~~Stephanie
"How dare he come here?!?!?!?" I screamed as Shawn sat on the arm rest of the couch. He didn't answer. It was just silence.
A silence so deafening I could only hear my heart beat and his. I let my wolf hearing attach to Adaline as she was in her room taking a nap.
"Steph...he is your true mate. This was going to happen sooner or later." Shawn broke the silence.
I jumped at the sound of his voice as my hand trailed my neck to Jackson's mark. I sighed knowing what had to happen.
"I can't just let him back in. He broke me. I can't let him do this to me or Adds again." I sniffled.
"My sweet love...." Shawn whispered. "I can never compare to him and I love you but we both knew this might happen. Especially if I ever meet my natural second chance mate."
His words went straight through my heart. I let the tears fall down my cheeks. I didn't want to be alone again. This is not how I pictured my life. I would be alone yet again and then Adds would find her mate and then what would I do?
Ok yeah, I'm going overboard because she definitely has a long time before that happens.
A knock at my front door broke my train of thought. Shawn was the one to answer the door because I just didn't even want to move at that point.
"Babe. Its Damion." Shawn said kissing my forehead and walking by me to the kitchen.
Probably to grab some beers.
And yes before you ask. Yes, that Damion from high school. After Jackson left, Damion became my support until Shawn. Damion and my bff Jess lived with me during the first few months of Adaline being born.
"Hey sis..." Damion whispered.
"Hey bubba. Your bestie is back in town." I said rolling my eyes.
He huffed, "Yeah. It's why I'm here. He asked me to be his Beta again."
I sighed as Shawn walked back through into the living room handing us each a beer. I smiled and kissed him on the cheek.
"What was your answer?" I asked.
"I told him I would talk to Jess about it." He shrugged in indifference.
"UNCLE DDDDDDDDD!" Adaline screeched running down the stairs...well tumbling. Shes not the most graceful child and that's definitely my fault.
"HEY BOOGER!!" Damion yelled scooping her in a hug.
"He also wants to see you the both of you." Damion said wincing just waiting on my answer.
I barked out a laugh. "You are fucking with me right?"
"BAD WOOOORDDDD!!!!" Adaline screamed covering her ears.
"Babe. I will take her." Shawn said.
"No. You are as much a part of this as I am Shawn." I said staring at him.
"Adds. Go play upstairs. We will be up in a little minute when it's time for snack." I told her as she climbed the stairs.
When she was out of earshot I turned my attention back to Damion.
"That asswipe can kiss my ass if hes going to start ordering me around." I yelled.
Shawn laughed and Damion smirked.
"I'm just the messenger sis." He said raising his hands in innocence.
I look at Shawn waiting on him to answer. He had been super quiet and I needed his input.
"Babe. Say something." I whispered to him as he looked up at me. He game me one of his infamous smirks.
"I think you owe it to yourself and to Adds to go. If you don't he just going to end up throwing out an Alpha order or 2 to get you to see him. Might as well be now and not later." He stated honestly.
"Why are you always the levelheaded one in this relationship?" I asked, "I wanna beat his ass."
Damion and Shawn started laughing.
"Buttholes." I muttered.
"Gimme a second to tell him sis." Damion said.
"No tell him exactly this. Stephanie has accepted your request Alpha Jackson. He's going to hate it especially coming from me." I said.
Shawn laughed.
I had told him everything about Jackson. That I only called him Jackson when I was pissed at him or he really screwed up. And if I had wanted to really piss him off I would call him Alpha Jackson. Most of the time with a curtsy thrown in there.
I ran upstairs to get ready. Whenever your Alpha calls upon you, you at least need to looks presentable. I threw on a dark blue maxi dress with sunflowers on it. My hair in a long braid that I put to the side and I strapped on my yellow wedges.
"Mommy look pwetty!!!" Adaline exclaimed. She was already dressed in little pink dress.
"Thanks babe." I said winking at the little girl in my arms.
~~~Jackson
I just sent Damion to get Stephanie. When Damion said she agreed, it kind of surprised me. And then she called me Alpha Jackson.
That girl only called me that to piss me off. But I know why she did and I can't blame her. If I had known half the shit I do now I would have never left.
When I walked in the front doors of my house, my Mom was there to greet me at the door. No hello no greeting or hug of any type.
I only had one question for her.
"Who is Adaline?" I growled.
She looked so surprised. Her face broke and she started crying. She had this whole sob story of how Stephanie became pregnant after our night together in the cabin. They kept it hidden from me because they thought I deserved better. The night Stephanie was having our daughter? My parents told me she was probably cheating on me and that's why I was in pain. I had heard rumors while I was in school about her being with basically the entire pack after I left, and I believed some. I was so hurt and I blindly believed my parents.
Knowing what I do now that my parents lied to me to get me to be with Candace so that our pups would be stronger and having Beta and Alpha blood running through their veins disgusted me.
