Chapter 16: Failed Surgery

My brows furrowed across each other, staring confusedly at Samuel.

Not breathing?! Impossible.

Just when I gathered myself to rise back up, Samuel had hastily turned to me, his right hand locked onto my neck.

He forcibly made my knees straighten up as I stood up, having difficulties breathing because of his tight grip on my neck.

“I should have seen this coming. You’re not up for anything good!”

I helplessly tapped on his wrist, unable to utter a word. But those were useless as his grip only tightened, his teeth gritting in anger.

My eyes shifted to where Caleb was.

A quick rush of guilt spread across me watching Carter sob as he tried to wake his brother up.

Did I really fail? And Caleb’s dead?
