JOB ORIENTATION

They were to be trained in various departments in two groups, Tina was put together with Kate a cool pretty girl with braided hair who seemed to have a pleasant personality and they bonded very well unlike another trainee Jacque who was a snob, rude, and proud and full of herself. Tina liked her new bosses who seemed to be articulate and were specific about the performance they required from their staff. The meeting was brief but they were told that madam Lucy will be in charge of them so they should follow her lead.

Tina was first taken to work with the operations and administrative manager George who would show her around the company and later train her on the job operations. Tina and Kate were happy to be coupled together and they enjoyed their day together. They were taken to different departments and were showed how the operations of the company were done as the company was a chain of companies related together they were taken to the front office department and shown how the company runs and how to welcome and treat clients with kindness, which to Tina was not new to her, then they visited the store showed how stock-taking is done and distributed.

George took them to the restaurant and kitchen which fascinated Tina because she loved cooking and could learn a trick or two the interesting part is when the chef suggested they taste a cake he had made with some juice it was heavenly, especially to Kate who had a sweet tooth. They were taken to the accounts department and eventually the Human Resource who explained in detail what their job as an assistant to the Directors would entitle them. Tina found it fascinating although she up to now didn’t know who her boss would be it was work she needed to learn details so that she can perform the job perfectly.

Tina noticed that George was giving some hints about them becoming more than friends he had even invited her to go to his house in the evening when Kate had gone to the washroom but Tina denied politely telling George that she was already committed and hinted that he should try his luck on Tina because she noticed her staring glances on her. When Kate came back she found both Tina and George observing her with curiosity and she asked “What? But they both blushed her off. Tina then excused herself she needed to make a phone call and left them hinting to George please take care of my friend she is new here.

They later had lunch in a nearby restaurant and their day was pleasant until the evening when they were dropped to the restaurant. They had a shower and Tina ordered room service dinner early so that she would call her love, she missed talking to him and preferred an evening where they would have facetime. She ate her dinner early and called Kate to bid her goodnight to Kate and went to sleep since she was anticipating waking up early in the morning. She tried calling Ken his phone was out of internet range, then called her best friend Lily they chatted for a while and then called Ken again but the network could not get through and an answering machine replied and she gave up, text him, good night love, hope you are doing well and slept.

The alarm woke Tina up and she prepared herself for the training ahead, they met with Kate at the receptionist hugged like good buddies, and boarded the company vehicle. The day was busy moving from one department to another, getting to learn about the company policies and regulations so far so good Tina thought, they took their lunch and the process continued for a week of training and orientation until the last day which was a Friday came they were informed that there was a company day and as a tradition, the Chairman will be present and today the party will be held at a Hotel near the offices which was also run by the company. They were dropped off at the hotel to change to their evening wear since it was their last day there. 

Jacque bragged that the youthful director was coming and she would eventually get married to Mr. King. Kate and Tina had no idea of whom she was referring to were not bothered but concentrated on the job that brought them there in the first place. One of the trainees who was also pissed with Jacque manners said, "let us hope you will not cry with disappointment,  I understand Mr. King is a no-nonsense man. We wish you the best of luck". She bragged you will soon be calling me madam boss. Let us wait and see, everyone left her there on her own dreamland. Jacque was so full of herself and nobody wanted to be associated with her.
