Chapter 11

Scarlett's POV

To say I hate my life is an understatement. Everything is falling apart. First, my good-for-nothing husband divorces me for no reason; I'm owing a huge debt. As if life has not dealt with me enough, my dad is now sick.

I couldn't bear to look at mom's crumbling face any longer, so I decided to go get her a cup of coffee.

I got to the cafe at the hospital and made my order. It wasn't until I wanted to pay that I realised that my wallet wasn't with me.

Yes, everything I had on me was stolen. I left empty-handed, ignoring the contemptuous look of the barista.

“You are back,” Mom said with relief.

“The doctor will see us soon to update us on the situation.”

"Okay, mom, but I need you to calm down. Alright, everything will be fine." I reassured her, even though I knew it wasn't, and sh*t had hit the roof.

A few minutes later, a nurse appeared in the room. “Ma'am, the doctor will see you now.”

“Thank you, nurse.”
