Today was going to be the happiest day of my life, because despite all the opposition, the rejections of my parents, and all the trials I'd passed through, I was finally going to tie the knot with the only man that my heart had ever beat for.
I and Dian Angelo was finally going to be together, and I just wanted to scream for the whole world to know how happy I was.
My parents were not in support and had cut me off, so it was going to be a small ceremony at a small chapel with only our close friends in attendance, but it couldn't be more perfect. I only wanted Dian. He was my soulmate.
Kushi stepped into the room, a wide smile on her face and a bottle of champagne. I raised a brow, my gaze pointedly on the bottle in her hand. Kushi scoffed, waving the bottle wildly.
"This is for the after-party girl, no need to give me that look. Anyways, you look freaking gorgeous. Dian is such a lucky guy, I swear" she gushed, moving towards me, an appraising look in her eyes as she took my hand and made me do a spin.
I giggled happily. "Enough of that, and we really need to get going, I do not want to be late for my own wedding. I do not want to keep Dian waiting".
Kushi smirked. "Gosh, love. Such a beautiful feeling, but you are right. We need to get going ASAP, wouldn't want the priest having a fit cause the bride didn't show up" she got out with an exaggerated eye roll.
"No need to be so dramatic".
"Girl with all the stress we've gone through this week, we do need a lot of drama. I'm so exhausted, but I'm sure you have it worse bebe" she said patting my hair gently.
I grabbed her hand and placed it against my cheek. "I'm perfectly ok, Kushi, and I want to Thank you for staying by my side... I don't know what I'd have done without you".
"Aww" she gushed then pulled me into her arms, her arms wrapping tightly around me. "I love you too best friend" she choked out then pulled back, her gaze widening when she stared at me. "Hey! Don't you dare cry Sybil Eagan, you're not going to ruin four hour worth of makeup just at the last minute, blink it back, blink it!"
I laughed, forcing the tears that had been gathering back. "You freaking suck at giving advice you know that right. If I blink it's definitely going to fall" I joked and Kushi made to reply when the doorbell rang.
Kushi's brows shot up as she met my gaze. "Did you order room service?"
I shook my head, and kushi sighed before stepping past me. "I'll go check it out" she murmured more to herself than to me.
I sat back on the bed, my heart rate spiking as I waited for her. Her audible gasp reached my ear and I shot up from the bed as she reentered the room with my mother behind her. What was she doing here? She'd not spoken to me for six months, so why now?
Her sneer of disdain was the first thing that greeted me as she took in my appearance.
"I can not believe you are pushing through with this madness. How can you do this to your own family. You're going to give everything up for a man that is not worth half your existence".
I clenched my fist. "I love Dian. There is nothing that is going to change my mind from marrying him, and he might be worthless to you, but he is worth more than all the stars in the sky to me".
Her palm struck my cheek. It caught me off guard because I hadn't expected her to hit me. Kushi quickly ran to my aid.
"Mrs. Eagan... You can't hit... "
"Shut your mouth kushi! I should have never let you be friends with my daughter. You clearly influenced her to make such a reckless decision" she got out haughtily before leveling her gaze back on me. "This is your last chance, Sybil. Dian is no good for you. He's a monster just like his father. You're going to get your heart broken, and I'm sure he's not going to be with you now that we've cut you off".
"He was never with me for the money, because he has his own" I yelled finally snapping.
"And I know that" she snapped right back."But he's definitely not with you because of love ok. It's because you are part of our family. He might not need our fortune now but he will have access to it once you are married"
I shook my head. "There is nothing that you and father do or say that will ever make me leave him. You both never cared about me, you treated me as if I was someone you picked off the street. You're only doing this because you want me to marry Damien, all because of his wealth and what he can do for your company. Get away from here. I don't want you freaking near me" I screamed, the tears slipping down my eyes.
"You are going to regret this Sybil. I told you so. Dian doesn't love you for you" she said then smirked. "No one would ever love you for you, and you know that. Don't come crawling back to us when everything we warned you about happens".
"It won't! Get out of my life" I shouted, and her bodyguards rushed into the room because of the volume I'd used.
My mom gave them a reassuring smile, stared at me for one long moment, then walked out of the room.
I wanted to scream, I wanted to tear something apart, but I just stood there seething. She'd almost managed to ruin the happiest day of my life.
"We are already five minutes late Sybil, We need to go now" kushi voice crashed through the roaring in my ears and the softness of her palm gliding over mine brought me back to earth. She gave me a sympathetic smile as I turned to face her. I nodded, wiping at my tears, my eyeliner smudging in the process. Great, now I had to get rid of everything.
**********
We made it just in time because once we got out of the car, the piano was already playing.
Kushi smiled and linked her arms to mine.
