His eyes read through every document on his table. He can’t believe what he’s seeing. His investors, even the most loyal ones he’s had for years, are pulling out of his company.

He reached for the intercom, paging his secretary to come over his office.

“What the fuck are these?” he asked, borderline desperate and confused.

“I don’t know, Mr. Taylor. I received them earlier,” his secretary supplied, voice trembling. She subtly covered her nose, shielding herself from the distressed scent of her boss. She is an omega too, so the scent is much fouler for her.

Klyde picked up the documents again. Reading it again and again to make sure.

Someone has been stealing from him. From his investors too, causing them to pull out. Fuck. He can’t afford this. He can’t believe such a thing has been happening under his nose and he didn’t see it.

“Call a meeting. Now.”

He almost growled. She quickly turned on her heels, walking out of the office.

Klyde slowly inhaled, calming himself down. He can feel his tears stinging at the back of his eyes. But no, he can’t afford even a breakdown right now.

“The board will be ready in a few, Mr. Taylor,” he heard his secretary’s voice said from the intercom.

He quickly gathered all the documents, and stood up. On his way to the board room, he made sure to present his regal self. The powerful omega CEO they all know. But they all seem to throw that title away once the meeting started. Almost every member of his board are alphas, with some betas and a few omegas he made sure to include. Because no matter how much he tries to deny it, they will always be the one that runs the world. Alphas. Fuck them and their dominating nature.

He expected the meeting to go bad. They had always showed their distaste with him after all. An omega trying to rule alphas around. But he did not expect it to be this bad. Especially after showing them that he is capable for years.

“If you would have been smarter, this wouldn’t even happen,” Mr. Wong, one of his board members spit out. He’s an elderly alpha. His scent is strong, musk and amber, mixed with everyone else’s scent in the room. The few omegas’ bitter scent has reached his nose too. Even them, his supposed to be allies, are expressing their distaste with him now. He fought hard to keep his expression neutral. He envies the beta members of his board; they don’t have the ability to smell all this scent in one room.

He blinked fast, can’t believe a word the man said.

“Pardon?”

“You heard me. This company is hopeless, with how many investors have already pulled out.”

“We can still save it—”

“YOU save it. You’re capable, right? Those investors are smart to pull out. No use investing to a company that doesn’t give you anything anymore huh?” another member of his board growled, of course an alpha too. It almost made him flinch but he kept his composure.

He just stared at them as they all stood up and slowly left the meeting room. Showing their disrespect as they didn’t even wait for him to properly end the meeting before leaving. He kept his composure as they all looked at him with a mixture of disgust, pity and anger. He ignores the fact that his scent must be betraying his front, but he stood his ground.

Mr. Wong left the room last, he stopped in front of him.

“We told you, omegas are useless. But did you listen? No,” the man smirked, meeting his eyes. His alpha scent an ugly smell to him. He smells so smug and it makes him so angry. “Good luck saving your company, omega.”

He almost threw up once the man was out. The alpha dominance he was emitting was wild, his knees almost buckled. He was using his alpha voice too, an attempt to make him submit but he fought.

He kept himself together until all of them were out of sight before he broke down. Fat tears streamed down his face as he tried hard to control his sobs. He can’t. He can’t let all those years of hard work go to waste just because some people fucked him over.

He swallowed down the distressed whine that threatened to spill from his throat. It makes his throat itch, but he fought hard to not let it out.

He wiped his face clear off tears. Only one person can help him right now.

He quickly got out of the room, thankful for the breath of fresh air that welcomed him. He walked straight to his office. He must be stinking up the office hallway because of how distressed he is right now but he’s a man on a mission. He ignored the worried looks his secretary gave him. He entered his office and went to grab his car keys aggressively, hands shaking.

“I’ll be back,” he told her on his way out. “I’ll find a way so…I’ll be back.”

He drove all the way to the unfamiliar building. He has only ever seen it on the magazine and news, but now he’s taking the courage to step his foot in it. His heart is pounding hard in his ribcage. He doesn’t want to show more weakness by seeking help from an alpha, but he has no choice.

He almost slammed himself on the reception desk. The omega working there gave him a wide-eyed look. She must have recognized him.

“I need to talk to Mr. Curtis,” he breathed out. He hates how desperate he sounds right now. She wrinkled her nose, his scent strong from the mixture of desperation, distress and panic.

“Do you have an appointment with him, sir?” she asked in a calm voice. Good. At least one of them is calm.

“No. But I really need to talk to him now,” he almost pleaded.

“I’m sorry, sir. You’ll have to set up an appointment—”

“Please! Just tell him I’m here.”

She still looked hesitant but worked to dial what he assumes is the intercom in the main office.

“Good morning, sir. Mr. Taylor is here to see you. Should I let him in?”

He can’t hear what was said from the other line, but she nodded before she put the telephone down.

“Mr. Curtis said he’ll see you,” she gestured to the elevator to his right. “His office is on the top floor, the only one there. Please proceed to the elevator and press the ‘CEO’ button.”

