Alexander's POV

"What!" Lilian's voice shook. "I don't want to meet her now. I'm not ready."

"I know. I don't want her to see you, either. Not yet," I said, stepping beside her.

I took hold of her wheelchair handles and wheeled her away from the main restaurant area. As we reached the restrooms, Lilian insisted on staying there.

"Are you sure you'll be okay here?" I asked, cupping her face.

"Yes. I doubt that she will come here," She replied, glancing around. "But why is she here? I thought you booked the restaurant."

"They were more incompetent than I realized," I said bitterly. They should have stopped her at the entrance. Well, I'm never coming back here."

"But of all places, why did she come here?" Lillian wondered, her voice laced with worry.

"She must have seen the photos," I sighed.

"What photos?" Her eyes widened.

"A staff member took pictures of us, but your face wasn't visible. They went viral, and it might be too late to take them down," I said, gritting my teeth. "The pr

Alexander's POV"Alexander, Jessica may no longer be with us. But I expected you to keep that vow at least for a long time before running into the arms of another woman!" She added, her voice sharp."It's just been three years..." She reminded me. "That's a short time to move on from someone you claimed to dearly love."Her words stung me. She didn't know half of what I had been through. I understood that she was Jessica's mother and must feel hurt by her daughter's demise, but I held the blame for it."I love Jessica," I muttered, turning to her. "Not a day has passed without me longing for her. I still can't accept that she's gone. So don't talk like I have moved on because I haven't.""Oh really?" Her tone was sarcastic. "What about the woman you were with? You had never been seen with any woman until now. So don't pretend like you haven't moved on."I gasped at her words. They were laced with anger and bitterness."Do you expect me to wallow in sadness for the rest of my life?" I

Lillian's POVI let out a huff, feeling frustration boiling inside me as soon as Alexander left. "This was supposed to be a nice night for us, but here we are, sorting out issues!" I gritted my teeth. "It's been a rollercoaster of emotions since yesterday, we deserve some peace."I hadn't felt this irritated in a while. Alexander and I had been through so much these past days. Tonight should have ended on a good note, but those employees had to ruin it. I wondered how he was doing back there. Was he able to convince Jessica's mother to leave?"I hope she's not giving him a hard time," I muttered, feeling a mix of worry and anger. For a moment, I questioned whether my frustration stemmed from the stress we'd been under or the fact that a special moment with Alexander was ruined."Damn it," I sighed, leaning back in my wheelchair.I stayed silent, seething, waiting for Alexander's return. But suddenly, the door creaked open.My gaze snapped in that direction as the door slightly open

Alexander's POV."What?" I exclaimed in shock. "Did she ask you to take another picture of Lillian, or is this just an excuse to avoid accountability.""I'm not trying to avoid accountability," the employee replied, her voice shaky. "She offered me money, and I couldn't resist. She also promised to pay other employees, if I kept quiet about her identity and did the job right." I was stunned. I thought that Mrs. Sinclair had believed my words, but clearly, she hadn't. I couldn't believe she would go to such lengths to uncover Lillian's identity."This is insane," I mouthed, astounded."Why is she so desperate to know who I am?" Lillian asked, her voice laced with confusion. "If she were your mother then I would understand her curiosity, but she's just Jessica's mother. She doesn't have a right to interfere so much in your life."She was right. Yet, Mrs. Sinclair always felt entitled to meddle because she believed I indirectly caused the 'death' of Jessica."Unbelievable," I sighed, fe

Alexander's POV."How can Dustin be a partner of my company?" I spat, wondering if this was a prank."Wait...this must be a joke," I faked a laugh, still in disbelief."Boss, this isn't a joke," Mr Crown said, smiling broadly. "I know that you're shocked by it, but this partnership is real. We are going to gain so much from this."Anger surged through me at his words, and the smile on every one of their faces. It felt like the air conditioner had stopped working, the air growing heated."When did you sign the proposal?" I inquired, fixing my angry gaze on Mr Crown. "Yesterday, sir." Mr. Crown replied."Yesterday!" I exclaimed, incredulous. "When did this company start accepting proposals in such a short time?""Boss, we can explain," Another one of my delegates, Mr. Vincent, said. Rising to his feet, he began, "The proposal was too good to pass up. We couldn't risk losing it." "I'll show it to you," He said, gesturing to the large presentation screen opposite me. He signaled Gwen

