“Your what, Cade? I don't think I heard you correctly. Do you mind repeating yourself?” His mother asked, looking at me, and it was hard not to notice the look of disappointment on her face.

Cade looked at me, and letting go of my hand, he walked up close to his mother. “Mum, meet my fiancee! You can hear me clearly now, can't you?” He asked, his voice hoarse and deep with resentment as he talked.

His mother sat upright, and the lady beside her looked at me from head to toe. “You must be joking? What do you mean, fiancee, Cade? You cancelled my plans because of this thing, sorry?”

“Mother! She's a human being; don't belittle her for the image of a thing! She's someone's daughter too; likewise, I'm your son.”

She tutted, standing up from her seat. “I don't have enough strength and time for this, so if you'd please excuse me, I have somewhere to be.” She said this and walked out of the room, the lady following her stealthily behind her.
