Alexander picked up his glass of wine and gulped down the contents in a hurry, barely waiting to catch his breath. He clenched his fist in fury and flung the glass cup across the room, watching how it shattered into tiny bits.He looked disheveled and totally unkept. His hair was barely combed as his eyes were as red as a flame. Underneath his eyes were large eye bags…a major indication that he hardly slept all through the night. His heart was heavy and so was his body. He felt useless and without an idea of what to do. All through the night, he remained at the hotel, searching through his heart and trying to remind himself of how much of a coward he was. He had Amelia who needed his help presently, but he was willing to give up on her because of the treasure he had in his possession. All through the night, he questioned his decision and felt the weight it created in his heart, and even until day break, he was yet to get a grip of himself. He loved Amelia, and he could feel it in
Amelia’s PovI pushed away the tray of food that was given to me, with a wrinkled face that showed great disgust and irritation. The food didn’t look bad, but thinking of how cruel and head strong Grey was, every appetite I had vanished. “What exactly do you want from me? Please let me go! I don’t have what you want”, I cried out for the hundredth time as I gazed at Grey, who just walked into the room.He wore a small smile on his face, after which he sat down close to me, staring at me intently, with different thoughts going through his mind.“You are just everything I wanted. Alexander is on his way to give me what I want…because of you”, Grey dropped and for a minute, I thought I had only heard wrongly.I jerked up instantly and turned to look at him, hoping that he was only trying to pull my legs.“Did you…did you tell him?” I asked, with fear written all over my face. He chuckled at first, and then, added more intensity to the laughter.“Of course I did!”’he said defiantly, in
Alexander’s PovThe minute I set eyes on her, my heart melted, and my soul longed for her. She was there, standing with the man I detested, and gazing at the ground as though she were alone in the entire world.Inasmuch as I tried to withhold my emotions, they finally got the better part of me. I rushed over to her and took a closer look at her entire being, wondering what her life since the past two days must have been like.“Are you hurt? Did he hurt you anywhere?” I asked again, with a cracked and barely audible voice. She took in a deep breath and shook her head negatively, still trying so hard to avoid my gaze. Once I was confident that she was fine as she had said, I shifted my gaze back to Grey, who was beginning to run out of patience.“You didn’t have to do what you did. She is innocent and the best you would have done was leaving her out of our issue!” I declared defiantly as I walked over to Grey, who rolled his eyes at me and chuckled in sarcasm.“Give me the treasure an
Amelia’s PovI tossed to the left side of the bed, grabbing the duvet over my head and trying to find a comfortable position. Despite how much I tried, the torment I felt only heightened. I felt as though I was in great trouble, even if Alexander rescued me from Grey. Firstly, I was pregnant for him and that was against his rules. His rules said that he would kill both the child and the mother if any of us eventually got pregnant. That only meant that he would kill me in no time.I observed his display of affection earlier, but I couldn’t help but feel that it was a only pretense. There was no way he would act cool and unbothered after learning that I was carrying a child. Again, I tried to think of why he eventually came to help me. I knew that Grey had threatened to kill the child I’m carrying, but that wasn’t meant to prompt him to come over. He had no interest in me or the child…so why did he come? These were the thoughts that engrossed my heart and despite how hard I tried to
Alexander barely slept all through the night. Each time he closed his eyes, he recalled the dead glare that was plastered on Amelia’s face all through the journey back to the mansion. He had made to talk to her the minute they got back, but she walked away, without waiting for even a second.“Is she that mad at me?” I asked myself again as I scoffed and groaned in frustration. My life was at a stage that I considered to be the worst. I felt so disorganized, and now I made plans to start something with Amelia, she was giving me a red card.Once it was breakfast time, I rushed over to the dining hall, waiting patiently to set eyes on her. My eyes were red and my head was aching terribly, but that was the least of my worries.“Good day, master”, I heard the voice of some of the girls who walked in and took a seat in the hall. They looked around in confusion, obviously wondering why One was not in sight.“I know that you are wondering why One is not here. It’s a long story, but I would l
Amelia’s PovI still didn’t get it. Why wasn’t he trying to tell me that he knew about my pregnancy? Why was he pretending and making things hard for me? A shout of agony escaped my lips just as I fell to the bed and started sobbing. This was the most complicated stage of my life, and things kept showing up in situations I never expected.Grey had told me clearly that he informed Alexander about my condition. Apparently, that was why Alexander decided to show up and meet the end of his bargain. What I didn’t know was why he showed up and why he was keeping mute when he understood I was carrying his child…And now, he suddenly decided to get rid of five ladies in the mansion, and not only that, he bestowed that responsibility on me. This was extremely ridiculous, but despite how crazy it sounded, I couldn’t deny the fact that it was scary as well. It was frightening because I had no idea of what he was up to currently and what he planned to do with me. At this point, I wished that
The minute Grey grabbed the treasure from Alexander, he felt like the richest man in the entire world. That was exactly one who had such treasure in his possession was meant to feel; powerful and unbeatable. He blessed the day he got to learn about it, and he praised himself for believing that one day he would have it in his hands. Just then, his phone rang, with a strange number on the display screen. He reluctantly picked it up, looking around suspiciously as though he would be under an attack in the next minute.Inasmuch as he had the treasure in his hands, he couldn’t deny the fact that it felt as though Alexander would make plans to ambush him and reclaim what was his. “Let’s get out of here!” He said to his men, who nodded their head and led him away from the field. He stared at the strange number on his phone and after several seconds of pondering over returning the call, he finally decided to do so.“We have your national identity card here at the hospital. Apparently, you d
It was morning at the mansion. The bright sunlight seeped into Amelia’s room, reminding her that it was a new and important day. She took in a deep breath as she groaned in frustration, wishing that the day never came. It was the day for her to choose which of the ladies who would leave and the two who would remain at the mansion.Thoughts of that scared her, especially because she wondered what life at the mansion would be when they were no longer around.“Good morning, Noah”, she greeted Noah who was tending to the flowers, with a serious and confused look on his face.Noah ignored her at first, but that didn’t stay for long because almost immediately, he swirled around to look at her.“This is barely 7:am. You woke up quite early”, he mumbled with a voice that sounded like a whisper.Amelia nodded her head calmly and went closer to him.“He wants some ladies to leave and two to stay. He asked me to make the decision”, Amelia explained to Noah, even if she had no idea of why she wa
