VALERIA
Pain. Anxiety. Terror.
It seeped through my veins. I cried out in my subconscious mind, but I have no idea what is going on.
"Wake up bitch!"
Jerking up as I was awoken by a slosh of cold water. My heartbeat hastened, gasping, my eyes fluttered open as the water cascaded down my hair, drenching my shirt, revealing my lacey bra.
Confusion washed over me, I tried to catch my breath. Bound to a steel table, surrounded by darkness, my sight blurred. I struggled to move, but my hands were tied.
In the abandoned manor, I realised I'm not alone.
"Argh!"
"It worked tremendously,"
Lifting my head, I heard a dry laugh close to me, certain that the voice I heard was familiar.
My throat tightened at the sight of Emilia, my stepsister, walking and squatting in front of me, holding up a bottle to my face.
"Emilia," my voice weak. "What's going on?"
Smirking, she dangled the bottle, touching the tip of my nose before allowing it to fall on the floor, slicing my lap causing me to bleed.
I remembered that bottle, and I remembered Emilia forcing me to gulp down the contents of the bottle.
I insisted, but she claimed she was just helping me since I was still recovering from the illness I had. I had reluctantly drank from the bottle, unaware that reality was on its way.
Sensing that something was wrong when I felt an odd kick in my 34-week-old stomach and water streaming down my legs. Shiver ran down my spine as my legs wobbled at the realisation that my water had just broken.
Lowering my head, "My baby," I whispered.
Tears stung my eyes as they cascaded down my jaw. "Why are you doing this to me?" My voice rose above a whisper as my hair fell over my face.
Tears streamed down my face when I saw my clothes stained with blood.
What have I done?
"You should have known!" Emilia chuckled dryly, tracing her fingers from my chest down to my stomach.
"You thought I would wait for you to get due before I get that thing out of you! Huh?"
My sight blurry as another wave of panic hit me. Pushing me to the floor, my feets are wide apart with my knees bent. I see nothing, I feel something surging through my veins.
She dragged me by the hair, blabbering words that I couldn't hear, then pushed me away.
"Ahhh!" I groaned, clutching my stomach. "Emilia...please help. My stomach... I feel my baby is coming, and now isn't the right time."
My dim green eyes, now glassy and desperate as my skin grew pale, the relentless movement of contraception made my bulging stomach contract, and every surge of excruciating pain made me grumble and scream.
"The baby's coming,"
Her lips twisted into a malicious giggle, and her eyes were gloomy with envy. Driven by an insatiable desire to have something for the Alpha.
Emilia's sneer evolved into a nasty giggle as she peeled off my pants, throwing them across the room.
Without any medical skills, "Push!" she ordered as my contraception hit harder and more excruciatingly this time.
Subconsciously, placing my hand on hers. My eyes rolled back in my head. "Please take me to a doctor. My baby isn't due yet." I cried out.
"Shut the hell up and push along with your contraception before I put my entire arm into you and pull the child out!" Emilia warned me, glaring as she spread my legs further apart.
I shut my eyes tight, trying to bear the pain but my agonising screams echoed all through the manor.
"Push! Push harder!!" Emilia ordered me as she slapped my ass for the fifth time.
"Ahhhh!"
With every push I made, hot tears streamed down my face as I grasped the material of my dress.
Feeling something huge coming out of me. I took a deep breath, aching my ass as I pushed my hardest.
I sighed deeply as the delicate cries of a baby finally echoed throughout the manor after my last push. Staring at my little bundle of joy in Emilia's arms, my heart raced as I felt happiness and love for my baby.
"She's a girl," Emilia whispered, probably to herself because she didn't say it to my ears.
I watched as Emilia rubbed my baby's face, pushing her blonde hair away from her face. The weak smile on my face disappeared when she began to walk away with my baby.
My heart pounded in my chest as I watched Emilia walk away. "Please, don't take away the only joy I have from me," Whispered, as my voice failed me.
Without giving ears to my pleas, Emilia kept walking away.
"Please, give her to me."
I lunged towards Emilia, stretching out my hands, desperate to take my daughter back.
Tilting her head, "You must be very stupid! How dare you place your filthy hands on me?" She flared up, gritting her teeth.
"Get out of my way and remain quiet! If you say a word about whatever happened here," Lowering her eyes to my baby. "She gets to suffer it!"
