Mary blinked repeatedly as the rays of sunlight from the open window hit her face, warming her face up causing her to squint as she opened her eyes fully. She realized only then that she had forgotten to close her window before she slept off last night.

She wondered why her mom had not woken her up for the usual morning prayers and at the same time she was glad that her sleep was not interrupted.

She picked up her phone from the bedside table and scrolled through it, even though she hated Adonis so much for trying to kill her, a part of her still expected to see a text from him.

She let out a sigh of relief when there was nothing from him on her phone, and also chided her heart for being stupid.

Standing up from the bed she arranged her scattered hair scattered hair which looked like that of a bedraggled masquerade before finding her way out of her room.
