began her journey out of the large compound. The man who seemed like he lived at the gate, forever, opened up for her to drive out and she did, she heaved a deep sigh. There was a need to meet with Olivia as soon as possible and

Now may not be the right time to go on dates.”“You are right,” Olivia nodded as she squeezed a spoonful of the nourishment in her mouth. “He'd come around, don't think about it.”“Who says I am troubled by that?” Emily sneered. “Mr. Stone has a preference for me. The ride back to the Corporation was a peaceful one, and Victoria wasn't inclined to chip in a word. At the same time, there was Olivia who wasn't ready to speak with the older woman. A lot went on in her mind, and it was at the same time difficult to figure out. After a while of driving, they dropped anchor at the gate and the man who offered his service as a gateman did a good job by opening up to them. Ready to hop down, she asked. “What do I tell them if asked a question?”“What do you mean, Olivia?” An aggravated Victoria raised a question. “I thought I told you before now that it is not my business whatever you tell them. It was beginning to be more difficult than she reckoned it to be. Her legs led her to her desk and she put up with the chair next to the table. Now she desired to be Emily for the whole week.