I needed to talk to my Wildflower. To get her to understand my side. I was a broken man without her and had been since the night of her turning.
Deep in thought her smell broke through my thoughts of what I needed to do. Wildflowers and w*rm weather. That smell w*s the thing I missed the most. I stayed in my spot for a moment. I kept sniffing the air. Something else smelled like wildflower and rain. That w* Adaline. She smelled like each of us put together. Damnit. I had a little girl.
I broke my train of thought and left my office to start walking down the stairs. She was standing by the front door and her eyes followed me but there was no smile on her face. I wanted to grab her and tell her everything but that's when I saw him. The man from the garden. He was standing next to her protecting her. Where I should be.
"Jax." She whispered.
I straightened up as she whispered my nickname. No one was allowed to call me that except for her. It was her nickname to me and no one else's. Like I said she never uses my full name. Shes only used my full name twice. Once when we had a huge fight and again on the night my parents pulled us apart. Well 3 times now when she had Damion mindlink me earlier.
"Wildflower." I whispered to her. The man standing beside her stiffened. I stared at him. Who the hell is he to her?
"What do you want?" She asked indifferently. Her eyes scanning mine for an answer.
My wolf, Sam, howled in the background. Our mate was here and she was even more beautiful then we remembered.
"My mom told me what my dad and her did. I had no clue..." I trailed off because my mind was on her scent again. "Who do you smell like??" I growled.
The man beside my wildflower smirked and I growled stepping up to him.
"Whoa dickmunch. This is Shawn. Hes my boyfriend. He's been here the whole time for me and here for me as I get summoned here by the oh so great Alpha." Stephanie exclaimed as she stood in front of me pushing her pointer finger into my chest.
Damion snickered at the nickname behind Stephanie.
I finally looked up at Damion and he was holding my daughter.
I caught my breath. She had Stephanie's eyes and everything else was....me. Adaline was my little girl.
"Who are you?" Adaline asked slowly.
"This is Alpha Jackson." Stephanie stated.
Shawn grabbed Stephanie's arm and I just stared at him.
"She needs to know babe." Shawn whispered and Stephanie eyes were sprouting tears already.
"Adds.......hunny. Remember the pictures in mommy's book upstairs of Uncle Damion, Aunt Jess, mommy, and your daddy?" Steph asked the little girl and the little girl nodded. "This is him. This is your daddy." Steph said taking her from Damion and closer to me.
I crouched down to her level.
"Hey beauitful." I whispered smiling at her.
She stared at me like she was studying me and then finally said, "Hey daddy."
Her hug made me almost fall backwards. I laughed at her as she us squeezed and then she ran back to Damion.
"You guys have alot to talk about. I will take her back home. Call me if you need me." Shawn broke the silence. Stephanie looked up at him with a small smile. He kissed her forehead and I had to look away. It made me sick that someone else had touched her.
"Bye daddy!" Adaline yelled.
I waved not knowing what to say or do. It terrified me to know that I did have a daughter. After a few minutes of stressing to get Adaline in bed at a decent hour from Stephanie to Shawn, everyone left until it was only my wildflower and I in the room.
She finally sighed and turned to look at me.
This was going to be a long night.
~~Stephanie"Want a beer?" He asked me. His deep voice shot tingles up my spine. All I could do is nod. I was so afraid to speak. I felt glued to the floor."Wildflower. Its ok. We are just talking." Jackson whispered."How can you be ok with this? After all this time?" I asked, my voice cracking."Its not ok. I'm not ok. I haven't been ok in years. The last time I know I was ok was your 18th birthday in that fucking cabin." Jacksons voice steadily got louder. "I have been fighting Chase since I got back. Hes been pleading with me to jus to take you home with me and force you to stay in the house and to never let you out of my sight." By the end he was growling."Let me talk to him." I softly cried. He looked surprised by my command.He sighed and grabbed my hand, he looked up at me and his eyes were completely black."Hey Chase. Long time no see." I trailed my finger down his cheek."My mate. I have missed you. I stopped talking to Jackson. He hurt you. You are mine. I am yours. No o
~~Stephanie I opened up the beers and grabbed 2 more and walked outside. All I wanted to do was get to know him all over again. We would take this at a snail's pace. My snail. Not his snail. We sat down on the porch swing overlooking the backyard. Lightning bugs filled the backyard and the stars illuminated just enough to see each other. His arm slung around the back of the swing as it creaked along with our swings. I loved sitting out here. It made me feel at peace and calm. Especially after a long day at work or if I ever needed the quiet. "Do you wanna talk about anything in particular?" He asked softly looking at me at the corner of his eye. "I am kind of afraid of the answers. I want to know everything. Why you never came back, why you never called, why you never came back for Adds, literally everything." I answered. He sighed and nodded. A few minutes ticked by. I knew he was getting his thoughts in order and I let him be. This wasn't going to be easy and my big mouth wasn
~~StephanieMy heart pounded as I screamed as someone kept pounding on my safe room door. I had no clue who they were and I didn't recognize their scent. They kept screaming that I need to let them. That they needed to see the new Luna. I'm not the Luna. Jackson's mom is still the Luna. Jackson and I aren't even together. Barely talking in all honesty.If this is what being a Luna is, you can count me out. Adaline would get hurt. I look at Adaline and she is kicking back at the door telling the person on the other side of the door to go away. This girl is her father through and through.All of a sudden there was silence followed by two huge crashes. I hear glass breaking and growling. Jackson is here. I could smell him. I could smell blood too. I knew it wasn't his because I would have felt him get hurt. I just felt anger from his side. Chance was there....I knew it was him the way he growled and walked through the house. A knock came to the door as we both screamed again."Jackson?
