Esmeralda's POV

Mikel's mother had kept me locked away in her attic for a while. Food had not been delivered to me and I was slowly starting to lose strength in my joints.

Everything was aching me, from my head to my stomach and then to my legs. I had escaped from one kidnapper only to be met with another.

I still didn't know what happened with Frederick if he survived the wound on his chest or not. I was still very concerned about Freya, I had no idea if she would hate me after what I did to her father or not.

It was stupid to even expect that she wouldn't want to disembowel me seeing that I had almost killed her father if he did survive it.

I was feeling very guilty for her.

I couldn't help but remember the time I felt this hunger that almost stopped me from life. It had been Freya that came to my rescue and what I did as a payback was to almost kill her father.

My conscience was gnawing at me and I couldn't even try to deny what I had done.
