How is Trinity going to take this new news?
Trinity POVLance’s words echo in my head. He gave me his blood. My stomach lurches forward. What does he mean by that? The King waves his hand towards Lance and then me. “I had him feed you his blood. When he smeared his blood on your face, your cuts instantly healed up. The same seems to be true for you to him too. I forced him to do a test and cut his hand. I then pricked your finger. Your blood instantly healed his cut. I don’t quite understand why. He can heal people but not instantly like this and never was there someone can heal him like this. It is very strange. But we are also keeping this little bit of information to just the three of us. Okay?”His last word rings out with an air of authority and is more of a demand than a question. I swallow hard and nod. “Okay.”I glance to my side at Lance. Is he a healer? I’ve heard about them, but I have never met any before. My moment of confusion then snaps back to the part where Lance fed me his blood. A wave o
Alpha Edward POV“WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN’T FIND MY DAUGHTER!!!” My words fly out of my mouth and slice through the air while my blood boils. The vein along my face pulses hard and echoes in my head, but I don’t care. My daughter and the heir to the pack is missing! We need to bring her back!I drill my glare into each person as I scan the room, letting them know this isn’t the time to hold anything back. Seldom do we use the elder’s meeting room, but it is one of the few places within the pack where I can talk to my ranking officers and the elders with no one being able to ease drop on us. The room has been soundproofed and is large enough to handle all of us. I can scream until I’m hoarse, and no one outside will hear a thing. My burning glare stops at a small group of my top security personnel. “TELL ME HOW YOU ARE UNABLE TO FIND HER!! IT IS YOUR JOB TO KNOW WHERE SHE IS AT ALL TIMES!!”The group of four coward backwards and lower their heads but only provide me with sil
Trinity POV“Do you understand what I’ve told you? Or do you have any questions? I know this is a lot of information to take in, but I think our biggest concern right now is your lose of your wolf. You need to get your wolf back to make a full recovery.” He pauses for a moment and glances down at his tablet. “I still can’t explain why or how you woke up so soon, especially without your wolf. It doesn’t make any sense. But I’m glad you did.”My stomach churns. If he only knew, he might not be glad.He gives me a faint smile. “You are healing. We need to also heal your wolf side. She took the brunt of the attack, including the effects of the poison. I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes several weeks, if not months, for your wolf to recover and return.”No. I don’t want to be here that long. But I don’t know where I’ll go. It isn’t safe to go back home right now. I first need to find out who is responsible for the attack and the poison. I’m positive the poison was in the
Trinity POVI stare across to the end of the hospital bed at the older woman. My throat tightens as she repeats her question. “When you got to the spot where you thought you heard the call for help, what happened?”I shake my head. “I didn’t get there. Somehow, on my way while running in the direction of our pack’s unique call, several werewolves jumped out and blocked me right after another call rang out, which had suddenly jumped to a short distance from me.”My heartbeat quickens as the scene plays out in my head. She leans over the foot of the bed and types something on her laptop, which sitting on the bed. She lets out a small sigh and presses her lips together. “Are you sure you had the distance correct?”From beside me, Lance grunts, “Didn’t she just tell you the call was much closer than before?” She lifts her gaze from her laptop and stares at him. “Your…”Lance’s hand balls into a fist, and a thick tension instantly builds within the room. She swallows and turns her
Lance POV Chad nudges my arm. “Come on, man. We need to go out and have some fun with our friends. It has been days since we have. They are waiting for us.” I snort and shake my head. “No. I don’t feel like it.” The clicks of the game controller and the sounds from the video game fill the room. Chad shakes his head. “This isn’t like you. You never turn down an offer to go out with friends, and you don’t stay this long back home. We are always out of this place, only coming back when we are ordered to. I don’t know how much longer I can hide from my family.” Tap. Tap. Tap. I tilt the control and, with my focus fixed on the TV, I grunt, “Then you go out and go back to our friend’s place. You don’t need to stay here.” Tap. Tap. Tap. He tilts his controller in the same direction as mine and huffs, “How can you say that? I’ve always stayed with you in whatever hotel or apartment you have. We don’t stay at our friends’ places. That is too much of a security risk.”
Trinity POV I stare out the hospital window at the black evening sky. Nothing is visible, and it seems to know what I’m thinking and feeling. Instead of dark cloud, it has given me a dark sky. I need to get out of here. They say it is safer here than any other place, but I don’t trust the Lycans to not do something to me. Even the older lady from the council today had a look in her eyes, which I couldn’t place. She had the usual sympathy and an air of professionalism, but there was something else. When she talked about me being the only female alpha in over a 100 years, something else lit up in her eyes. It doesn’t scare me, but it gives me an uneasy feeling which I don’t like. I wiggle my feet, but they only move a little. Ugh. I take a deep breath as the silence hammers down on me, and my thoughts go everywhere. After realizing my pack is responsible for me being like this, I can’t go back there. Well, not yet. In my current state, they would finish off the job a
Lance POVWhat in the world is she thinking? Why would she jeopardize her health like this? The other werewolves who come here for treatment don’t act like this. They are all very thankful to the Lycan staff and for being able to recover, which they wouldn’t have been able to do in their pack hospitals. Only the worst cases come here. The ones where the werewolf’s pack hospital has exhausted all they can do. The wolf will either die or permanently be crippled. The Lycan hospital has certain criteria for the werewolves to be admitted, so most don’t think of us until they have no other option. Even then, either their alpha or elder needs to suggest us to them before they think about coming here. Trinity’s father has sent other members from her pack here in the past. It has only happened a few times, but her pack members didn’t act like this. Why is she acting so differently? I stare down at her, wishing I could get all the answers, but I also know it would ruin whatever rela
Alpha Edward POV I step up to the podium and look out across the training field at my pack members. Curious eyes stare back at me. My gaze stops on my son and my new son-in-law at the front of the crowd. Neither of them is curious, but they both have questions swirling around in their eyes. My son-in-law fidgets with the seam of his pants. The Lycan King’s word rush back to me, along with the council woman I talked to yesterday. Someone from within my pack did this to my daughter. It was an inside job. Who would have the guts to do something like that to my daughter, the pack, and me? Then my eyes drift to my daughter’s best friend, standing beside my son-in-law. Why is she there? She should be back with her family. A council member from behind me clears her throat and grunts, “It is time.” I quickly clear my mind and focus on the matter at hand, the investigation. Using my alpha voice, I roar, “Quiet! The meeting has begun.” A hush falls over the crowd while they al
