Chapter 390

Luke and Professor Killiney had something to discuss, so they went to the garden.

As we cleaned up, Dr. Thomson was crouched on the floor, examining scattered pills.

Were those pills problematic?

Dr. Thomson looked intently at them. My gaze shifted from the white pills in his hand to Annette. Memories of my stillborn child flooded my mind, and my hand involuntarily clenched.

"Jen! What are you thinking? Let go!" Penelope grabbed my wrist, frantically trying to pry open my hand. A sharp pain from my palm snapped me back to reality.

I looked down at my now open hand. Blood was trickling out.

"You're bleeding!" Penelope got up to fetch some tissues.

Dr. Thomson found the pill bottle that had rolled away, collected the scattered pills, and put them back in. He picked up his medical bag, saying, "Mr. Walker only asked me to treat Jon, but I guess I'm getting a two-for-one deal here."
