Lillian's POV

My heart began pounding rapidly in my chest and my grip on my phone tightened. The worst that I feared had happened. For a second, I wished that this was all a nightmare and I would wake up soon.

I closed my eyes tightly, wishing that once my eyes opened, all this wouldn't be real.

As I fluttered my eyes open, I slowly turned in the direction of the couch. A scream left my lips at the sight of Dustin.

My eyes widened in fear and I shrunk backward, my breath hitching and sweat instantly forming on my skin. It felt like there was no oxygen in the room because I couldn't breathe.

Dustin had his wounds treated with band-aids on his face, temple, and neck. He looked fit enough to harm me terribly.

"You were sleeping so peacefully that I didn't want to wake you," He smirked, crossing one of his legs over the other.

"How...how..." I stuttered, my breath shortened.

"How did I get in here?" He said, guessing my question. "Well, the idiot that saved you didn't tell you to

  • Saved To Be A Substitute   A Hopeful Feeling Of Hurt

Alexander’s POVI was shocked by what I'd just heard. How could her paralysis not be from the accident? Was Dustin poisoning her?"Doctor, could this be from a wrong drug or medication?" I inquired, feeling a sense of dread. "No. The substance is illegal to common citizens and can't be used in any pill or can only be used under supervision." The doctor responded. "I believe this was a case of poisoning."My fists clenched. He had paralyzed her to make her vulnerable to his abuse. That monster deserved to die. If I had met him in that abandoned hospital, I'd have made sure he suffered a fate worse than death. "It seems the accident was just a cover to hide the drug's effect. He is such a scoundrel," I growled, seething with anger."Who are you talking about?" The doctor inquired, eyeing me suspiciously."No one, Doctor," I sighed. "Is there any chance she might walk again?" He looked at me gravely, "Since the drug was still in her system, the odds are low." My heart sank. "What?"

  • Saved To Be A Substitute   Dustin’s Obsession

Lillian’s POV "I never thought I would walk again," I muttered, tears welling in my eyes. "I mean, with the lack of proper treatments, hope seemed impossible..." It was hard to believe, there was even a chance. I had always dreamed of walking again, but I would never dare to believe it could be real. "Well, I'll contact a specialist who can help you," The doctor said, smiling warmly. "You'll undergo a lot of therapy, and I'll also recommend seeing a therapist to help you through this mentally as well.” "Thank you," I whispered, a sob escaping. I shouldn't be crying, but the happiness was overwhelming. I never expected to hear such good news, let alone after the recent incident. Everything was happening so fast. "You'll be scheduled with a physiotherapist at the appropriate time," the doctor added. "You're going to walk again, Lily..." Alexander murmured, his eyes bright with happiness. I wished my father was here to finally see me get at least an ounce of happiness. "I want th

You even said you didn't...love me," Alexander replied, hurt evident in his voice. "I don't understand this sudden change. What happened?"He released my hands and gently cupped my face. "Are you afraid of something?" He asked, studying me in concern. I didn't know what to say at that moment. Should I tell him that I wanted this because of Dustin's harassment? Wouldn't he hate me for trying to take advantage of him? Wouldn't he see me as some liability, especially since I had already claimed not to be Jessica?"Lili

I was certain I saw a man with a black suit, quickly ducking behind a tree."Alex!" I shouted, unintentionally letting go of the firefly and pointing at the tree."What is it?" He asked, darting his gaze to where I was pointing."There is someone there, watching us." I replied, my voice shaking as a new found fear filled me."There's no one there," He answered, still looking at the spot."Alexander, I'm not lying.
