"Oh, okay…"

Angeline gripped the steering wheel.

"Sorry to bother you. I'm hanging up."

But before Angeline could end the call, Sean asked, "Why are you calling me with Lucy's phone?"

"I left my phone at home," Angeline answered.

"It's fine. I'm heading back now."

"Are you alone?"

Sean's eyebrows furrowed. He recalled Angeline had a lot to drink at the restaurant earlier that day.

Before Angeline could answer, Sean continued, "I won't be home tonight. You can spend the night in the manor."

"It's fine. Don't bother."

Angeline sounded hoarse.

"I'm hanging up now."

She returned the phone and thanked Lucy after hanging up. She drove out of the neighborhood and stopped by the side of the road.

She noticed a lit convenience store with a poster stating, "Facial recognition payment system available". So Angeline exited the car and bought a bottle of cold water.