"Are you ready to finally become Mrs. Sybil Dian Angelo"?
"Absolutely. Can't wait"I smiled back. Kushi grinned then gave a soft tug Forward.
"Let's not keep Dian waiting then". I nodded in agreement, my stomach fluttering with nerves as we stepped into the beautifully decorated chapel.
My heart drummed against my ribs, my palm sweaty. This was it, I was going to finally be with the love of my life. We'd planned everything we were going to do after the wedding and I was ecstatically waiting for it. The guest turned to face us once they heard our footsteps and the smile on my lips slowly drained as I took in the faces of the men and women staring at me with puzzled looks on their faces.
There were too many guests and not one familiar face among them. Kushi also paused by my side as the people also stared at us strangely.
Feeling like I was suddenly in a nightmare, I looked at the alter, hoping that it was a surprise by Dian and that the guest was from his side but it was not Dian that stood there. It was a man I'd never seen in my life.
Was I in the wrong chapel? No, there was a familiar face rushing towards me agitatedly. Father Chris. I was definitely in the right chapel.
There was a ringing in my ear as he spoke, then he thrust a paper into my hand and called for someone to escort us out of the building.
Kushi was yelling something but I couldn't hear her. The sound of my beating heart drowned out all the noises around me. My finger shook as I tore open the letter the priest had given to me. The ring I'd gotten Dian for the wedding fell away and I took out the only thing Dian had left, a piece of paper. His beautiful handwriting had tears blurring my vision.
It contained only seven words; The wedding is off, you lying whore.
I read the words again, the tears dropping from my eyes ruining the paper.
I gazed around at the pitying faces of the guest for the wedding I'd crashed. This was supposed to be my wedding. Dian should have been waiting for me.
Someone was trying to move me out of the way, and I turned to see that the bride for the particular wedding was coming in.
Dian had left me, without a proper goodbye, without a reason except for a stupid seven worded letter that made me question my sanity.
Kushi was yelling my name and shaking me, but I was numb to all sensations... Cameras started to flash in my face, and I noticed that some reporters had gotten into the building.
My heart stuttered in my chest, and breathing became painful, then everything stopped, and I was floating in darkness.
DIAN ANGELO POV The guest were starting to arrive and so were some of the reporters. The hall was immaculate and the decor was amazing, and I was sure Sybil was going to love it. It had been a struggle not to call her when all I wanted to do was to hear her voice as soon as I woke up. My gaze roamed around the audience as Lucas walked toward me, grinning from ear to ear. "This place is amazing man!" He exclaimed, looking around in awe. "You went all out for this wedding, so I'm sure Sybil going to fall harder for you" I grinned. "I hope so. How do I look, do I look good" "Hey, my team took care of you, there is no way for you to look bad after that" he bragged, then glanced around. "I don't see Zach or Kushi around, does that mean Sybil is not here yet? The wedding starts in an hour right" Lucas said, glancing back at me. The thought had crossed my mind, but there was still time so there was no need to panic. "You don't think she's getting cold feet do you?" I asked and Lucas m
DIAN POVIt was our wedding day and my heart felt like it was going to rip out of my chest with how nervous I was.Sybil and I were finally going to be together, legally and forever, and as I took in the beautiful sunrise and the breeze that blew over the flowers in my garden, I knew it was going to be an awesome day.Turning from the window, I shut the curtains, then proceeded to get ready for my big day.I could hear my other family members that had come to attend the wedding moving around the house, and it brought back nostalgic feelings. It felt really nice to have their support, and that too after years of not keeping in contact with any of them. The door to the bathroom flew open and I whirled to face Lucas who had a wild grin on his face. "My man!" He exclaimed, then pulled me into a hug, before he let go, then proceeded to look me over. "You look good, man""I try" I grinned, then frowned. "But you said you had like a big investigation and wouldn't be able to make it to the w
SYBIL EAGAN POVWe won the trial and the feeling was surreal.I knew Father had thought he was going to win because he was friends with the judge, and when he hadn't, the look of utter horror on his face had been fucking priceless.Still, winning the trial hadn't been an easy feat but through the cooperation of Mother and her confessions, they were able to arrest the henchman that had killed Kehlani, the doctor that prescribed the wrong drugs to mess with my head, and also uncover documents showing just how far they had gone just to be where they were. They both were proven guilty of murder, attempted murder, abduction, and other numerous crimes that cropped up all through the duration of the trial. Both of them were sentenced to life imprisonment but Mother was given the possibility of parole for confessing and aiding their investigations, but she could only apply after serving thirty years of her sentence. The whole thing left me with mixed emotions, and I was only able to endure be
