Just as his gaze was about to fall on that spot, Brenda crouched down and swiftly grabbed the snapped finger.

My heart sank the moment Colin left the venue.

In the car, Philip, who had too much to drink, was snoring loudly in his sleep. He was still immersed in the joy of being in the limelight earlier.

Brenda had one hand on the steering wheel. A deep frown creased her forehead. She was still clutching the snapped finger in her hand.

She took out her phone. Her finger hovered above my profile photo for quite some time. Eventually, she seemed to have made up her mind.

Brenda pressed the voice recording button. Her tone was unusually gentle. "Hazel, are you free to drop by home these days? I miss you."

I looked up in shock. For some reason, I felt rather unsettled when I noticed the demanding look on Brenda's face from the rearview mirror's reflection.

Brenda waited for quite a while but did not get any replies. She pursed her lips and spat, "That conniving wench, she thinks she'
