Early the next morning, Max began his performance. He seized every opportunity to express his remorse, admit his mistakes, inquire about my well-being, and maintained a humble and persistent demeanor.

To be honest, I deeply admire men like Max - flexible, resilient, and unwavering.

A man who hadn't cooked a meal since his wedding got up early to prepare breakfast for me. There was a wide spread of dishes laid out on the table.

I was genuinely disgusted. I didn't even glance at it and said coldly, "You don't have to do these things."

Max's mother, a typical ignorant tradwife, couldn't understand that her son was stooping to conquer, biding his time, and feigning affection in order to gain forgiveness. She thought it was unnecessary for her son to humble himself in front of me. Who am I? After the divorce, I would be a depreciated secondhand item, and I certainly would not dare to divorce her son.
