ITS TIME

Ken had set his alarm clock so that it would wake him up in the morning and they would go to work out in the gym with Jimmy as they had normally done since their youthful years together as friends or brothers in his parents’ house. It was a routine that they were unable to break sometimes Lewis joined them but most of the time they were together and their favorite workout routine was weight lifting, the treadmill, and the punching bag. They would put on music and close the door of the gym since they had put it soundproof after his mum complained about the noise. 

Today they woke up as usual dressed in their truck suit and went for a morning jog before going to the gym. The workout was helpful to keep in shape and also to reduce stress, especially because sometimes business can be both profitable and more stressful when there is loss due to either bad decisions or competition. It was also time for meditation to keep the mind calm and tranquil. They finished their morning workout and Ken asked Jimmy how’s it going with Lily Jimmy grinned and replied good. “I presume you went to further explore men, Ken said punching him on the back” He, “not yet man but I am working on it” Jimmy replied. Please tread carefully man girls are very fragile and when you get the right woman for your partner please treat her right you’ll be the happy man I can testify to that”. I’ll man she agreed to give me a chance and we had a moment although we never went far we are good he grinned. Ken said I am happy for you man we will become brothers for life if we marry this girl maybe family when our kids marry they laughed and hugged one another and Jimmy said let's go clean up we have a big day ahead I have to drop Lily in the airport and the meeting in the afternoon. I want to know where the construction department has reached so that I can know what to say in the report we don’t want to disappoint the investors. Yeah, I concur lets go and freshen up. 

When Ken arrived at his room he went directly into the shower because he was sweaty and wanted to freshen up all he saw was that Tina was in the bed sleeping soundly. He dressed up in his official suit but did not wear his cologne because Tina was complaining about the smell of the most fragrance so he opted not to start any war because she had become temperament of late or would start crying. Ken shook his head this hormone I wish she gives birth soon but she had another month to go and Ken was ready to go all the way until she delivers the twins he couldn’t wait for their birth and he smiled to himself. When he finished dressing and shaving his beard he was looking very handsome but he was surprised to see that Tina was awake it was abnormal for her to wake up in the early hours of the morning so he greeted her, “morning love how are you feeling today, you have woken up early is anything the matter are you hungry I get you to breakfast? Ken asked. 

Tina replied no I am okay but my bladder is full so I need to go to the washroom, Tina replied. Okay darling you can go to the washroom while I get you breakfast. Will be back in a minute. Tina went to the toilet but after a shower and doing her business she felt a sharp pain in the bladder or some contraction. She wanted to wake up and go to call Ken who had gone downstairs but the pain was so sharp that she was unable to move. The only option thing she did was to scream in pain and Aunty Cherry who had seen Ken go down and wanted to tell Tina that she joins them in the twin's shopping had the scream and went to see what was happening she found Tina on the floor wriggling in pain. Aunty Cherry went and called loudly for Ken to come and other people who were in the dining room heard the call and all came running when Ken heard his aunt screaming he came running wondering what could be the matter and when he looked down he lifted his wife to the bed and shouted for someone to call the ambulance which Jimmy did and also called the family doctor. They were perturbed to see how Tina was wriggling in pain and she was crying and screaming at the same time holding her tummy and saying she can not stand it anymore. Ken placed her head on his wraps and tried to console her although it was tough and it touched him and he felt if it were possible he could carry her pain for her. She was in pain and he was helpless and started screaming about the ambulance. Damnit where is the ambulance can’t you see she’s in pain Ken couldn’t help shedding tears, also Lily joined in and the only sober people left were Stacy, Jimmy who was making calls, and aunty Cherry. She brought a bottle of warm water that she used to compress the tummy to try and contain the pain but all in vain. Luckily even after what looked like a lifetime, an ambulance arrived with the doctor inside. When the paramedics arrived they jabbed Tina to calm her down and the doctor instructed everybody including Ken who was resisting to move out so that they can transfer her to a hospital she needed urgent medical attention in a medical facility, not a hospital. 

They carried Tina in a stretcher to the waiting ambulance and she was whisked to the ER where after a few tests and checks the doctor asked for Ken to give consent for an emergency CS to be done to save both the mother and the kids in her womb. Ken signed the documents and Tina was whisked into a theatre. Ken was stopped by the medical personnel not to go in the theatre since she was in contraction and it was better they save the mum and the kids in the womb. She was whisked into the theatre and Ken went to join the other family members who were waiting anxiously outside and when they saw Ken they all ran to him waiting to hear the latest news but all he could say was she has been rushed to the theatre. He couldn’t hold himself and when his father Mr. King hugged him he just broke down his father comforted him that all will be well son just be strong for your wife and kids and that was a bit consoling although he shed a lot of tears.

Jimmy came and took him to the chapel where he knelt and said some prayer then Jimmy took him to the canteen for coffee. He had never seen his friend in the lowest and had to comfort him. “Don’t worry buddy the kids and the mother will be fine, just be strong you don’t want your wife to see you this sad, you’ve to be a strong man for all of them. Okay, Ken calmed down after taking a cup of black coffee and they went back to the theater waiting for a word from the doctors. After about an hour what seemed to be a lifetime the family doctor came out and they all were very anxious asking what is the wrong doctor, how’s Tina, what was the problem so many problems at once he said, “calm down Mr. King your wife and boys are fine but you have to give them time to relax. I will only allow the husband to see her but the kids are in the incubator maybe Mrs. King you can go see them on their behalf but I request you to go back home today we cannot allow visitors in the High dependence unit but tomorrow if all goes well and she’s transferred to the normal ward you’ll be able to see them. Ken's father could not be left out and since the doctor was his friend he had a special request, “Can I accompany my wife to visit my grandkids, please he pleaded, and the way he begged the Doctor could not deny him the chance. 

The grandparents were given protective gear but could only watch the kids through the glass no direct contact and when they saw the beautiful angels they were so happy and promised to protect them for life since they looked so venerable. After a few minutes the doctor could not allow them more time and they had to go back and join the group which compromised of Lewis somebody alerted him and he came, aunty Cherry, Lily Jim, Ken, and now the parents. Lily was crying and Jimmy was consoling her that all will be well. The way pale Tina's face looked could raise concern. Ken visited her in the HDU she looked less pale and relaxed since she was still induced. They were nurses changing her to normal ward clothes from theatre clothes and she was in deep sleep. Ken was told he can talk to her and that she would hear but cannot answer.

He kissed her head and told her, “Get well soon my sweetheart and thank you for the beautiful angels I want you to get well soon so that we can go home as a family that is when Tina squeezed his hand and Ken said thank you I will leave you to rest we will come tomorrow when you are better. I love my beautiful wife and kissed her forehead. Ken left anxious to know about his babies and his parents gave him a warm embrace congratulating him for being a father of two they told him the babies were beautiful and soon they will be running around with their grandparents. This made everyone have a group hug and promised to take care of them. Lewis had gone to make a call for some security to come and watch over the wards with Tina and the babies since their family was prominent and even media people could come shopping around. Ken had not seen him and when he saw his older brother he hugged him tightly and shed tears but Lewis told his brother congrats daddy you have made us proud and we will protect the next King’s generation and love them more. Just take care of your family don’t worry about the office we will take care of it with  Jimmy you worry about them getting them home. Hi everybody let's go home since there’s nothing for us to do here I have organized security. Let's go brother you had the doctor you’ll come later when Tina will be out of the sedation.
