“11^th grade” I say , shoving a spoon full of the plates content into my mouth.

“And you guys?” I ask them both after shallowing the food.

“12^th…Why did you move to this school?” he asks me. I wanted to tell him the truth , but his girlfriend was there and I think he understood that when I looked at her and then to him before I answered.

“ Needed a fresh start” I simply state – I rather not make up a lie which only leads to more lying , eventually I was bound to get caught up in them. He smiles at me in a mischievous way , as if he knew I was lying and that he knew something that I did not.

“What do you think honey?” he asks Penny , which made me stroke her chin with her fingers before she says something that confuses and shocks me.

“I think she has alpha blood in her – her aura is strong and independent. She already butted heads with the alpha of alphas , which means competition…” she finishes , happily putting some food in her mouth while looking at her man for a congratulation. While she seeks his approval , I find myself with an open mouth surprised and flabbergasted at what had escaped her lips.

“Ex – excuse me?” I stutter , hoping for her or him to shed some light on this – how does a human know about alpha blood and so on. I hear a chuckle escape from Dylan’s mouth , as he wraps his arm around Penny’s shoulder.

“It is okay , alpha – she knows about us…” he looks at her while she concentrates on her food. By the look in his eyes , I had already knew why she did.

“Mate?” I question him , and he blushes.

“Last year , during mating season – I wondered why I did not find my mate during the hunt. It was only when I got back to school did I realise that my mate was a human. I had no choice but to tell her…” he speaks.

“ I did not believe him at first – thought he was a crazy person but soon after I started…craving him…” her faces turns beet red.

“Yeah yeah yeah , I don’t need to know any more” I stop them both , cringing at the awkwardness of thinking of their sexual desires for each other. I heard them both giggle , and I rolled my eyes.

“So again I ask…why did you join this school?” Dylan asks me and I figure that I can tell him the truth now.

“Going to be alpha of my dad’s pack , need to get accustom to humans if I want to do so” short and to the point.

“Makes sense – you were pretty tense to shake my hand earlier” Penny points out.

“How did I do?” I ask her.

“10 out of 10 , you did not hurt me at all…” she smiles at me reassuringly.

“Yay! Then I guess I am ready to be the next – “ before I could finish my next sentence , I hear the group  across the field roar with glee. It is not the roars that catch my attention though , it is the little ‘oh no’ that Penny whispers under her breath , while I watch her from the corner of my eye lightly lean against her mate for protection.

“What’s going on?” I ask the couple , watching as the group of spoilt looking teenagers evilly smirk and make their way towards us.

“ She…Amy Twinkle…She requests a fight with every new female werewolf , to show them whose the ‘alpha female’ around here. She mainly does it to ensure the girls keep their hands off Leonidas….Tris , you are the new female werewolf…” she tells me with worry in her eyes. I bite my lower lip , my eye lids drop heavily slighty as I feel Lexus snarl at the back of my mind. I place the empty tray of food next to me and then get up.

“What are you doing?” Penny whispers to me.

I begin climbing down the benches , and when I reach the bottom I place my hands in the pockets of my leather jacket and start walking to meet the group of werewolves in the middle of the field. I could only imagine how badass I looked – It felt like it was one vs all.

I stopped walking , the space between the group and I reminded me of a no man’s land from wars. I stood there – Lexus and I , waiting excitedly to humble this bully. The crowd begins to split , almost like the way red sea split for Moses. My eyes latches onto those familiar eyes , that awakens something in me – Leonidas walks hand in hand with this…skank. You know when you just look at someone and they look trashy , like they just give this huge plastic vibe. It looks as if she is the biggest plastic ever – and the hickies that decorate her neck suggests that she the main slut of the school. I hear Lexus growl in my head , and I wonder why she does it.

The ‘power’ couple stops further away from me – she scowls at me , while Leonidas’ face is blank. I return his expression back , not feeling the need to show them that I care about them – do I care about them though?

“Heyy bitch!!…” her voice matches her face , its squeaky and annoying.

“ You’re new around here – so let me tell you the rules. Leonidas is my man!! You can’t look at him , you can’t talk to him – don’t even think of him…” she states.

“Hey Leonidas , tell your pet to shut up already” I look to him only , my eyes never wavering. I hear the crowd gasp at my audacity to break rule number one. Some people in the crowd snickered when I referred to her as a pet.

It was really funny…

Lexus snickers as well.

“Skank , did you not hear me?!!!” she shouts.

“I heard you – I just don’t give a fuck” I lay it down to her. It is the truth , I do as I please and no one can govern me.

