"Be quick," Luke instructed Dr. Thomson, getting ready to approach Jon. People in a frenzy often have much greater strength than usual.

"I'll help you!" I urgently said.

"You stay right there and don't move!"

Luke swiftly turned back, his voice commanding. His piercing gaze startled me, and I immediately dropped my raised foot, rooted in place. "But how can you handle him alone?"

Jon looked thin and weak, but he was still a young man, and it would be difficult for Luke to restrain him in his frenzied state.

"I can help," Penelope offered, but Professor Killiney held her back.

"I'm not so old that I'll let a young girl charge in first," he said.

"Thank you, Professor!" Penelope quickly expressed her gratitude.

"He's my student. It's my responsibility," Professor Killiney said as he walked towards Jon.

Luke and I exchanged glances at his words, and I felt somewhat reassured.