Shoving me away, I landed on the floor, my skin bruised and ached. The sound of my baby's cries filled the room.
"Ahhhhh!" My petrified scream echoed through the house.
My heart tightened and shattered as I felt another wave of tears well up in my eyes. Emilia's devious laughter echoed and I heard the door of a car close and zoom off.
She was leaving me in this isolated place to die after she'd gotten what she wanted—my child.
Abandoned on the chilly, hard floor, bound and drained. My heart bled heavily, and my body felt sore.
The little strength in me had faded away as my sight and thoughts became dark. My eyes began to flutter subconsciously, my knee buckled as my mere body couldn't bear the assault. Crumbling to the rough marble floor, unable to save myself or my child. I lay lifeless on my blood—the blood of my child—as I slipped into an unconscious state.
VALERIA [Flash back] My name is Valeria Hoover, most of my close friends call me Val. I'm the illegitimate daughter of Beta Sam and an Omega of the lowest rank in The Enchanted Shadows pack. My job is to clean and scrub. My father, who feels disgusted by my sight even though I have his blood flowing through my veins. The hatred he bore for me increased a thousandfold when he married Camilla. She made things worse for me. I had no idea who my biological mother was, and when I tried to find her, there was no trace of her existence. When I tried to ask my father about her, I faced cruel insults and brutal beatings, which eventually led to the assault. "Your mother was a slut! She never stayed indoors at night. You should take over her now," Camilla rang in my ears, causing me to cringe. She hated me and couldn't stand the sight of me... she saw me as a worthless piece of trash. She would always remind me how low of an omega I am and how I deserve nothing good in
VALERIA Stepping away from the bustling kitchen, I walked into my little space in the corner of the kitchen. Changed from a haggard-looking dress to a hoodie, jeans, and an overall coat, adjusted my feet into the sneakers and picked up a basket, hurriedly I hopped out of the kitchen. Inhaling deeply, slipping a sharp pocket knife and small torch into my coat, stepping into the woods as the cold evening wind washed over me. Whispering to myself, "Reveal yourself to me, little mushrooms... where are you?" Talking to myself was a habit I formed over the years of being alone with myself. Twigs broke beneath my worn-out sneakers as the smell of damp earth and twitching leaves filled my nostrils. Scanning through the woodland floor, looking from one moss-covered tree trunk to the next. Mumbling, "It should have an orange-tinge cap with white spots." I traced the patterns on the mushroom. My voice firm but faint, "I can't forget the curry leaves and the thyme. Oh, and if I
VALERIA I stirred in my sleep, yawning, I rubbed my palm against my eyes, turning over to my side, my eyes fell on the man laying beside me. Squinting my brows, I gazed in shock. "Argh!" I screamed in shock as my hands immediately flew to my mouth. My eyes crinkled in adoration, "He looks more handsome during the daytime." I adjusted on the floor to get a better view of him. I had sex with this man last night, I didn't regret it, and I had no idea why. Lost in my fantasies, my eyes landed on the basket I carried along with me yesterday. I jerk back hastily. I stood up, pacing around the hut, remembering that everyone would be awaiting me. Miss Sophie really needed those mushrooms. Quickly, I ran around the hut, picking up my clothes from every corner of the hut and putting them on as fast as I could. I was just about to put on my coat when my eyes fell on him again, realising he was still naked. Walking over to him, I spread it over him. I fixed my feet into the sni
NICKOLAS Stirring in my slumber, my eyes fluttered open. Holding my hands to the floor, I grimaced as I sat up. Staring down at myself, I shuddered. "What the heck!" I cursed, pulling the coat away from my body, just to see that I was naked. A throbbing headache hit me as everything began to spin. I shut my eyes tightly, grasping my head. I stood up and looked around the hut. My clothes were laid, my arm hurt as I picked them up. A pheromone hit my nostrils, it smelled so strong, driving me nuts. Groaning, I clutched and stared at my arm. Surprised to see a wound, suddenly, I felt a pull on my head, grasping tightly, images flashed directly in front of my eyes—images from last night. Settling scores with The Wintercrest pack after the clash they had with my pack, The Enchanted Shadows. It took three years, then we came to an agreement. Returning back, I had no idea that all was in vain and some assassins were sent to go after me. I recognise them by their claws. While