~~StephanieToday at school dragged on. No one would listen and all my classes were full of rambunctious students that couldn't get over the attack last night.They were going crazy with questions and some even stared at me with a weird look in their eye. One of my students in the back called me Luna and I shushed them before anyone else could hear it. Or maybe no one heard it because no one was listening. It was one of the royal guards' kids. Iknew it wasn't their fault and people wanted answers but I was not ready yet at all. Especially since in the back of my mind I was still harboring doubts.I didn't want him to introduce me to the pack and him leave me again. Am I really afraid of that happening again? I can't let Adaline get hurt. She gets attached so easily because of her age and no one has ever hurt her little heart and I would never let anyone do such a thing. She is my main priority no matter what.I headed to her daycare that was on the 1st level of the school on the side
~~Stephanie The day lagged on. Math tests were passed out, English pop quizzes were taken, homework was doled out and it was just now 303 PM. I was headed down to get Adaline and then head to the supermarket to grab dinner for tonight. Eggplant Parmesan is an all time favorite of ours and the meal we ate on our first date to the local Italian restaurant in the human town not far from here. Adaline was tired from her day so hopefully she would sleep in the cart at the super market. I'm headed to the grocery store. I'm grabbing dinner. Do you need anything special? I mind-linked Jackson. No answer. I tried again but he blocked everything. Ugh that man. What could he be doing anyway? Maybe he's with the rogues and doesn't want me to hear whats going on in the background. I shuddered to think of what could be happening. As I walked in the grocery store I couldn't help but feel like I was being watched....I glanced around like I was looking at the spaghetti sauce when I realized there
Oh high school.It's the end of my senior year.A week before graduation.I turn 18 in 3 days which means I can shift for the first time.College isn't far off either. I can't wait to start my classes in the fall. I get to start college with my best friends and my boyfriend. Jackson.Jax.His name even brings tingles to my skin.Jackson Scarpinzi. I have known him since we were in kindergarten. I met him because he stole my blue crayon and I needed it for my picture of a field of flowers. He wouldn't give it back so I tackled him to the ground. It's also the day he asked me to be his girlfriend.So yeah...... Jackson is my everything. He is my best friend and the love of my life. The kind of love that you get butterflies every second when you are near them. When you are intoxicated with every single thing they do. His blonde hair perfectly frames his face. He usually has it slicked back but every once in a while his short curls come through. His jawline is like ice and his eyes are a
No answers were given.He didn't show up. His parents didn't show up.My parents knew something was up because the Luna and Alpha are always there at a shifting. It was 11:59 pm and I was sobbing on the hill behind my house. I sent everyone away except for Jessica and my parents.The pack doctor trying to get me to calm down. My heart felt like it was ripping in half.What did I do wrong? Why didn't he come? He promised.That's when I felt it. The cracking in my spine. I felt like someone had broken my spine. I screamed in pain as my whole body was on fire. Every muscle and tendon ripping away and forming something completely new. My bones reforming after splintering and breaking.In an instant I was down on all fours. I looked up and both my parents were about 20 feet away from me. My wolf was a dark chocolate brown. My parents cried in happiness. I turned to see that Jessica had shifted.I yipped with joy and we were free. We took off running just enjoying the new found freedom we b
StephanieI wiped my forehead off. I was sweating bullets while I worked in my garden. It was early spring as I started working on my vegetable garden. I had already taken care of all my herbs and all of my flowers out front. I added new flowers every year and this was the first year that Adaline was able to help. She was digging tiny holes and putting a couple of seeds in each as I had taught her.A sudden earth shattering sound came from our main square. Church bells. How many times it rang is what the bells were letting us know. I stood there counting, a total of 16 times they rang.It could only mean one thing. Our Alpha has passed away.I shuddered remembering a small out break of another smaller pack trying to attack about a week ago. Word passed very quickly of our Alpha passing from the attack. I sighed knowing Jackson would be hurting. That also means Jackson would be coming to town or was already in town.I stood in the garden wiping my face with my blue tank top flashing of