He gave her a grateful smile before quite literally running to the elevator. His impatience has reached its peak when he almost hissed at how slow the elevator door closed and almost cursed at how high the building is. He willed himself to calm down before reaching the floor. He will surely leave his scent in the elevator. He took a calming breath when the elevator finally pinged open.

And that’s how he found himself in the middle of Wade’s office. Caution thrown in the wind as he willingly placed himself in the wolf’s den. If it’s for his company’s sake, then he’s willing to be the bait. Even if it means he won’t get out of there alive.

He knew he was wishing for the impossible but he still felt disappointment tug at him when he woke up in the same room. He sighed before slowly getting up.He expected Wade to be already gone, probably already signing documents after documents in his office. It surprised him to see him sitting on one of the sofas in the living room, sipping coffee. His brows are furrowed while reading a newspaper. He gently placed the cup of coffee on the coffee table, beside a small brown envelope.Wade must have smelled him or sensed his presence, but his eyes drifted to him and he slowly folded the newspaper and placed it beside him on the sofa.“Good. You’re awake,” his voice sounds extra rough in the morning. “Take a seat.”He gestured to the single sofa in front of him. Klyde quietly sat down. He suddenly feels conscious under the man’s gaze. The board room was quiet when he entered, but he heard some of them audibly gasp when they saw who was walking behind him. He felt a small tug of disappointment, he hates how they are so open about how they don’t really respect him, especially now that his company is in the brink of danger. They were at least trying to be subtle before. But now that they know they all have power over him, they are all showing him outright disrespect. They were all standing up by the time they made their way to the front of the room. Mr. Wong was standing far back, and he has a suspecting look on his face. Wade did not let go of his wrist until they were in the safety of his office once again. The ghost of his touch leaving a warm sensation on his wrist.“That was embarrassing,” Wade started before he turned to look at him; eyes void of emotion. The door of his office clicked shut behind them.“They won’t take you seriously if you continue to act like that. Was that how you built this company? You look weak and afraid all the time.”That, that hit a nerve.Klyde straightened his posture and bravely met his eyes, blood boiling.“You don’t know anything. You don’t know a thing I did to build this company, so don’t talk to me like that,” he spat out; venom in his voice.“Exactly. I don’t know anything. But with how you acted today, how do you think that looked to me?” h

Everything was like a déjà vu. He woke up to the sound of his secretary’s voice calling his name. He didn’t even know he fell asleep. He is hunched on his table, arms on both sides of his head, right hand still holding his pen. His right cheek is squished on his table and he had to hold the papers down as he straightened to sit up. He groaned, eyes squinted as he looked blearily at her, standing in front of his desk. “Yeah?” he yawned. His body feels so heavy. The breath coming out of his nose is warm, too warm. His eyes stings in a way that it does when you have a fever. Fuck, does he have a fever? He stretched his arms above his head, getting rid of the kinks. “It’s past 10 in the evening, Sir. You might want to go home.” He turned his head sharply at that, a bad move. His vision is swimming, the world feels unsteady on his feet even as he sat. He feels like shit. “I’

  • Say I Do   CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

The two of them stared at the king-sized bed at the center of the room. Two nightstands stand on opposite sides, with lamps on them. A dresser stands on its side too, a big built-in closet is adjacent to it. His eyes drift back to the bed, his body remaining frozen from where he stood. “Why is there only one bed?” he whispered, repeating his question. “My secretary booked it for me,” the alpha answered after a while. Klyde turned to look at him. Wade was now also staring at the bed.“We’re the only ones who know about our arrangement.” Right. Fuck. Of course, but still. His eyes traced back to the bed, and on its cleanly made sheets, pristine and looking incredibly soft. There are four big pillows on it, and right now, the sight looks so inviting to Klyde. He wants nothing but to finally lie down, feel the soft sheets on his body and bury himself in the pillows. But obviously, he can’t do that just yet. Should he just sleep on the couch? The one in the living room looks comfortabl

  • Say I Do   CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

Klyde zipped his luggage shut, patting it for good measure. He eyed the things he has yet to pack and sighed. Although he had already settled everything he needed to settle before leaving, for some reason he still feels anxious about the trip. He spent the past days completing tasks and leaving reminders for Von in case an emergency occurs in the company, not that emergencies usually happen. The days are usually just quiet. He knows the beta is responsible, he has proven himself, but maybe the problem is with Klyde now. And maybe, leaving isn’t really his problem at all. His problem lies more on what’s awaiting him for the trip. A knock resounded from his door. He turned his head to the direction of it, before quickly standing up to open it. He opened the door, leaving only enough space for his head to poke around and behind it is Wade, already dressed. “Hey,” he quietly greeted, wondering what the alpha wanted. It’s still hours away from their flight. They still have a lot of time.