“Whatever , I will give you two options. 1…Kneel down and submit to me or 2…We fight” she states.

“Let’s go…” I simply say , knowing damn well that I will never kneel to her. Time to fight. I hear her snicker and chuckle evilly , to which I cock my one eyebrow at her.

“You are going to regret choosing that option – I am Alpha Timothy’s daughter , and the best female warrior in my pack…” I watch her canines extend as she says that.

“Bring it on , pet” I say to her in a low voice , I tilt my head to the side and I cross my arms waiting for her to attack. She growls , dropping her hand bag to her side and she starts sprinting towards me – my observant self watch her nails on her right hand extend making me realise that she is going to attack the left side of my face first.

Wait for it…Wait for it….Now!!!

Just as Lexus guides me , I wait for her to be an arms length away from me – when she raises her right arm to slash my face , I take a step back. She stumbles forward , confused on what just happened – and just like that I take advantage of her hunched over self and  land a knee to her stomach. I hear a few of her rips break , and a pained scream escape her lips. I then hit the back of her head with my elbow – everything went silent , her screams stopped  and the group of werewolves held their breath as her unconscious body falls face first onto the moist grass.

“Well…that was easy…” I say somewhat disappointed. I dust my hands before placing them in my leather jacket pockets once more , before turning on my heels and walking back to a now shocked Penny and Dylan. The back of my head burns , the eyes of a certain someone burn my skin – I know that Leonidas is staring at me as I walk away.

When I get back to where the couple is seated , I take seat next to the opened mouth couple.

“What the….” Penny says.

“Guys , stop it…” I say rolling my eyes but giving a small smile of victory.

“You are incredible!!!” Penny screams at the top of her lungs.

“…and we are not the only ones who think so….” Dylan says , nudging his head towards the field. When I look to the field , my smile drops as I see Leonidas staring at me with a blank face. While others are around him , taking pictures of Amy , and her other plastic friends who try to aid her.

Why isn’t he helping her?

“Do you think he feels threatened?” Penny asks me. Without pulling my eyes away from him , because it feels impossible to do so , I bite my bottom lip slowly and then release it.

“If he does , I will knock him out to…” as soon as those words left my lips, a loud growl erupts from Leonidas. I feel the people around me tense with fear , but all I could feel is the presence of my second heartbeat…down there.

Everyone that surrounds him , stops what they are doing and blows their heads submissively – while I look him in the eyes , challenging him while knowing damn well that my body loses control when it comes to him. We stare at each other for a few more seconds , before he turns away and leaves. I let out a breath that I did not know I was holding , and sink into the platform I sit on.

I start to fell pity for Amy , as I watch some males carry her unconscious body across the field to the nurse’s office. Poor girl , creating such a ruckus for a boy who doesn’t even care for her – what was she even thinking? She embarrassed herself so much for him , and now he just left with out even tending to her.

“Poor Amy…” I sigh out.

“Everyone here is aware that she is his pet – everyone except for Amy…” Dylan says , staring in the same direction as I am.

“ I almost feel sorry for her.” I state.

“Don’t!! She is just mean – every one in her posy is” Penny inserts.

“Answer me this…” I say after a few minutes of silence.

“…What if a human saw us fight?” I ask , only realising that our secrets could have been exposed.   

“You don’t have to stress about that , Leonidas mind linked us to keep watch – if any humans were present , we would have informed him and he would have stopped that fight” Dylan informs me , before taking a whiff of his mates scent.

“You are in his pack?” I cock my eyebrow at him.

“Yeah , we both go way back”

“What’s he like?” I find my lips moving , I speak before registering what I said.

“Why do you want to know?” The couple both look at me and wiggle their eyebrows at me.

“Does someone have a little crush on the alpha?” Penny questions me in a Who lala manner.

“Grow up” I roll my eyes at them both.

“Babe , we need to get back to class” her mate says , bringing us both back to reality. I stand up and take my tray with me , but Amy informs me that the janitors will take care of it and we should hurry to class if we do not want to be late. As I begin to walk , I make a sudden stop which goes unnoticed by the loving couple as they continue to walk ahead of me. I feel as if….someone is staring at me. I immediately turn around , my eyes scanning every bench , every piece of land , and every tree – however , there was no one.

“Tris!!Come on , you going to be late!” I hear Penny call out to me , which snaps my attention away. I just shake off the feeling and prepare myself for the next lesson….

…Something in me wishes that Leonidas is in my next class….