"I'm sure, that these conditions..." I began, rolling my eyes to keep calm. "...aren't as complicated as you attempt to make them. I snarled.I noticed the shift in his expression when I called her 'my woman'."Your woman?" He spat, sneering. "Why are you acting like she's some rare gem you can't let go of? I don't get what you see in her." His voice was irritatingly casual as he continued, "She's not even that beautiful, not talented either. There's nothing unique about her. So, save yourself the trouble and let her go." I let out a dark chuckle this time, “If she is not so talented as you claim, why do you want her back then? You let her go and now you want her back? "Good afternoon, Miss Lillian," Martin said, smiling. "Afternoon?" I gasped, surprised to realize that I had been asleep for so long. "Yes, you were sleeping so peacefully. I think the drugs made you sleep for a long time," Martin said, stepping closer to my bed. "Oh, that's true," I nodded, smiling back. "Where is Alexander? Did he go out?" "Yes, he went to the office. I was watching a video of Jessica and her mother confessing everything they had done before disappearing. That was what they had to do, so Alexander wouldn't press charges against them. They knew they had no chance against especially since, Dad, as I called him now, wouldn't be able to help them. Meanwhile Mrs. McQueen, though kept at arms length, has been so supportive through this pregnancy. She would call me sometimes and give me some tips on how to eat right and stay healthy. Author's POV. Days later, Jessica went to the same hospital that she had been going to for her check up. In a few hours, she slipped out as if nothing had happened. She touched her face again and there was no pain anymore. This discovery made a smile appear on her lips. As she headed to the parking lot, she pulled out her phone to call her mother. “Hello?” Sha muttered as her mother answered. “How was it?” Her mother asked. “Ma, everything went well,” Jessica smiled, getting into her car. “Are you sure? Is there any pain left? Do you want to go abroad again?’ Mrs Sinclair inquired, her voice tinged with worry.“Ma, I'm trying to get Alexander back and returning to Singapore isn't something I want to do. She could not understand how a loving gentleman like Alexander had been born by such a bitter mother."What? Why are you staring at me like that?" Mrs McQueen snarled, hands perched on her waist. "I don't know if you know this but Alexander really loves you. He respects you too as his mother but I don't think you love or respect anyone but yourself. You are trying to ruin his happiness with your own hands," Lillian said. "What happiness? Do you think life with someone like you is happiness? Alexander will be miserable if he gets married to you and he will regret choosing you over me," Mrs McQueen accused. Lillian leaned against the wall, suddenly realizing what the matter was all along."You are jealous. That's it, right? You don't even care about Jessica, not really. You are jealous of how much Alexander loves me and you get afraid everytime he considers my feelings before your own." Lil

I arched my back, moaning when he sucked on me lavishly."Alex. . .the bed. . .I can't. . ." Even with him holding me up, my knees were beginning to shake. "I got you," he whispered, his hot breath sending chills all over me. He started walking backwards with me attached to him, scattering kisses all over my neck. When he got to the bed, he sat on it, lifting me and placed me across his hips. He didn't break concentration, continuing to tease me while dragging the rest of the teddy down to my waist."My baby is going to have a baby," he said, drawing the leftover chocolate on my chest down to my stomach. "When I think of your belly round with my baby,

Too much was at stake for me to be careless."We are here, Miss," the driver informed me and I alighted his taxi after paying him on the app. I sent a text to Alexander to let him know I was home and stretched out on the couch in the living room. Doctor Malcolm said stretching was good for me anyways. He also told me to exercise more and eat more healthy.Alexander called instead of texting back and I was already smiling even before I heard his voice."Hello, darling. How did your appointment go?""It was okay. You really didn't have to call, Alex. I know you are very busy." Yet I was smiling so hard my cheeks were hurting."Don't say that.