  • Say I Do   CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR

Today, Klyde went home with the intention to cook dinner. He did not originally plan it, but he got off work pretty early, even earlier than the times he did before. So, he figured maybe he can cook dinner. He’s been cooking breakfast after all, why not try dinner too? It’s four in the afternoon when he entered the apartment. The whole apartment is bathed in the afternoon light bleeding from the floor to ceiling window near the stairs. Klyde disposed his things first on the living room floor, before dumping his body on the plush couch. He sighed. He can’t remember the last time he wasn’t at work during this hour. His eyes roamed around the place, taking not of the apartment’s every nook and crevices. It’s a wonder how the apartment looks so cold despite having two people already living in it. Wade’s apartment looks like it’s straight out from a catalog—pretty but lifeless. Should he start adding his touch on it? Maybe not. He’s just living there temporarily after all. He doesn’t wan

  • Say I Do   CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

And just like that, a routine has been made. Now, Klyde wakes up extra early to prepare breakfast for two. Although Wade told him it was unnecessary, he felt it in himself that he really wanted to do it. So, he continued. He began his search of simple breakfasts he could make quickly. The grocery stocks they have actually started decreasing, and it brought a semblance of normalcy to him. He somehow misses his old apartment because of it, not that he cooks there but he had many instant foods on his pantry too. But he’s glad he’s somehow settling here okay. The sound of Wade’s footsteps as he climbs down the stairs has become a usual sound to him that he doesn’t even flinch nor get bothered by it anymore. After over a week of this set-up, it has slowly become his norm and honestly, that thought is terrifying. “Eggs again?” Wade asked in a teasing voice as he pulled out a stool to sit by the counter. As usual, he has his phone with him. Klyde hummed in answer, not taking his eyes off of

  • Say I Do   CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

Klyde woke up early the next day. He basically passed out after his dinner last night so it’s a wonder, even to him, how early he woke up today, given that he was bone tired. His body still felt heavy, his moves sluggish, but no matter how much he still wants to lay in his bed and maybe come to work later than usual, he can’t bring himself to sleep as his mind is already running from his thoughts again. Instead of drowning in them, he figured he should just get up and cook breakfast. Maybe he’ll have a proper meal of breakfast for once. So, that’s what he did.He walked down the quiet apartment and made his way to the kitchen after freshening up, not even bothering to change out of his sleeping clothes. He got some bread he got from the grocery a while ago, it’s surprisingly still unopened. Actually, cut the surprisingly, he doesn’t really cook nor eat in the apartment that much

  • Say I Do   CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

Klyde sagged on the seat of his car, the back of his head bumping at the headrest, hands resting on the steering wheel as he gently killed the engine. He heaved a heavy sigh. He feels so tired, even more so than usual. The events of today left him with whirlwind of emotions, and now he just feels really, extremely exhausted. Fatigue is creeping into his bone, seeping into his mind leaving it buzzing like an empty television screen. Eventually, when he found the small strength to move his body, he stepped out of his car. The soft sound of its closing door left an empty feeling on him. It’s as if he’s floating as he trudged his way to the elevator. His footsteps are heavy, much like his heart at the moment. Now, don’t get him wrong. Betrayal isn’t a foreign concept to him. It’s a friend he’s all too familiar with. With all the things he went through to establish his company, betrayal has been something he is q

  • Say I Do   CHAPTER TWENTY

“No,” Klyde said firmly, putting down the spoon he was holding not so gently beside his plate. He’s scowling, he’s aware. But he can’t help it when he just heard an absolute nonsense form the alpha in front of him. Of course. “What do you mean ‘no’?” Wade asked, much too calm for Klyde’s liking. He’s almost simmering with rage, and the alpha is acting like what he said was nothing. Wade even lightly dabbed his mouth clean with a napkin. “No as in no, Wade.” “I don’t follow.” “Of course. You’re an alpha. Since when did your kind understand ‘no’ as an answer?” What he said was probably too much, judging the way the alpha’s eyes squinted at him and his posture suddenly became too stiff. But Klyde, at the moment, was blinded by his own anger to even acknowledge his wrong.

  • Say I Do   CHAPTER NINETEEN

The sound of the door opening must have caught the alpha’s attention, because as soon as it opened and Klyde stepped into the room, the alpha was already facing him from where he was standing in front of the glass wall behind Klyde’s table. “Wade,” he greeted, forcing himself to sound casual. The alpha’s eyes raked over his form, left brow rising. “I thought I was babe?” Fuck him, actually. Klyde gave him a forced smile. “What are you doing here?” “Can I not visit my husband?” the alpha asked, head slightly tilted to the right. Klyde sighed and stepped further in the room. He walked to his table, standing a safe distance away from it. The alpha just watched him. “What are you doing here?” he said, repeating his question.

  • Say I Do   CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

To say that Klyde threaded through the holidays peacefully would be a lie. A huge one at that. Because he didn’t. The memory of their kiss on the Christmas eve is still haunting him, and every time he closes his eyes, it’s as if he can still feel the alpha’s lips on him. And Klyde feels very frustrated because of it. Even now, as if on cue, the memories of that night flooded his mind again. They both walk back to the party, Klyde walking ahead of the alpha. His lips are still tingling both from the cold and the kiss, and he still feels quite breathless because of it. He bit his bottom lip to stop himself from replaying the scene in his head, but it only made him remember the kiss more. He casted a brief glance to the alpha walking behind him. He hates how Wade looks relaxed and unbothered, while he is nearly freaking out. When they entered the venue again, he released a breath in an attempt to calm himself.