VALERIA Gesturing my finger at myself, wondering why she didn't ask Ruby, Eleanor or Maya to serve Alpha Nickolas. "Is something wrong?" Miss Sophie asked, and I shook my head. "It's an opportunity to serve Alpha Nickolas, and I trust you can do this." "Oh, Eve, where are you?" I cried out within me, looking around and then at the door, hoping that she would walk in. Sluggishly, I walked over to where Miss Sophie was serving the food. "Take this and serve," pointing at the tray. Patting my hair, "I know why you're scared... just ignore them and do your job. Okay? That way, you would make them believe that you are now a great lady." Miss Sophie consoled me as I nibbled on my lower lip. Placing the recipes prepared into the trolley, including the mushroom soup prepared for Alpha Nickolas. Pushing the trolley out of the kitchen as I headed to the banquet hall. 'You can do this!' Getting to the entrance, I signalled the guards who were on standby, nodding their heads, and t
NICKOLASSitting in my office, I fiddled with the necklace, staring at it and wondering who it belonged to. Rubbing on the pendant, my thoughts slipped to the girl who served me last night. Her pheromone kept on lingering in my head. She looked pale last night, I have never met her before but she had the same pheromone with that on the coat.I had no idea what was going on. She didn't say anything but Emilia claimed to be the one who saved me.I don't believe her, I don't know why.I stand up and walk over to the door, "Get me a bottle of Vodka," "Yes sir." Remus, a guard responded as he walked away.Slumping back on the chair, I raise the necklace to my face, staring at the initials wondering what decision to make.I felt something more than just being treated happened last night, Emilia isn't saying anything about it.Late night, I had a dream where I had sex with a lady. I thought it was just a dream at first but it was still in that hut and the same pheromone. It felt so real.Th
NICKOLAS I thought Sam wouldn't do as I told him, it would have given me more proof that he wanted me to take in Emilia.I needed to be sure before taking any steps. I never expected my life would take this turn. I never planned for all of these to happen, but they keep happening. Things end up not going well for me. All these years, I've tried my best to control every clan in the pack without having the aim of taking a mate.I guess I'm stuck now.Strolling through the hallway, I could hear the arguments of the girls outside the courtyard. I knew that they were all drooling over me.Every girl in the pack wants to have me as their man.Looking up, I saw Ragnor walking up to me, and it meant everything was ready. Taking a deep breath, I had no idea how to calm down and how nervous I was."Are they ready?" Ragnor crossed his arms around his torso, looking straight. He wants me to tell him that I have given up, but there's no way I can do that because my life now depends
Emilia felt a sense of achievement as she drove to her parent's house. She had managed to manipulate Alpha Nickolas and fulfilled her dreams of getting married to him. Still stunned at her confidence out there, even when the girls were gossiping about her. She was surprised that she didn't react to them because she was short-tempered.Stepping on the brakes, she packed her car at the garage. Emilia was welcomed by the sight of Sam and Camilla as she strode to the entrance, their faces beaming with joy.Her lips curled into a smile as Camilla held up her hands for her."My daughter," Camilla praised as she pulled Emilia in for an embrace."You put him in a tight corner out there. You know that right?" Sam shoved his hands into his pockets, chuckling.Pinching Emilia's cheeks, "I'm so proud of you. You are truly the daughter of Camilla Hoover. She gets anything she wants."Emilia's face turned crimson at the sight of her parents happy... There was nothing she wanted o
Camilla pushed some chairs out of her way as she rushed to Sam. Her eyes fell on Sam, sipping wine as he scrolled through his phone. Her ears flared up. "Sam, what's going on? Why aren't you saying anything? Why are you quiet, like we are not part of the family?" Camilla rested one hand on her waist and the other on her forehead. Sam didn't say a word; he didn't even look up at her. He remained engrossed in his phone with no atom of emotion written on his face. "You sat there while that stupid girl humiliated me and our daughter. You watched her slap me, and you did nothing about it." Camilla kept on ranting. That was all she could do. She couldn't fathom the fact that Sam remained quiet and wasn't saying anything. Or was he part of everything that had been going on? She had doubts about it but hoped it wouldn't be true. Sam adjusted his glass, turned off his phone, and placed it beside him on the couch. He looked up at Camilla and crossed his legs. "Camilla, y