SYBIL EAGAN POV A MONTH LATER******"Welcome home" we chorused once Dian stepped into the house, the confetti stick in our hands going off and Popping loudly, making us flinch and then burst out laughing.Dian joined in, his gaze roaming around the room in awe as he took in the decorations. He'd spent weeks recuperating in the hospital until he was fully able to walk on his own and now he was back home, perfectly healed and healthy. His aunt that had traveled to come to see him rushed to hug him, and Dian's eyes widened when he saw her. The hug lasted for some seconds before he let go."Oh my beautiful boy," she said looking him over. "I am so glad you are ok. You look so much better than the picture on the news... I was so worried Dian""I am doing ok Aunty. I am so glad you are here" he said, his eyes filling up, and they hugged again. Kushi and Rohan welcomed him next, then Zach, and then me."We're so happy you're back man, you scared the crap out of us. I really thought you w
SYBIL EAGAN POVI had thought mother would put up more of a fight, but that didn't seem to be the case, instead, it was father who was fighting tooth and nail to exonerate himself. But I was sure he knew that he was fighting a losing battle especially after the hitman confessed that it was Eagan who paid him to kill Dian. The date for the trial had already been fixed and was going to take place soon. In the meantime, they were being held in detention. They were going to have a hearing in a few hours to determine if they would be granted bail or not, and I hoped to God that they weren't, because I knew if they were released, they'd have more time to scheme their way out of the whole situation and I couldn't have that. But judging from the uproar the clip had caused and the sudden surge of other victims coming forward to accuse them of heinous crimes, I was sure they preferred to stay in detention than out there, facing the angry population. Mother had requested to talk to me and I kn
****It was all over. The guards had managed to get Rose out of the hospital back to the house but she knew that it was only a matter of time before the cops came for them. The clip had gone viral despite all her effort to contain it and she was sure that everyone probably hated them, and were already speculating on the list of crimes they might have committed. It was all Eagan's fault. If he'd just done what she'd asked of him, they wouldn't have been in this mess. The bastard he'd sent to kill Dian hadn't even been able to get away and he was already in custody. Rose knew that there was no way he was going to keep his mouth shut, especially once the news spread that they were going to be investigated for a murder case and also the abduction of Sybil because she was sure they would be, soon. And Dian was still fucking alive. Rose dragged my hand through her hair, then inhaled shakily, the air not being quite enough to stave off the feeling of suffocation. The cops would probably st
SYBIL EAGAN POVThe constant buzzing sound in my ear, as I spoke with the doctor grew until I thought I was literally going deaf, and I could feel my heart still pounding furiously within my chest, making spots swim around the edges of my vision. The doctor's hands landed on my shoulder and I flinched, gaping wide-eyed at him as my vision cleared a bit. He'd been saying something... I just couldn't remember what it had been. "You're still in shock, you should rest for a while and have someone else...""No! Just tell me. I can handle it" I got out steadily even though my whole body was trembling. I was still wearing my blood-soaked dress. Dian's blood. Everything that happened after Dian got shot was a blur of screams and frantic movements, and more shouts for someone to call the ambulance. They had arrived in time, and I could tell that those that were still in the building probably didn't know that anything was going on outside, since not a lot of crowds gathered, which I was thank
SYBIL EAGAN POVIt was Kushi and Rohan's wedding and as I watched the two couple smiling at each other, I couldn't help the smile that tugged at my lips. Everything had gone perfectly without a hitch, and for that, I was glad because I still couldn't get past the threat my parents had made. The ring Dian had given to me was in my purse and I'd already decided to wear it. What we had was beautiful and I didn't want to waste any more time not after all that we had been through, and what we'll probably go through in the future since I was sure Mom and Dad already got the lawsuit, and I knew the case would soon be in the news, since they were public figures, and father was running for the presidential election. The news would carry it creating more exposure and there will be a lot of court hearings, but it would all be worth it. They had to pay for what they had done if we ever wanted to be happy.Dian walked up to me and took my hand."Are you having a good time?" He whispered as he pu
SYBIL EAGAN POVMy parents were the absolute worst. I couldn't believe what they'd done even as I and Dian stared at Mom and Kehlani talking in the video that Kehlani had sent, admitting to their crimes and also threatening to kill her if words ever got out about what they had done to me. Something wet trailed down my cheek and then I was being pulled into the warm chest of Dian. I felt too raw, and it was like Dian knew what I needed because he tightened his arms around me until I could feel him all around me.When I was done, he let me go and I just stared straight ahead, different thoughts swirling around in my head. "This is all that we need to put them away, Sybil. This is the evidence we have been looking for. There is no way they won't get convicted for their crimes if we submit this as evidence"I nodded, wrapping my hand around myself. "You are right about that. This will be undisputable".I could feel Dian's gaze peering at me, even though I wasn't looking at him. He took
